Comparison of Potential and Viscous Codes for Water Entry Problem

  • This paper presents a comparison of potential and viscous computational codes for the water entry problem. A po-tential code was developed which adopted the boundary element method to solve the problem. A nonlinear free surface boundary condition was integrated to find new locations of free surface. The dynamic boundary condition was simplified by taking constant potential values for every time steps. The simplified dynamic boundary condition was applied in the new position of the free surface not at the mean level, which is the usual practice for linearized theory. The commercial code FLUENT was used to solve the water entry problem from the viscosity point of view. The movement of the air-liquid interface is traced by distribution of the volume fraction of water in a computational cell. The pressure coefficients were compared with each other, while experimental results published by other researchers were also examined. The characteristics of each method were discussed to clarify merits and limitations when they were applied to the water entry problems.

대규모 시스템의 실시간 컴퓨터 제어를 위한 전문가 시스템 (An Expert System for the Real-Time Computer Control of the Large-Scale System)

  • In this paper, an expert system is proposed, which can be effectively applied to the large-scale systems with the diversity time constraints, the objectives and the unfixed system structure. The inference scheme of the expert system have the integrated structure composed of the intuitive inference module and logical inference module in order to support effectively the operating constraints of system. The intuitive inference module is designed using the pattern matching or pattern recognition method in order to search a same or similar pattern under the fixed system structure. On the other hand, the logical inference module is designed as the structure with the multiple inference mode based on the heuristic search method in order to determine the optimal or near optimal control strategies satisfing the time constraints for system events under the unfixed system structure, and in order to use as knowledge generator. Here, inference mode consists of the best-first, the local-minimum tree, the breadth-iterative, the limited search width/time method. Finally, the application results for large-scale distribution SCADA system proves that the inference scheme of the expert system is very effective for the large-scale system. The expert system is implemented in C language for the dynamic mamory allocation method, database interface, compatability.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a precise pulse motor control chip that generates the parabolic speed pattern. This chip can control step motor[1], DC servo[2] and AC servo motors at high speed and precisely. It can reduce the mechanical vibration to the minimum at the change point of a degree of acceleration. Because the parabolic speed pattern has the continuous acceleration change. In this paper, we present the pulse generation algorithm and the parabolic pattern speed generation. We verify these algorithm using visual C++. We designed this chip with VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and executed a logic simulation and synthesis using Synopsys synthesis tool. We executed the pre-layout simulation and post-layout simulation with Verilog-XL simulation tool. This chip was produced with 100 pins, PQFP package by 0.35 um CMOS process and implemented by completely digital logic. We developed the hardware test board and test program using visual C++. We verify the performance of this chip by driving the servo motor and the function by GUI(Graphic User Interface) environment.

실리콘 직접 본딩에 의한 P-N 접합의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characterization of P-N Junction Using Silicon Direct Bonding)

  • This study investigated the various physical and electrical effects of silicon direct bonding. Direct bonding means the joining of two wafers together without an intermediate layer. If the surfaces are flat, and made clean and smooth using HF treatment to remove the native oxide layer, they can stick together when brought into contact and form a weak bond depending on the physical forces at room temperature. An IR camera and acoustic systems were used to analyze the voids and bonding conditions in an interface layer during bonding experiments. The I-V and C-V characteristics are also reported herein. The capacitance values for a range of frequencies were measured using a LCR meter. Direct wafer bonding of silicon is a simple method to fuse two wafers together; however, it is difficult to achieve perfect bonding of the two wafers. The direct bonding technology can be used for MEMS and other applications in three-dimensional integrated circuits and special devices.

PLC 기반 머신 비전 시스템 개발 (Development of Machine Vision System based on PLC)

  • This paper proposes a machine vision module for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers). PLC is the industrial controller most widely used in factory automation system. However most of the machine vision systems are based on PC (Personal Computer). The machine vision system embedded in PLC is required to reduce the cost and improve the convenience of implementation. In this paper, we newly propose a machine vision module based on PLC. The image processing libraries are implemented and integrated with the PLC programming tool. In order to interface the libraries with ladder programming, the ladder instruction set was also designed for each vision library. By use of the developed system, PLC users can implement vision systems easily by ladder programming. The developed system was applied to sample inspection system to verify the performance. The experimental results show that the proposed system can reduce the cost of installing as well as increase the ease-of-implementation.

A Single-Chip Video/Audio CODEC for Low Bit Rate Application

  • In this paper, we present a design of video and audio single chip encoder/decoder for portable multimedia application. The single-chip called as video audio signal processor (VASP) consists of a video signal processing block and an audio single processing block. This chip has mixed hardware/software architecture to combine performance and flexibility. We designed the chip by partitioning between video and audio block. The video signal processing block was designed to implement hardware solution of pixel input/output, full pixel motion estimation, half pixel motion estimation, discrete cosine transform, quantization, run length coding, host interface, and 16 bits RISC type internal controller. The audio signal processing block is implemented with software solution using a 16 bits fixed point DSP. This chip contains 142,300 gates, 22 Kbits FIFO, 107 kbits SRAM, and 556 kbits ROM, and the chip size is $9.02mm{\times}9.06mm$ which is fabricated using 0.5 micron 3-layer metal CMOS technology.

  • 유무선 통신기술이 접목된 정보통신 및 제어기술을 이용하는 첨단해양교통시설은 안전한 해양교통 환경을 보장할 수 있는 혁신적인 교통시설이다. 표준화를 기반으로 개발되어진 기술을 통합한 해양교통시설은 항로표지 시스템의 관리와 모니터링 분야에 그 응용기반이 확대되어져 가고 있다. 이러한 해양교통 환경적 변화를 고려하여 해양교통시설에 대한 현황을 파악하고, 해양교통시설 관리시스템 통합의 타당성을 확인하였고, 통합을 구현하기 위한 최적의 방안 및 기존 시스템과의 연계를 통한통합 방안을 제시하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중센서 기반의 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템은 가로등의 관리 및 제어를 위한 데이터 표시부와 데이터 변환 및 처리부, 게이트웨이의 통신부로 구성하여 설계한다. 데이터는 실시간으로 저장이 가능하도록 DB를 설계하고, 실시간으로 무선 원격제어 및 스케줄을 설정하여 모니터링 할 수 있도록 구현한다. 제안된 하이브리드 조명제어 시스템의 효율성 검증결과, 스마트 기기 및 포터블 PC 등과 연동하여 실시간 모니터링 및 원격 조명제어가 가능하였고, 결과적으로 에너지 절감 및 전기료 감소, 통신비용 감소 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 단일모드 광섬유와 박막도파로 소자들 사이의 효율적인 광전송은 집적광학 시스템의 실현을 위해서 가장 기본적으로 풀어야 하는 필수적인 과제중의 하나인데, 이 때 광섬유와 도파로를 직접 접속시키는 방법은 접속면에서의 필드분포의 불일치로 인해 많은 양의 광전력이 반사되고 발산이 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 박막도파로와 광섬유의 접속시 경계면에서의 필드분포의 불일치를 피하기위해 uniform 형과 taper 형의 결합 구조를 박막도파로위에 성장시켜 접속시키는 구조를 제안하고 해석하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 이들 구조가 광섬유로부터 결합도파로 안으로 광파가 전송되면 이후에 박막도파로로 효율적으로 광결합이 일어남을 보였고, 특히 taper 형태의 결합구조가 uniform 형태의 결합구조보다 결합효율 및 소자 제조측면에서 휠씬 더 바람직한 구조임이 증명되었다.

  • This study identifies visible/invisible factors and analyzes facilities, structure, and visible perceptive contents in the aspects of operation and efficiency with a focus on the interfaces between interior design of the subway and users. More specifically, it diagnoses the requirements and empirically presents improvements. In addition, this study aims to diagnose the interfaces between trains and users by reinterpreting and evaluating factors from the perspectives of users, and to elicit the universal interface and an objective form of conceptual, structural, and formative relations in regard to the conditions required to the design. As the interior design in the subway trains is for the public reflecting the value, consciousness, and behaviors of users, it should be approached through the application of the concept of universal design that considers the potential needs and psychological satisfaction of users. In arranging the indoor of the vehicles, the conditions for the facilities should be specified through the interdisciplinary approach from professional fields including ergonomics and psychology, the path of flow should be induced through the use of space and the analysis of passengers' behaviors, an integrated planning should be re-established, and continuous evaluations of basic guidelines, manuals, and requirements should be made.
