Maximum power point tracking method for building integrated PV system (건물용 태양광 컨버터의 최대전력 추종 기법 개발)

  • This paper proposes a novel sensorless maximum power point tracking (11PPT) algorithm for PV systems. The method is based on dividing the operating time into several intervals in which the PV terminals are short circuited in one interval and the calculated short-current of the PV is obtained and used to determine the optimum operating point where the maximum output power can be obtained. The proposed MPPT algorithm has been introduced into a current-controlled boost converter whose duty ratio is controlled to the maintain MPP condition. The same sequence is then repeated regularly capturing the PV maximum power. The main advantage of this method is eliminating the current sensor. Meanwhile, this MPPT algorithm reduces the power oscillations around the peak power point which occurs with perturbation and observation algorithms. In addition, the total cost will decrease by removing the current sensor from the PV side. Finally, simulation results confirm the accuracy of the proposed method.

  • The algorithm for calculating the base-collector breakdown voltage of NPN BJT(Bipolar Junction Transistor) for integrated circuits is proposed. The method for calculating the electric field using the solution of Poisson's equation is presented and the method for calculating the breakdown voltage using the integration of ionization coefficients is presented. The base-collector breakdown voltage of NPN BJT using 20V process obtained from the proposed method shows an averaged relative error of 8.0% compared with the measured data.

  • The method of the analysis of the base Gummel number of the PNP BJT(Bipolar Junction Transistor) for integrated circuits based upon the semiconductor physics is proposed and the method of calculating the doping profile of the base region using process conditions is presented. The transistor saturation current obtained from the proposed method of PNP BJT using 20V and 30V process shows an averaged relative error of 6.7% compared with the measured data.

  • Although there have been many Web site evaluation models with an explosive growth of Internet, they seem to be not fully considering various aspects of Web sites resulting from their changing roles. This paper proposes a method for evaluating Internet Web sites based on an integrated view. The method consists of 4 views including user-judgement view, user-performance view, expert-judgement view, and expert-performance view. Working procedures of the method along with tools and techniques and its implications are presented.

  • Due to the deterioration of infrastructure, the importance of maintenance is continuously increasing. Therefore, an integrated maintenance method for various facilities is required. In this study, a maintenance priority determination method for integrated maintenance of roads and pipe network facilities was developed. It is possible to analyze attribute information by using GIS data of roads and pipe networks, and shape information can be used. This information is derived as quantitative figures for determining maintenance priorities. In the future, it is expected that facility maintenance can be further advanced in connection with maintenance method and quantity information for each facility.

  • Land information and building information have highest utilization and importance in real estate and city administration area. However, providing integrated information service was difficult because conflation and integrative utilization was not easy. In this study, necessity of integrated information system, direction of integration, method of conflation and design of integrated system for land and building information are presented. In addition, the prototype system is developed and possibility of application of integrated information is proposed. For this purpose, current situation of management of land and building information was analyzed. Based on the analysis, matching and conflation processes among spatial and attribute data were applied to land and building information. Using integrated land building information DB, integrated information system and functions were designed and the prototype system was constructed. At last, information service examples in real estate and city administration area were suggested through system operation by LX.

  • As a theoretical background for this research, the literatures which focus on teaching and loaming of connecting with mathematics and science were investigated. And the rationale of integrated curriculum on the basis of the 7th mathematics curriculum and the goal of mathematics education and the forms of integrated curriculum and the integrated curriculum in foreign school were investigated. Depending on this review, the implement method of the integrated curriculum of mathematics and science in Korea school is suggested as the following: It requires designing inter-disciplinary into-grated problem or various teaching and learning materials which are based upon concept, skill, and principle by commonality found across the subject matter. Based on the analyses upon described above, three inter-disciplinary integrated teaching and learning materials were developed. And then, based on the case stud)', the research questions were analyzed in depth. Students could understand the developing process of linear function, develop the formula and grape representing the relationship between time and velocity, time and distance, and interpret realistic meaning of the slope.

  • Safe aircraft requires highly reliable navigation information. The traditionally used inertial navigation system (INS) often displays faulty location information due to its innate errors. To overcome this, the INS/GNSS or INS/TRN integrated navigation can be used. However, GNSS is vulnerable to jamming and spoofing, while TRN can be degraded in the flat and repetitive terrains. In this paper, to improve the performance and ensure the high reliability of the navigation system, the INS/GNSS/TRN integrated navigation based on federated filter is designed. Master filter of the integrated navigation uses the estimates and covariances of two local filters - INS/GNSS and INS/TRN integrated filters. The local filters are designed with the EKF that is feedforward type and composed of the 17st state variables. And the INS/GNSS integrated navigation includes the barometer error compensation method. Finally, the proposed INS/GNSS/TRN integrated navigation is verified by vehicle and captive flight tests.

A Study on Integrated Operation of School Bus in Suburbs (교외지역 통학버스 통합 운영 방안 연구)

  • Purpose: Generally, since the population density is lower in suburban areas, the distance to school is inevitably long. Therefore, schools in suburban areas often operate school buses to improve student welfare. However, since school buses are usually used only during going to and from school, the utilization rates are relatively low. Therefore, this study aims to establish integrated operation plan of public school bus covering all schools. Methods: It is necessary to decide which school buses will serve the specific demand node which want to go to certain school in order to design an integrated operation plan for school buses. Therefore, a mathematical model is developed for minimizing the total number of vehicles and the distance of transportation by reflecting the characteristics of school buses and students as constraints. To solve the proposed mathematical model, CPLEX, a commercial solver, is applied. Results: To validate and to confirm the proposed process, numerical example is designed with the comparison between before and after integrated operations of school buses in terms of total operation cost. The result shows that the integrated operation can lead the reduction of the number of school buses as well as the decreasing of the fuel cost. Conclusion: This study provides the quantitative method to perform the integrated operation of school buses in suburban areas. The optimal operation strategy is required because there are more complex decision-making elements considering the integrated operation. It is expected to apply this research result at real situation to expand this services based on an optimal operation.

Effect of Iron Species in Mesoporous Fe-N/C Catalysts with Different Shapes on Activity Towards Oxygen Reduction Reaction

  • Among the non-precious metal catalysts, iron-nitrogen doped carbon (Fe-N/C) catalysts have been recognized as the most promising candidates for an alternative to Pt-based catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) under alkaline and acidic conditions. In this study, the nano replication method using mesoporous silica, which features tunable primary particle sizes and shape, is employed to prepare the mesoporous Fe-N/C catalysts with different shapes. Platelet SBA-15, irregular KIT-6, and spherical silica particle (SSP) were selected as a template to generate three different kinds of shapes of the mesoporous Fe-N/C catalyst. Physicochemical properties of mesoporous Fe-N/C catalysts are characterized by using small-angle X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, and scanning electron microscopy images. According to the electrochemical evaluation, there is no morphological preference of mesoporous Fe-N/C catalysts toward the ORR activity with half-cell configuration under alkaline electrolyte. By implementing X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of Fe and N atoms in the mesoporous Fe-N/C catalysts, it is possible to verify that the activity towards ORR highly depends on the portions of "Fe-N" species in the catalysts regardless of the shape of catalysts. It was suggested that active site distribution in the Fe-N/C is one important factor towards ORR activity.
