  • This work deals with the synthesis of discrete-time nonlinear controller for input time-delay existing nonlinear system and proposes a new effective method to compensate the influence of input time-delay. The controller is synthesised by using input/output linearization. Under the circumstance that input time-delay exist, controller have to produce future value that will be needed for system. On account of this reason described, a weighted average predictor of combined states is adopted. Using the discretization via Euler method, numerical simulations about Van der Pol system are performed to evaluate performance of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture of the asynchronous shared-bus type switch with priority and fairness schemes. The switch architecture is an input and output queueing system, and the priority scheme is implemented in both input and output queues. We analyze packet delay of both input and output queues. In the analysis, we consider to stations with asymmetric arrival rates. Although we make some approximations in the analysis, the numerical results show good agreements with the simulation results.

  • An input-output buffering switch operates in either of tow different cell loss modes; Backpressure mode and Queueloss mode. In the previous studies, the Backpressrue mode is more effective at low traffic loads, and the Queueloss mode performs better at high traffic. We propose a new operation mode, called Hybrid mode, which adopts the advantages of he Backpressure and the Queueloss mode. Backpressure and Queueloss modes are distinguished from whether a cell loss occurs at the output buffer or not when output buffer overflows, irrespective of input buffer status. In order to simply combine Backpressure and Queueloss mode, the change of input traffic load must be measured. However, in the Hybrid mode, simply both of the input and output buffer overflow and checked out to determine the cell discard. The performance of the Hybrid mode is compared with those of the Backpressure and the Queueloss mode under random and bursty traffic. This paper show that the Hybrid mode always gives the best performance results for most ranges of load values.

  • Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is one of ways to convert mechanical energy sound, waves, wind, vibrations, and human motions to available electrical energy. The principal mechanism to generate electrical energy is based on contact electrification on material surface and electrostatic induction between electrodes. The performance of TENG are dependent on amount of the input mechanical energy and characteristics of triboelectric materials. Furthermore, the whole TENG system including mechanical structure and electrical system can effect on output performance of TENG. In this work, we investigated the effect of gear train on output performance and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of TENG under a given input energy. We applied the gear train on mechanical structure to improve the contact rate. We measured the output energy under a constant input energy by controlling the size of the working gear. We prepared gears with gear ratios (rin/rw) of 1, 1.7, and 5. Under the constant input energy, the voltage and current from our gear-based TENG system were enhanced up to the maximum of 3.6 times and 4.4 times, respectively. Also, the PCE was increased up to 7 times at input frequency of 1.5 Hz. In order to understand the effect of kinematic design on TENG system, we performed a capacitor experiment with rectification circuit that provide DC voltage and current. Under the input frequency of 4.5 Hz, we obtained a 3 times enhanced rectifying voltage at a gear ratio of 5. The measured capacitor voltage was enhanced up to about 8 fold in using our TENG system. It is attributed that our gear-based TENG system could improve simultaneously the magnitude as well as the generation time of output power, finally enhancing output energy. Therefore, our gear-based TENG system provided an effective way to enhance the PCE of TENGs operating at a given input energy.

  • This study attempts to develop a stochastic system model for extension and prediction of monthly runoff series in river basins where the observed runoff data are insufficient although there are long-term hydrometeorological records. For this purpose, univariate models of a seasonal ARIMA type are derived from the time series analysis of monthly runoff, monthly precipitation and monthly evaporation data with trend and periodicity. Also, a causual model of multiple input-single output relationship that take monthly precipitation and monthly evaporation as input variables-monthly runoff as output variable is built by the cross-correlation analysis of each series. The performance of the univariate model and the multiple input-output model were examined through comparisons between the historical and the generated monthly runoff series. The results reveals that the multiple input-output model leads to the improved accuracy and wide range of applicability when extension and prediction of monthly runoff series is required.

  • This paper is concerned with the active vibration control of a grid structure equipped with piezoceramic sensors and actuators. The grid structure is a replica of the solar panel commonly mounted on satellites, which contains complex natural mode shapes. The multi input and multi output positive position feedback controller is considered as an active vibration controller for the grid structure. A new concept, the block-inverse technique, is proposed to cope with more modes than the number of actuators and sensors. This study also deals with the stability and the spillover effect associated with the application of the multi-input multi-output positive position feedback controller based on the block inverse technique. It was found that the theories developed in this study are capable of predicting the control system characteristics and its performance. The new multi-input multi-output positive position feedback controller was applied to the test structure using a digital signal processor and its efficacy was verified by experiments..

  • This paper presents a data-based stability analysis of a MIMO linear time-invariant discrete-time system, as an extension of the previous results for a SISO system. In the MIMO case, a similar discussion as in the case of a SISO system is also applied, except that an augmented input and output space is considered whose dimension is determined in relation to both the orders of the input and output vectors and the numbers of inputs and outputs. As certain subspaces of the input and output space, both output data space and closed-loop data space are defined, which contain all the behaviors of a system, respectively, with zero input in open-loop and with a control input in closed-loop. Then, we can derive the data-based stability conditions, in which the open-loop stability can be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the output data space and the closed-loop stability can also be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the closed-loop data space.

  • In this paper, we consider the broadcast switch architecture for hish performance multicast packet switching. In input and output buffered switch, we propose a new switch architecture which supports high throughput in broadcast packet switching with switch planes of single input and multiple output crossbars. The proposed switch architecture has a central arbiter that arbitrates requests from plural input ports and generates multiple grant signals to multiple output ports in a packet transmission slot. It provides high speed pipelined arbitration and large scale switching capacity.

  • The inter-industrial inducement effects of the Korean railway services on the output, value-added, and imports of 383 industrial sectors of the Korean economy have been computed by the input-output analysis technique utilizing the '2013 Input-Output Statistics', which was published most recently in December 2015 by the Bank of Korea. The research results are, then, compared and contrasted with the former research results with the '2003 Input-0utput Statistics', which were published in the Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, August, 2008. The economic inducement effects computed in this study are as follows. The Korean railway service industry produced \5,841 billion worth of passenger and freight railroad services in the year 2013, and it induced \8,511 billion worth of output, \84 billion worth of value-added, and \1,050 billion worth of imports for Korean industry as a whole.; the production inducement multiplier, value-added multiplier, and imports inducement multiplier of 2013 results are shown to be quite different from 2003 multipliers.; it has been shown that it is necessary to utilize the most recent Input-Output Statistics for the computation of the most recent inter-industrial analysis.
