Monolithic forging of cask is required continuously. Body-base monolithic forging of cask has advantage of an economical manufacturing process and better reliability for nuclear applications. Through the finite element analysis and parametric study of design variables, those are die angle, groove length and flange thickness, the optimal dimensions of preform and die sets are determined in order to develop a suitable forging process for body-base monolithic forging. To verify the result of finite element analysis, the physical model of 1/30 scale of actual product using plasticine was carried out. The result of this experiment, deformed shapes were very similar to the finite element analysis. As a result of this work, the special piercing method was developed using blank material consisting of a flange, groove and squared part.

Flow velocity was measured using a hot wire anemometer. Turbulence intensity was in proportion to mean flow velocity regardless of swirl velocity. And integral length scale has proportional relation with swirl velocity regardless of measurement position. Flame speed calculated by radius of visualized flame was increased and then decreased according to lapse of time from spark. Maximum flame speed was increased according to increase of turbulence intensity. Burning speed and flame transport effect increased with increase of swirl velocity, but ratio of burning speed to flame speed decreased with increased of swirl velocity. Mass fraction burned versus volume fraction burned was increased in proportion to the increase of turbulence intensity, caused by increase of combustion promotion effect according to increase of turbulence intensity and scale.
The buckling properties of a single-layered graphene sheet (SLGS) are examined using nonlocal integral first shear deformation theory (FSDT) by incorporating the influence of visco-Pasternak's medium. This model contains only four variables, which is even less than the conventional FSDT. The visco-Pasternak's medium is introduced by considering the damping influence to the conventional foundation model which modeled by the linear Winkler's coefficient and Pasternak's (shear) foundation coefficient. The nanoplate under consideration is subjected to compressive in- plane edge loads per unit length. The impacts of many parameters such as scale parameter, aspect ratio, the visco-Pasternak's coefficients, damping parameter, and mode numbers on the stability investigation of the SLGSs are examined in detail. The obtained results are compared with the corresponding available in the literature.
Experimental data are presented which describe the effects of a combustor-level high free-stream turbulence on the near-wall flow structure and heat/mass transfer on the endwall of a linear high-turning turbine rotor cascade. The end wall flow structure is visualized by employing the partial- and total-coverage oil-film technique, and heat/mass transfer rate is measured by the naphthalene sublimation method. A turbulence generator is designed to provide a highly-turbulent flow which has free-stream turbulence intensity and integral length scale of 14.7% and 80mm, respectively, at the cascade entrance. The surface flow visualizations show that the high free-stream turbulence has little effect on the attachment line, but alters the separation line noticeably. Under high free-stream turbulence, the incoming near-wall flow upstream of the adjacent separation lines collides more obliquely with the suction surface. A weaker lift-up force arising from this more oblique collision results in the narrower suction-side corner vortex area in the high turbulence case. The high free-stream turbulence enhances the heat/mass transfer in the central area of the turbine passage, but only a slight augmentation is found in the end wall regions adjacent to the leading and trailing edges. Therefore, the high free-stream turbulence makes the end wall heat load more uniform. It is also observed that the heat/mass transfers along the locus of the pressure-side leg of the leading-edge horseshoe vortex and along the suction-side corner are influenced most strongly by the high free-stream turbulence. In this study, the end wall surface is classified into seven different regions based on the local heat/mass transfer distribution, and the effects of the high free-stream turbulence on the local heat/mass transfer in each region are discussed in detail.

A modified model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary layer flows. In order to develop the eddy viscosity model for the problem, the flow is divided into three regions; namely, pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The pre-transition eddy-viscosity is formulated by extending the mixing length concept. In the transition region, the eddy-viscosity model employs two length scales, i.e., pre-transition length scale and turbulent length scale pertaining to the regions upstream and the downstream, respectively, and a universal model of stream-wise intermittency variation is used as a function bridging the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. The proposed model is applied to calculate three benchmark cases of the transitional boundary layer flows with different free-stream turbulent intensity (1%∼6%) under zero-pressure gradient. It was found that the profiles of mean velocity and turbulent intensity, local maximum of velocity fluctuations, their locations as well as the stream-wise variation of integral properties such as skin friction, shape factor and maximum velocity fluctuations are very satisfactorily predicted throughout the flow regions.
Shading devices have become an integral part of the daylighting strategy for sustainable classroom design. The louver type is newly designed shading devices which provide more view to the outside and protect from outside condition such as snow or rain. The purpose of this study is to compare the daylight performance of traditional and louver type overhang and lightshelf. The room dimension was $7.5m{\times}9.0m{\times}3.0m$. The length of shading devices was calculated by Palmero's study. The length of the traditional and louver type overhang was 455mm, 1210mm and lightshelf was 350/810mm, 625/555mm respectively. For the study, the Radiance 2.0 was used to evaluate the illuminance and uniformity ratios. And scale model were used to evaluate sunpatch area on the floor in model was calculated. The results showed that the louver type lightshelf was suitable for spring and summer, and louver type overhang was suitable for winter.

An experimental study is performed to investigate characteristics of near of wakes of circular cylinders with serrated fins using a hot-wire anemometer for various freestream velocities. The main focus of this paper is to investigate a reason why a vortex formation length is increased suddenly. Velocity of the fluid which flow through fins decreases as fin's height and freestream velocity increases and fin pitch decreases, and a thickness of boundary layer increases. The finned tube has a lower velocity gradient when the higher boundary layer grows. This velocity gradient on finned tube makes a weak shear force in the wake and moves to downstream in a state of lower momentum transfer between the freestream and the wake. The phenomenon makes a vortex formation length increased suddenly. The fluctuations of the velocity distributions on the finned tube and (equation omitted) = 1.0 contour line in the vortex formation region decreases when the fin height increases and the pitch decreases.
The Yingxian wooden tower in China is currently the tallest wooden tower in the world. It was built in 1056 AD and is 65.86 m high. Field measurements of wind speed and wind-induced response of this tower are conducted. The wind characteristics, including the average wind speed, wind direction, turbulence intensity, gust factor, turbulence integral length scale and velocity spectrum are investigated. The power spectral density and the root-mean-square wind-induced acceleration are analyzed. The structural modal parameters of this tower are identified with two different methods, including the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) combined with the Random Decrement Technique (RDT) and Hilbert transform technique, and the stochastic subspace identification (SSI) method. Results show that strong wind is coming predominantly from the West-South of the tower which is in the same direction as the inclination of the structure. The Von Karman spectrum can describe the spectrum of wind speed well. Wind-induced torsional vibration obviously occurs in this tower. The natural frequencies identified by EMD, RDT and Hilbert Transform are close to those identified by SSI method, but there is obvious difference between the identified damping ratios for the first two modes.
The heat (mass) transfer characteristics on the blade surface of a first-stage turbine rotor cascade has been investigated by employing the naphthalene sublimation technique. A four-axis profile measurement system is employed for the measurements of the local heat (mass) transfer coefficient on the curved blade surface. The experiments are carried out for two free-stream turbulence intensities of 1.2% and 14.7%. The high free-stream turbulence results in more uniform distributions of heat load on the both pressure and suction surfaces and in an early boundary-layer separation on the suction surface. The heat (mass) transfer enhancement on the suction surface due to the endwall vortices is found to be relatively small under the high free-stream turbulence.
The coherent flamelet model(CFM) is applied to symmetric counterflow turbulent premixed flames. The flame source term is set proportional to the turbulence intensity to reproduce the experimental correlation of Abdel-Gayed et al. for the turbulent burning velocity. Flame quenching by the turbulent rate of strain is modeled by an additional multiplication factor to the flame source term. A modified form of CFM is employed to consider coexistence of burned and unburned premixture with ambient air. The predicted flame position and turbulent flow field coincide well with the experimental data of Kostiuk et al., although there is some discrepancy in the radial rms velocity component and integral length scale near the symmetric plane.
