A passive power converter operating on the principle of parametric excitation, called Parametric transformer, is analyzed. The energy transfer from the input to the output is achieved through the double frequency variation of magnetic path reluctance to the input frequency without mutual flux coupling between two windings. Thus, output becomes available which is essentially independant of waveform of excitation. The mathmatical model of the device is developed and its solution is obtained. The outstanding characteristics of the device is explained from the analysis.
The sensitivity of induction watthour meter was reviewed by characteristic tests under the effects of each input harmonics and the variation of power factor of inverter input/output terminal. This paper presents experimental data on the characteristics of induction watthour meter under the effect of harmonics.
A model predictive control method is applied to design an automatic controller for thermal power control in a reactor core. The basic concept of the model predictive control is to solve an optimization problem for a finite future at current time and to implement as the current control input only the first optimal control input among the solutions of the finite time steps. At the next time step, the second optimal control input is not implemented and the procedure to solve the optimization problem is then repeated. The objectives of the proposed model predictive controller are to minimize the difference between the output and the desired output and the variation of the control rod position. The nonlinear PWR plant model (a nonlinear point kinetics equation with six delayed neutron groups and the lumped thermal-hydraulic balance equations) is used to verify the proposed controller of reactor power. And a controller design model used for designing the model predictive controller is obtained by applying a parameter estimation algorithm at an initial stage. From results of numerical simulation to check the controllability of the proposed controller at the $5\%/min$ ramp increase or decrease of a desired load and its $10\%$ step increase or decrease which are design requirements, the performances of this controller are proved to be excellent.

The employment of the induction generator is preferable in the natural energy utilization by the minimum maintenance and the mechanical robustness, Another merit is also expected when it is connected to the power network system, because constant-voltage and constant frequency (CVCF) power generation is easily realized in spite of the variation of the rotor speed. However the induction generator needs much amount of the reactive power that reduces power factor in the primary side. The improvement of power factor in the primary side requires large VAR compensator, this point is solved, the merit of the induction machine as a main generator will become more established. This paper proposes a novel approach where the secondary is controlled by a PWM inverter not only to get CVCF power but also to improve the primary power factor. Basically the inverter is controlled so that the field current is supplied from the secondary side in this approach. The required capacity of the inverter is small, because only the slip power is controlled in the secondary side. In the experimental system where the sea wave torque simulator is used, the power factor is well improved by the microcomputer controlled PWM inverter.
This paper presents a direct single-stage power converter using single-phase isolated full-bridge converter modules, with inherent power factor correction (PFC) for a 12 kW switched mode power supply (SMPS). The advantages of the proposed converter are its simple control strategy, reduction in number of conversion stage, low input line current harmonics, and improvement in power factor. Analysis of the single-stage converter is carried out in continuous conduction mode of operation. Steady-state analysis of the proposed converter is conducted to obtain converter parameters. A systematic design procedure is also presented for a 12k W converter with a design example. The effect of load variation on SMPS is also studied in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed converter for the complete range of load conditions. A set of power quality indices on input ac mains for an SMPS fed from a single-stage converter is also presented for easy comparison of their performance.
A Single-Stage Single-Switch power-factor- correction(PFC) AC/DC Converter with universal input is presented in this paper. The PFC Converter can be achieved based upon the continuous current mode(CCM). The switch has less current and voltage stresses over a wide range of load variation so that a low voltage rating device can be used. The presented converter features high power factor high efficiency, and low cost. An 90W prototype was implemented to show that it has 70% efficiency with low voltage stress over universal line input.

DC/DC switching power converters produce DC output voltages from different stable DC input sources regulated by a bi-polar transistor. The converters can be used in regenerative braking of DC motors to return energy back in the supply, resulting in energy savings for the systems containing frequent stops. The voltage mode DC/DC converter is composed of a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller, a MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor), an inductor, and capacitors, etc. PWM is applied to control and regulate the total output voltage. It is shown that the output of DC/DC converter depends on the variation of threshold voltage at MOSFET and the variation of pulse width. In the PWM operation, the missing pulses, the changes in pulse width, and a change in the period of the output waveform are studied by SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) and experiments.
In this paper, controller for PWM converter considering unsymetrical input voltage is designed and current controller using LQ controller with conditional integrator is proposed. And the proposed current controller is compared with other current controller-predictive controller, decoupling PI controller. As simulation results, LQ controller with Conditional Integrator shows the improved performance for DC link voltage regulation through transient test of load variation. And when unsymeritrical input voltage is applied to converter with conventional current controller considering only symetrical input voltage, input current is distorted but it is showed that current controller considering unsymetrical input has robust control characteristics under phase voltage unbalance.

Electric utilities has been considered the necessity to introduce asset management of electric power facilities in order to reduce maintenance cost of existing facilities and to maximize profit. This paper aims to provide data that can helpful to make profitable decision in terms of power transformers which have a significant part in the power system. Therefore, this study is modeling input cost for power transformer during its entire life and also the life cycle cost (LCC) technique is applied. In particular, the variation of transformer state related with maintenance and the variation of the EUAC curve based on cost and effect of maintenance is examined. In this study, the trend of the equivalent uniform annual cost (EUAC) according to maintenance cycle and cost of equipment is analyzed. In line with that, sensitivity analysis influenced by the changes of other cost factors was performed.
This paper proposes a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) self-resonant wireless power transmission system for transmitting power to multiple receivers and the characteristics are simulated and measured. A 600 mm diameter transmission single loop, a 600 mm diameter helical transmission resonant coil, an external diameter 900 mm planar spiral reception resonant coil, and an $80{\times}60mm^2$ flat plate square coil as a receiver are used to form a wireless power transmission system 600 mm away with the table structure. For optimal characteristics, the wireless power transmission coils are designed by EM simulation and equivalent circuit analysis, and the characteristics are simulated and measured. The variation of the efficiency with distance from the center of the spiral resonant coil is analyzed and the measured efficiency is 57% for one receiver and for the two receivers, the efficiency is 37% for each receiver.
