The present study was carried out to investigate the P fractions of surfical sediment of Dongjin sea area. Furthermore, potential released loading of adsorbed and non-apatite inorganic phosphorus were investigated in the sediment of Dongjin sea area. The contents of phosphorus fractions of the surficial sediment in Dongjin sea area were adsorbed-P 0.06%, nonapatite inorganic-P 13.02%, apatite-P 60.22%, and residual-P 26.70%. The most abundant fraction was apatite-P, residual-P, nonapatite inorganic-P, and adsorbed-P followed it. Potential released loading of adsorbed and non-apatite inorganic phosphorus surveyed 2.6 and 597ton respectively. These results show that sediment-managing and interception from external pollution are needed for water environmental maintenance of Dongjin sea area.

This study evaluated the effects of fibers on the void ratio, compressive strength and repeated freezing and thawing resistance of porous vegetation concrete with binder type (non-sintering inorganic binder and blast furnace slag cement) and natural jute fiber volume fraction (0.0 %, 0.1 % and 0.2 %). The natural jute fiber volume fraction affected the void ratio, compressive strength and repeated freezing and thawing resistance. Added of natural jute fiber resulted in improved properties of the void ratio, compressive strength and freezing and thawing resistance. Also, the both compressive strength and freezing and thawing resistance increased with natural jute fiber volume fraction up to 0.1 % and then decreased with fiber volume fraction at 0.2 %.
1.Each cells homogenized from Undaria were reacted in reaction micture to persue the phosphate metabolism in Undaria cell. Aliquots of the cells were taken out at the begin-ning and at intervals during the reaction, and analyzed for the content of total-P in various fractions of the cell constituents. 2.The P-contents in fraction of polyphosphate "B" decreased remarkably, while that in fraction of RNA polyphosphate "C" showed slow increase. 3.As well as in Chlorella cells, inorganic phosphates in DNA-P, protein-P, and lipid-P were transferred from polyphosphate, RNA-P turnovered from inorganic phosphate that is in cytoplasm, and RNA polyphosphate complex from polyphosphate, and it was suggested that inorganic phosphates in polyphosphate "B" could transformed into polyphosphate "A" & "C", and polyphosphate "C" into polyphosphate "A".
Effect of abnormal grain growth and heat treatment time on the electrical properties of donor-doped semiconductive BaTiO$_3$ceramics was examined. La-doped BaTiO$_3$ceramics was sintered at 134$0^{\circ}C$ for different times from 10 to 600 min in order to change the volume fraction of the abnormal grains in samples. As a result, samples with different volume fraction of abnormal grain growth from 22 to 100% were prepared. The samples were annealed at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for various times. The resistivity of the sam-ples at room and above Curie temperature was examined. The complex impedance measurement as functions of the volume fraction of abnormal grains and annealing time was conducted. Separation of complex impedance semicircle was observed in a sample in which abnormal and fine grains coexist. The results are discussed from a viewpoint of microstructure-property relationship.
Leaching ($60^{\circ}C$, 5 min) and wet torrefaction ($200^{\circ}C$, 5 min) of empty fruit bunch (EFB) were carried out to improve the fuel properties; each liquid fraction was reused for leaching and wet torrefaction, respectively. In the leaching process, potassium was effectively removed because the leaching solution contained 707.5 ppm potassium. Inorganic compounds were accumulated in the leaching solution by increasing the reuse cycle of leaching solution. The major component of the leached biomass did not differ significantly from the raw material (p-value < 0.05). Inorganic compounds in the biomass were more effectively removed by sequential leaching and wet torrefaction (61.1%) than by only the leaching process (50.1%) at the beginning of the liquid fraction reuse. In the sequential leaching and wet torrefaction, the main hydrolysate component was xylose (2.36~4.17 g/L). This implied that hemicellulose was degraded during wet torrefaction. As in the leaching process, potassium was effectively removed and the concentration was accumulated by increasing the reuse cycle of wet torrefaction hydrolysates. There was no significant change in the chemical composition of wet torrefied biomass, which implied that fuel properties of biomass were constantly maintained by the reuse (four times) of the liquid fraction generated from leaching and wet torrefaction.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD) are based on sequential, self-limiting surface reactions that produce atomic layer controlled and conformal thin film growth. ALD can deposit inorganic films and MLD can deposit films containing organics. ALD and MLD can be used together to fabricate a wide range of hybrid organic-inorganic alloy films. The relative fraction of inorganic and organic constituents can be defined by controlling the ratio of the ALD and MLD reaction cycles used to grow the film. These hybrid films can be tuned to obtain desirable mechanical, electrical and optical properties. This talk will focus on the growth and properties of metal alkoxide films grown using metal precursors and various organic alcohols that are known as "metalcones". The talk will highlight the tunable mechanical properties of alucone alloys grown using Al2O3 ALD and alucone MLD and the tunable electrical conductivity of zincone alloys grown using ZnO ALD and zincone MLD with DEZ and hydroquinone as the reactants.
Soil respiration has been recognized as a key factor of the change of organic matter and fertility due to the carbon and nitrogen mineralization. In this study, we evaluated the effect of soil respiration on the light fraction-C and inorganic N content depending on temperature in soil applied with organic matter. Soil respiration was calculated by using total $CO_2$ flux released from soil applied with $2Mg\;ha^{-1}$ of rice straw compost and rye for 8 weeks incubation at 15, 25, $35^{\circ}C$ under incubation test. After incubation test, light fraction and inorganic N content were investigated. Rye application dramatically increased soil respiration with increasing temperature. $Q_{10}$ value of rye application was 1.69, which was higher 27% than that of rice straw compost application. Light-C and $NO_3-N$ contents were negatively correlated to soil respiration. Light-C in rye application more decreased than that in rice straw compost with temperature levels. These results indicate that temperature sensitivity of soil respiration could affect soil organic mater content and N availability in soil due to carbon availability. Also, light fraction would be useful indicator to evaluate decomposition rate of organic matter in soil under a short-term test.
Chemical properties of aerosols were investigated by analyzing the inorganic water-soluble content in $PM_{2.5}$ collected in the downtown area of Jeju City in Jeju Island. Due to an increase in both the number of visiting tourists and the size of local population, the number of cars in this area is increasing, causing an increase in $PM_{2.5}$. Eight $PM_{2.5}$-bound major inorganic ions were analyzed during the summer and winter periods. The water-soluble inorganic component represents a significant fraction of $PM_{2.5}$. In particular, secondary inorganic aerosols contribute 36.2% and 47.5% of $PM_{2.5}$ mass in summer and winter, respectively. Nitrate concentrations increase for $[NH_4{^+}]/[SO_4{^{2-}}]$>1.5, and excess ammonium, which is necessary for ammonium nitrate formation, is linearly correlated with nitrate. These results are clearly observed during the winter because conditions are more conducive to the formation of ammonium nitrate. A significant negative correlation between Nitrogen Oxidation Ratio (NOR) and temperature was observed. The obtained results can be useful for a better understanding of the aerosol dynamics in the downtown area in Jeju City.
Silicon carbide-carbon fiber composites have been prepared by partially Infiltrating porous carbon fiber composites with liquid silicon at a reaction temperature of $1670^{\circ}C$. Reaction between molten silicon and the fiber preform yielded silicon carbide-carbon fiber composites composed of aggregates of loosely bonded SiC crystallites of about 10$\mu\textrm{m}$ in size and preserved the appearance of a fiber. In addition, the SiC/C fiber composites had carbon fibers coated with a dense layer consisted of SiC particles of sizes smaller than 1$\mu\textrm{m}$. The physical and mechanical properties of SiC/C fiber composites were discussed in terms of infiltrated pore volume fraction of carbon preform occupied by liquid silicon at the beginning of reaction. Lower bending strength of the SiC/C fiber composites which had a heterogeneous structure in nature, was attributed to the disruption of geometric configuration of the original carbon fiber preform and the formation of the fibrous aggregates of the loosely bonded coarse SiC particles produced by solution-precipitation mechanism.
In the process of the incorporation of orthophsphate into protein and other cell constituents, the role of inorganic polyphosphate and RNA-polyphosphate complex and the correlation between them were pursued by analyzing the contents of $^{32}P$ and total P in various fractions of Chlorella cells, which had been uniformly labeled with $^{32}P$ before the inoculation in a normal "cold" medium or P-free medium during the culture. The effects of ionizing radiation and various micronutritional-element deficiencies on the phosphate incorporation into, and biosynthesis of, protein and other introgenus compounds in the cells were also observed. When the uniformly $^{32}P$-labeled algae were grown in a normal "cold" medium the contents of $^{32}$ P in the fractions of protein, DNA and RNA-polyphosphate complex increased, but those in the fraction of acid-insoluble polyphosphate decreased. On the other hand, amount of $^{32}P$in the fraction of RNA was almost unchanged in spite of rapid increase of the total P. In the growing period of $^{32}P$-labeled algae in a P-free medium, amounts of $^{32}P$ in the fractions of DNA, protein and lipid increased, while those in the fractions of RNA-polyphosphate and inorganic polyphosphates decreased. When the algal cells were irradiated with about 70, 000r of gamma-rays before the inoculation in the medium, amounts of phosphate in the fractions of DNA, RNA, nucleotides and protein decreased during the culture, compared with those of the control. However, the phosphate content in the fraction of acid-insoluble polyphosphate of the irradiated cells increased than those of the control. In the growing period of the algae in a Mo-free, medium, amounts of acid-soluble total phosphate and nucleotides of the cells increased, while the amounts of residual protein and RNA decresed compared with those of the normal cells. Amounts of alkali-labile protein and phospholipid of the cells grown in a B-free medium decreased, whereas amount of phosphate in acid-soluble fraction increased compared with the control. In general, the contents of protein and RNA in each microelement deficient cells decreased more or less, compared with those in the normal cells.in the normal cells.
