IoT devices frequently require input resources to communicate with various sensors or IoT platforms. IoT device wastes a lot of time as idle time or waiting time to check the data of the input resource and use the input resource. In addition, IoT devices use various input resources. We compares and analyzes input idle time and input waiting time generated from hardware serial input resource, software serial input resource, digital port input resource, and analog port input resource using Arduino widely used as IoT device. In order to design the IoT device framework, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of input resources and to design them to minimize unnecessary input idle time and input waiting time. The analog input wait time has a much larger input wait time than the digital input wait time, so it must be designed to receive analog information periodically at the appropriate timing. The characteristics of the input resources analyzed in this way help to design an efficient IoT device.

Input shaping is known to be a very effective tool for suppressing residual vibration without introducing any complicated sensors and feedback control. Real-time input shaping schemes necessitate a process such that the input command is discretized to deal with non-prescribed, real-time input. Thus parameters associated with input command discretization, such as time spacing and duration time, are unknowns which affect the performance of input shaping schemes, especially for small and fast XY stages. This paper investigates the effects of input command discretization parameters, such as time spacing and duration time, on the dynamic performance of XY stages subjected to real-time input shaping. An experimental system is developed which is equipped with an XY stage driven by servo-motors and real-time user command. Experiments are performed to investigate the dynamic performance of XY stage by changing these parameters and to yield a strategy to gain better performance.
In most physical processes, the transfer function includes time-delay, and in the general distributed control system using computer network, there exists inherent time-delay caused by the spatial separation between controllers and actuators. This work deals with the synthesis of a discrete-time controller for a nonlinear system and proposes a new effective method to compensate the influence of input time-delay. The controller is synthesized by using input/output linearization. Under the circumstance that input time-delay exists, the system response has more overshoot and tends to diverge. For these reasons, the controller has to produce future input value that will be needed for the system. In order to calculate the future input value, some predictors are adopted. Using the discretization via Euler's method, numerical simulations about the Van der Pol system are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.
The use of energy concepts in seismic analysis and design of structures requires the understanding of the input energy response of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) systems subjected to strong ground motions. For design purposes and non-time consuming analysis, however, it would be beneficial to associate the input energy response of MDOF systems with those of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems. In this paper, the theoretical formulation of energy input to MDOF systems is developed on the basis that only a particular portion of the total mass distributed among floor levels is effective in the nth-mode response. The input energy response histories of several reinforced concrete frames subjected to a set of eleven horizontal acceleration histories selected from actual recorded events and scaled in time domain are obtained. The contribution of the fundamental mode to the total input energy response of MDOF frames is demonstrated both graphically and numerically. The input energy of the fundamental mode is found to be a good indicator of the total energy input to two-dimensional regular MDOF structures. The numerical results computed by the proposed formulation are verified with relative input energy time histories directly computed from linear time history analysis. Finally, the elastic input energies are compared with those computed from time history analysis of nonlinear MDOF systems.
This work deals with the synthesis of discrete-time nonlinear controller for input time-delay existing nonlinear system and proposes a new effective method to compensate the influence of input time-delay. The controller is synthesised by using input/output linearization. Under the circumstance that input time-delay exist, controller have to produce future value that will be needed for system. On account of this reason described, a weighted average predictor of combined states is adopted. Using the discretization via Euler method, numerical simulations about Van der Pol system are performed to evaluate performance of the proposed method.

A new discretization algorithm for nonlinear systems with delayed input is proposed. The algorithm is represented by Taylor series expansion and ZOH assumption. This method is applied to the sampled-data representation of a nonlinear system with the time-delay input. Additionally, the delay in input is time varying and its amplitude is bounded. The maximum time-delay in input is assumed to be two sampling periods. The mathematical expressions of the discretization method are presented and the ability of the algorithm is tested for some of the examples. The computer simulation proves the proposed algorithm discretizes the nonlinear system with the variable time-delay input accurately.

This paper presents an experimental result of virtual mode input shaping for positioning stage. Input shaping is liable to increase the rise time of the system, which often degrades the performance of system. The virtual mode input, shaping is an input shaper design method to improve this problem. Experiments are performed with a precise positioning stage with a flexible beam of which natural frequency is adjustable. The experimental results show that the virtual-mode shaper is useful to reduce the rise time as well as the residual vibration of precise positioning stages.

The input estimation method estimates maneuvering input acceleration in order to track a maneuvering target. In this paper, the optimal input estimator is derived by choosing the MAP hypothesis among maneuvering input transition hypotheses under the assumption that a maneuvering input acceleration is a semi-Markov process. The optimal input estimation method cannot be realized because the optimal filter should consider every maneuver onset time hypothesis from filter starting time to current time which increase rapidly. Hence the suboptimal filter using a sliding window is proposed. Since the proposed method can consider all hypotheses of input transitions inside the window, it is general enough to include Bogler's input estimation method. Simulation results show, however, that we can obtain a good performance even when the filter considering just one input transition in the window is used. (author). 9 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab.

Input shaping is an efficient tool to eliminate transient and residual vibration caused by motion of mechanical systems. However, the rise time of the systems tends to increase due to the presence of input shapers. This paper is concerned with the rise time reduction when using input shaping. To this end, this paper proposes an input shaper design method for an undamped single mode vibration system using a virtual mode, which is not an actual mode but reflected in the design process. The essence of the proposed method is to design a three-impulse input shaper as if a single mode system has two modes: one actual mode and one virtual mode. The natural frequency of the virtual mode is a design parameter to change the rise time of the system. This paper discusses the performance of the proposed input shapers by simulation.
As mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and kiosks become increasingly prevalent, there is growing interest in developing alternative input systems in addition to traditional tools such as keyboards and mouses. Many people use their own bodies as a pointer to enter simple information on a mobile device. However, methods using the body have limitations due to psychological factors that make the contact method unstable, especially during a pandemic, and the risk of shoulder surfing attacks. To overcome these limitations, we propose a simple information input system that utilizes gaze-tracking technology to input passwords and control web surfing using only non-contact gaze. Our proposed system is designed to recognize information input when the user stares at a specific location on the screen in real-time, using intelligent gaze-tracking technology. We present an analysis of the relationship between the gaze input box, gaze time, and average input time, and report experimental results on the effects of varying the size of the gaze input box and gaze time required to achieve 100% accuracy in inputting information. Through this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our system in mitigating the challenges of contact-based input methods, and providing a non-contact alternative that is both secure and convenient.
