  • This paper presents a novel prototype of an active auxiliary quasi-resonant snubber(Auxiliary Quasi-Resonant Commutation Block-Link; ARCB)-assisted three phase voltage source soft switching space voltage vector modulated PFC rectifier, which uses Zero Voltage Soft Switching (ZVS) commutation. The operating principles of this digitally-controlled three phase soft switching PWM-PFC rectifier system with an instantaneous power feedback scheme are illustrated and its steady-state performance is evaluated using computer-aided simulation analysis.

  • This paper presents an instantaneous voltage control scheme of au킹liary power supply system for the electric railway v vehicles, The resonance problem of the LC filter and the existing steady state error are more serious as the use of l instantaneous voltage control techniques for the fast transient response at the nonlinear load, A filter capacitor current f feedback loop is considered to increase the damping ratio of the voltage transfer function for the suppression of the resonance problem of the LC inverter output filter. To eliminate the steady state en‘or existing in case of the AC l instantaneous voltage control. the high gain transfer function is added to the conventional PI controller. The theoretical a analysis is well described with the simulation results. The validity of the proposed schemes is well verified through the s simulation and expelimental results for the 5 kVA prototype.

  • This paper describes an instantaneous reactive power compensator aimed at the compensation of reactive power and current harmonics of a thyristor load. A new definition of the instantaneous reactive power consisting of both displacement of fundamental current and harmonic distortion current is proposed and the physical meaning is investigated from the viewpoint of an instantaneous power flow. The instantaneous reactive power is calculated from the feedback of instantaneous voltage, current and is compensated by the current controlled PWM converter connected in parallel with the load. The PWM converter operates as a high performance current control scheme, because adopts the excellent current controlled PWM technique based on the current deviation vector. Both simulation and experimental results show good compensating performances in steady and transient state.

  • The design of ultrasonic transducer energy processing systems requires highly reliable command featuring mechanical frequency tracking and constant velocity control of the ultrasonic transducer with an acoustic load. This paper presents a new conceptional instantaneous current resultant control base high-frequency inverter using self turn-off devices driving an electrostrictive ultrasonic transducer system and its optimum control technique, which is implemented by feed-back of the ultrasonic transducer applied voltage and instantaneous velocity of the transducer vibrating system through a Phase-Locked-Loop control scheme. The feedback voltage corresponding to instantaneous velocity is averaged over a half-period with respect to constant amplitude/constant velocity control strategy. Described are the theory of this signal detection technique and the experimental set-up.

  • An effective Carrier-Based PWM scheme that enables the instantaneous quality of each branch point voltage of a diode clamped 4-level inverter to be reduced at a low modulation index is described. This scheme presents a computed zero sequence voltage of PWM by the feedback of both DC-link voltages and load currents. The proposed PWM scheme enables to increase the controllable region of DC-link voltage and makes it possible to operate with small DC-link capacitors. The validity of the proposed PWM scheme is verified by simulation results.

  • In this paper, we investigate the scheduling and power allocation for coordinated multi-point transmission in downlink long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) systems, where orthogonal frequency division multiple-access is used. The proposed scheme jointly optimizes user selection, power allocation, and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection to maximize the weighted sum throughput with fairness consideration. Considering practical constraints in LTE-A systems, the MCSs for the resource blocks assigned to the same user need to be the same. Since the optimization problem is a combinatorial and non-convex one with high complexity, a low-complexity algorithm is proposed by separating the user selection and power allocation into two subproblems. To further simplify the optimization problem for power allocation, the instantaneous signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the average SINR are adopted to allocate power in a single cell and multiple coordinated cells, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the average system throughput and the cell-edge user throughput significantly compared with the existing schemes with limited feedback.

  • This study presents an overhang-type rail traction system using dual brushless AC (BLAC) motors with hall sensors. For an accurate position and moving length control of the designed rail traction system, instantaneous position controller using speed reference model and modified disturbance observer for BLAC motor with hall sensor are proposed. The presented speed reference model is designed to satisfy the required performance of 200 mm/s with proper acceleration and deceleration slopes to reduce mechanical vibration. Through the instantaneous speed reference model, instantaneous position and speed errors can be compensated together. Furthermore, the modified disturbance observer for BLAC motors with low-resolution hall sensors can improve the torque and speed control performance. The proposed disturbance observer is based on an actual motor speed. However, the feedback speed information of the hall sensor is not enough for use in the low-speed region. The practical adopted disturbance observer uses an activation speed band to the actual torque controller of the designed rail traction system. The proposed position control scheme is verified by the MATLAB-Simulink model and a practical manufactured traction system. In the computer simulation and experiments, the proposed position control scheme shows advanced control performance.

  • Cooperative beamforming has previously been proven to be an efficient way to improve the cooperative diversity. This method generally requires all relay nodes to participate in beamforming, which can be seen as "all participate" cooperative beamforming. However, not all relay nodes have constructive impacts on the end-to-end bit error rate (BER) performance. Based on this observation, we propose a new cooperative scheme which only selects those "appropriate" relay nodes to perform cooperative beamforming. Such relay nodes can be simply determined with mean channel gains. Therefore, the selection complexity is significantly reduced as global instantaneous channel state information is not required. This scheme guarantees that energy is only allocated to the "appropriate" relay nodes, and hence provides superior diversity. We also prove that power allocation among source and selected relay nodes is a convex problem, and can be resolved with lower computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate that our scheme achieves an essential improvement in terms of BER performance for both optimal and limited feedback scenarios, as well as high energy-efficiency for the energy-constrained networks.

  • In this paper, we investigate the power allocation for cognitive relay networks. Cognitive relay networks offer not only increasing spectral efficiency by spectrum sharing but also extending the coverage through the use of relays. For spectrum sharing, conventional works have assumed that secondary users know perfect channel information between the secondary and primary users. However, this channel information may be outdated at the secondary user because of the time-varying properties or feedback latency from the primary user. This causes the violation for interference constraint, and the secondary user cannot share the spectrum of the primary after all. To overcome this problem, we propose the power allocation scheme for the secondary user under the allowable primary user's outage probability constraint. Since the proposed power allocation scheme does not use the instantaneous channel information, the secondary users have lower feedback burden. In addition, the proposed scheme is also robust to the outdated channel environment.

  • A low power SDRAM output buffer with reduced power line noise and feedthrough current is presented. In multi I/O SDRAM output buffer, feedthrough current as well as the corresponding power dissipation are reduced utilizing proposed undershoot protection circuits. Ground bounce is minimized by the pull down driver using intelligent feedback scheme. Ground bounce noise is reduced by 66.3% and instantaneous and average power are reduced by 27.5% and 11.4%, respectively.
