m-Health System for Processing of Clinical Biosignals based Android Platform (안드로이드 플랫폼 기반의 임상 바이오신호 처리를 위한 모바일 헬스 시스템)

  • Management of biosignal data in mobile devices causes many problems in real-time transmission of large volume of multimedia data or storage devices. Therefore, this research paper intends to suggest an m-Health system, a clinical data processing system using mobile in order to provide quick medical service. This system deployed health system on IP network, compounded outputs from many bio sensing in remote sites and performed integrated data processing electronically on various bio sensors. The m-health system measures and monitors various biosignals and sends them to data servers of remote hospitals. It is an Android-based mobile application which patients and their family and medical staff can use anywhere anytime. Medical staff access patient data from hospital data servers and provide feedback on medical diagnosis and prescription to patients or users. Video stream for patient monitoring uses a scalable transcoding technique to decides data size appropriate for network traffic and sends video stream, remarkably reducing loads of mobile systems and networks.

  • Wavelength filters are essential components for selecting a certain wavelength channel of a WDM optical communication system. To realize wavelength filters with narrow bandwidth and high reflectivity, an apodized grating structure with length of 15 mm and index modulation of $5{\times}10^{-4}$ was designed. The device exhibited a reflectivity of 95%, 3-dB bandwidth of 0.28 nm, and 20-dB bandwidth of 0.70 nm on an 18 mm grating length.

Development of a Dynamic Model for Water Quality Simulation during Unsteady Flow in Water Distribution Networks (부정류 흐름에서 상수관망 수질해석을 위한 동역학적 모형의 개발)

  • A dynamic water quality model is presented in order to simulate water quality under slowly varying flow conditions over time. To improve numerical accuracy, the proposed model uses a lumped system approach instead of extended period simulation, unlike the other available models. This approach can achieve computational efficiency by assuming liquid and pipe walls to be rigid, unlike the method of characteristics, which has been successfully implemented in rapidly varying flows. The discrete volume method is applied to resolve the advection and reaction terms of the transport equation for water quality constituents in pipes. Numerical applications are implemented to the pipe network examples under steady and unsteady conditions as well as hydraulic and water quality simulations. The numerical results are compared with EPANET2, which is a widely used simulation model for a water distribution system. The model results are in good agreement with EPANET2 for steady-state simulation. However, the hydraulic simulation results under unsteady flows differ from those of EPANET2, which causes a deviation in water quality prediction. The proposed model is expected to be a component of an integrated operation model for a water distribution system if it is combined with a computational model for rapidly varying flows to estimate leakage, pipe roughness, and intensive water quality.

  • This paper proposed a method that segmented customers utilizing SOM(Self-organizing Map) and predicted the customers' response of a marketing promotion for each customer's segments. Our proposed method focused on predicting the response of customers dividing into customers' segment whereas most studies have predicted the response of customers all at once. We deployed logistic regression, neural networks, and support vector machines to predict customers' response that is a kind of dichotomous classification while the integrated approach was utilized to improve the performance of the prediction model. Sample data including 45 variables regarding demographic data about 600 customers, transaction data, and promotion activities were applied to the proposed method presenting classification matrix and the comparative analyses of each data mining techniques. We could draw some significant promotion strategies for segmented customers applying our proposed method to sample data.

  • Social networking services which spreading rapidly is a system using interrelationship of people by internet or mobile. SNS is a network system of the human-centered. In this paper, in order to make robot become a member of social networks we studied the necessary elements and formation. For robot with communication function and sensing, autonomous, collision avoidance method and communication protocol is needed to let Robot share the present conditions dangerous or special situation. We realized this after investigating necessary sensor for SNS, studying robot's collision-avoidance method, and defining protocol of robot for SNS. Also, we suggested and implemented the wired and wireless integrated communications method.

  • It is now the era of ubiquitous which is highly integrated on the convergence technologies with not only ICT bul also BT, CT, NT and ST. Through this convergence technology, the understanding on visualization of 3D virtual reality which make more human's 5 feelings activate beyond the wall of time and space is recently very important. We search the visualization technology of 3D virtual reality and estimate the future development, and give the perspectives. Since the visualization technology of virtual reality is strongly depended on 3D computer graphics representations, 3D image visualization technology being able to get immersion has been possible. The new paradym on computer interactions is implemented by making images augment on the base of the PC and display equipments. The studies is established on the direction of more intensity on humanity. And also, these technologies will be able to achieve actively the implementations for ubiquitous society dueing to get the high-technology on the superhighway networks.

  • In the past few years, M2M (Machine-to-Machine) applications have become a hot topic in the wireless industry. While M2M applications can be used for many purposes (smart homes, smart metering/electricity meter reading, fleet management, mobile workforce, automobile insurance, vending machines, etc), and in many sectors (healthcare, agriculture, commercial, industrial, retail, utility, etc.), smart metering applications or smart grids present the biggest growth potential in the M2M market today. M2M platform is the future ubiquitous network technologies which provide the integrated service with the networks and devices. The promising technologies to tackle these problems are the Semantic technologies, for interoperability, and the Agent technologies for management of complex systems. In this paper the information communication technique based on the disaster prevention system's for the M2M, concepts and its requirement technology and application are studied.

  • Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) provides an interactive and personalized service for realizing integrated broadcasting and telecommunication services. Set-top box (SIB) connected to TV is an essential component required for IPTV and has a unique hardware identifier used in identification and authentication. It means that subscriber authentication based on box-level identification is inconsistent with IPTV's main intention of providing personalized services. The proposed solution is to provide an opportunity to use the flexible user-centric authentication mechanism through Java Card applets in IPTV application server and 3G networks. This paper suggests personalized services by moving the user's private data and authentication management beyond the STB to a truly personalized device, the ubiquitous mobile phone. In addition, this paper presents effectiveness and security analysis for verifying the proposal.

  • Recently, Networks are required to adopt the security system and security consulting because of security threats and vulnerabilities of systems. Enterprise Security Management (ESM) is a system which establishes the security zone composed of security systems and Firewalls and applies the security policy to each security system. A relevant ESM is based on the effective policy and the proper security system. Particularly, multiple firewalls in ESM are concerned with the security policy about each traffic. In this paper, we describe the problems that can be occurred when we select the firewalls to apply security policy of access control in ESM composed of multiple firewalls and propose the FALCON algorithm, which is able to select the firewalis to apply the policy. We expect that FALCON algorithm offers stability, scalability and compactness for selecting firewall set.

A Scheme for Push/Pull Buffer Management in the Multimedia Communication Environments (멀티미디어 통신 환경에서 Push/Pull 버퍼 관리 기법)

  • Multimedia communication systems require not only high-performance computer hardwares and high-speed networks, but also a buffer management mechanism to process many data efficiently. Two buffer handling methods, Push and Pull, are commonly used. In the Push method, a server controls the flow of dat to a client, while in the Pull method, a client controls the flow of data from a server. Those buffering schemes can be applied to the data transfer between the packet receiving buffer, which receives media data from a network server, and media playout devices, which play the recived media data. However, the buffer management mechanism in client-sides mainly support either one of the Push or the Pull method. Consequently, they have some limitations to support various media playout devices. Futhermore, even though some of them support both methods, it is difficult to use since they can't provide a unified structure. To resolved these problems, in this paper, we propose an efficient and flexible Push/Pull buffer management mechanism at client-side. The proposed buffer management scheme supports both Push and Pull method to provide various media playout devices and to support buffering function to absorb network jitter. The proposed scheme can support the various media playback devices using a single buffer space which in consequence, saves memory space compared to the case that a client keeps tow types of buffers. Moreover, it facilitates the single buffer as a mechanism for the absorbing network jitter effectively and efficiently. The proposed scheme has been implemented in an existing multimedia communication system, so called ISSA (Integrated Streaming Service Architecture), and it shows a good performance result compared to the conventional buffering methods in multimedia communication environments.
