Present and Future of Green Hospitals in Korea (종합병원의 친환경적 시설 실태와 향후 과제)

  • This study purports to investigate the status quo of the environmentally-friendly green healthcare in teaching hospitals through the questionnaire survey. Data were collected from a total of 46 hospitals. The survey results revealed that most teaching hospitals did not meet the global standard of environmentally-friendly green hospitals. Especially, such items as alternative energy system, water recycling, CO2 emission reduction, green building construction, installation of pond or spring were found to be significantly below global standard. Based upon the study results, various strategies for establishing green hospitals were discussed. For example, energy saving design, such as solar heating, natural wind cooling, automatic temperature controller, green material use, wall surrounded by ivy, were recommended. In conclusion, the strategy and evaluation tool developed in the study will provide a good guide for establishing environmentally-friendly green hospitals.

Development of an Electro-mechanical Driven Broaching Machine

  • The machine tools builders are trying to improve the efficiency and performance of the machine tools. The electro-mechanical driven broaching machine has many advantages such as lower noisy operating, higher energy efficiency, and smaller space of installation. This paper presents the structural and mechanical development of an electro-mechanical driven broaching machine that is replaced for traditional hydraulic one. The servo motor, ball screw and roller linear guide are used instead of hydraulic cylinder and translation frictional sliding guides. The simulation method based on FEM was applied to analyze the stress, deformation of the machine for static analysis. The dynamic analysis was carried out for verifying and assessing the mechanical behavior of the developed broaching machine. This work helps broaching machine developer make a better product at the early design stage with lower cost and development time.

  • This study aims to provide a guide to the selection and purchase of a good CD-ROM encyclopedia by establishing evaluation criteria for CD-ROM encyclopedia. This study first divided evaluation criteria into the following rune categories: reviews available, print version, availability of trial disc, hardware requirements and ease of software installation, database contents, retrieval software, standalone/network version, standard/deluxe version, costs. Next, it suggested evaluation points and items in detail under each category.

Performance and Flow Characteristics of Axial Fan (축류팬의 성능 평가 및 주변 유동 특성)

  • Comprehensive work is done for flows by an axial fan by experimental research. The present model fan is used for air handling device for out-door unit of an air conditioner in home appliance. PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) system and wind tunnel are adopted for measurements of flows and performance evaluation, respectively. Major experimental conditions are the installation depth of a fan into a bellmouth of it. Optimal position of a fan in an inlet guide tube is observed by examination of fan-performance and flows in both upstream and downstream of the fan. Consequently, in the case of the fan inserted in half depth into the inlet tube, the efficiency of fan shows its maximum value and flow patterns is also streamlined.

  • In this paper, various aspects of landfill liners such as guide of liner installation, type of bottom liners and vertical barriers, domestic companies producing and dealing liners, quality assurance and control of liners, are investigated. Although sanitary landfilling of domestic municipal wates has begun at the last decade, we still need to strengthen the regulation for designing and constructing the liner systems and to diversify the types of liners used in the landfills. Technologies of quality control for selecting and installing landfill liners should be improved as soon as possible. In order to develop the technologies and to slove th problems related to landfill liners, more efforts should be taken among the engineers and the agencies who are interested in maintraining safe subsurface environments.

  • To prevent an insulator failure, an automatic cleaning robot was developed for suspension insulator strings. The robot autonomously moves along the insulator string using the clamps installed on its two moving frames, and adopts a dry cleaning method using rotating brushes and a circular motion guide. In addition, a mechanized brush bristles and a voltage-balancing contactor are devised to increase cleaning efficiency and to prevent arc generation under live-line conditions, respectively. Moreover, a manual tool for its installation and removal is presented. We confirmed its effectiveness through experiments.

  • Reliance on electric power has increased together with customer's demand for delightful and convenient linging. Recently, as appeared in the rapid growth of the technology of power electronics, the installation and apparatus using semiconductor applicotion is widly supplied and used from a household goods to industrial goods. However, these machine generate harmonics current and voltage for electric power system. The harmonics current is increased voltage distortion and generate a lot of interference in the electric power system. In this paper, the trend of the trend of suppression technology of harmonics outflow and the fundamental theory about the suppression of harmonics current in the distribution system are investigated and evaluated Therefore we look forward to supply electric power of good quality to satisfy the harmonics current guide line which is applied to household goods in the world.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the change in exposure concentration in the cleaning process after installing a local exhaust system. Methods: Dichloromethane measurement was conducted according to the KOSHA Guide (A-19-2019). Results: After the local exhaust device was installed, a total of three measurements were conducted, including temporary work environment measurements, and all of the measurements did not exceed the DCM exposure standard, but were more than 50% of the DCM Time Weighted Average((8-TWA) Conclusions: It is thought that the local ventilation system of a small business needs not only support for the initial installation cost, but also educational support for maintaining the performance of the local ventilation system and support for consumables (adsorbents, filters, etc.) that incur periodic costs.

  • This case report described a technique utilizing a computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided machining (CAM) - guided surgical implant placement and prefabricated temporary fixed prosthesis for an immediately loaded restoration. The advantages of CAD/CAM guided implant procedures are flapless, minimally invasive surgery and shorter surgery time. With this technique, less postoperative morbidity and delivery of prosthesis for immediate function would be possible. A patient with an edentulous maxilla received 8 implants in maxilla using CAD/CAM surgical templates. Prefabricated provisional maxillary implant supported fixed prosthesis were connected immediately after implant installation. Provisional prosthesis was evaluated for aesthetics, function during 6 months. Definitive implant supported fixed porcelain fused metal bridges were fabricated.

Numerical Analysis for Improvement of Windshield Defrost Performance of Electric Vehicle (전기자동차 전면유리 제상성능 개선을 위한 전산수치 해석)

  • As the residence time in the vehicle increases, the passenger desires a pleasant and stable riding environment in addition to the high driving performance of the vehicle. The windshield defrosting performance is one of the performance requirements that is essential for driver's safe driving. In order to improve the defrosting performance of the windshield of a vehicle, relevant elements such as the shape of the defrost nozzle should be appropriately designed. In this paper, CFD based numerical analysis is conducted to improve defrost performance of small electric vehicles. The defrost performance analysis was performed by changing the angle of the defrost nozzle and the guide vane that spray hot air to the windshield of the vehicle. Numerical simulation results show that the defrosting performance is best when the defrost nozzle angle is $70^{\circ}$ and the guide vane installation angle is $60^{\circ}$. Based on the analytical results, the defrosting experiment was performed by fabricating the defrost nozzle and the guide vane. As a result of the experiment, it is confirmed that the frost of windshield is removed by 80% within 20 minutes, and it is judged that the defrost performance satisfying the FVMSS 103 specification is secured.
