Study on Installed Performance Simulation of Aircraft Gas-Turbine Engine Considering Inlet and Exhaust Losses (흡배기구 손실예측 및 이를 고려한 항공기 가스터빈의 장착 성능모사 연구)

  • Experimental study has been a general way to evaluate inlet and exhaust duct performances, but this is not only costly but also time consuming. Computational simulation is hence replacing experimental study and consequently time and cost saving. This paper therefore aims to investigate typical component performance of the intake and exhaust ducts using 3D representation. In this study a specific inlet and exhaust was modeled and analyzed to estimate its losses and flow field using computational fluid dynamic program with flow visualization capabilities. A process that requires geometry data to be modeled. That allowed for possibility of design trade off in designing phase. Installed performance of a specific turbo shaft engine was finally evaluated with the estimated inlet, exhaust and other accessories losses.

A Numerical Study on Flow Control Structure of a New-Type Submerged Breakwater (신기능 잠제의 흐름 제어 기능에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • In case of constructing submerged breakwaters, the circulation current is occurred around the open inlet because of mean water level difference between front and rear sides of them. The aim of this study is to investigate the flow control structure of new-type submerged breakwater which is able to reduce mean water level at rear side of it. At first, the numerical model (LES-WASS-3D) is validated by comparing with existing experimental data. And then, numerical simulation is carried out to examine wave height, mean water level and mean flow around the newtype submerged breakwater. From the numerical results, it can be pointed out that the new-type submerged breakwater with drainage system reduces the rip current around the open inlet.

Inter-basin water transfer modeling from Seomjin river to Yeongsan river using SWAT (SWAT을 이용한 섬진강에서 영산강으로의 유역간 물이동 모델링)

  • This study is to establish the situation of inter-basin transfer from Seomjin river basin to Yeongsan river basin using SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool). Firstly, the SWAT modeling was conducted for each river basin. After, the inter-basin transfer was established using SWAT reservoir operating parameters WURESN (Water Use Reservoir Withdrawn) and inlet function from Juam dam of Seomjin river basin to Gwangju stream of Yeongsan river basin respectively. Each river basin was calibrated and validated using 13 years (2005~2017) data of Seomjin- Juam dam reservoir storage (JAD), release, transfer and Yeongsan-Mareuk (MR) stream gauge station. The results of root mean square error RMSE, Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency NSE, and determination coefficient R2 of JAD were 2.22 mm/day, 0.62 and 0.86 respectively. The RMSE, NSE, and R2 of MR were 1.38 mm/day, 0.69 and 0.84 respectively. To evaluate the downstream effects by the transferred water, the water levels of 2 multi-function weirs (SCW, JSW) in Yeongsan river basin and the Gokseong (GS) and Gurye (GR) stream gauge stations in Seomjin river basin were also calibrated. The RMSE, NSE, and R2 of SCW, JSW, GS and GR were 1.49~2.49 mm/day, 0.45~0.76, 0.81~0.90 respectively.

Development of interception capacity equations according to grate inlet types (빗물받이 형상에 따른 차집량 산정식 개발)

  • Recently, natural disasters, which are hard to predict and prevent, are rapidly increasing due to climate change worldwide. Particularly the damage scale of urban areas is increasing because of local torrential rainfall. In urban areas, the rain water cannot flow to pipes well due to the high percentage of impervious areas by the indiscriminate development. As a result, the inundation damage is getting higher in urban areas. So we need to characterize the interception of the grate inlets to ensure good drainage in impervious areas. But Korean installation criteria of grate inlets does not reflect road and drainage sector characteristics so the grate inlets do not function properly in many areas. In this study, we suggest the interception capacity equations about grate inlets through hydraulic experiments in various conditions. Therefore, the interception capacity changes are analyzed according to bearing bar slopes of grate inlets, grate inlet sizes and shapes and connecting pipe numbers. Though this, we developed the interception capacity equations about domestic grate inlets.

Development of an Optimization Technique of CETOP-D Inlet Flow Factor for Reactor Core Thermal Margin Improvement (원자로심의 열적여유도 증대를 위한CETOP-D의 입구유량인자 최적화 기법 개발)

  • The recent ABB/CE(Asea Brown Boveri Combustion Engineering) type pressurized oater reactor-s have the on-line monitoring system, i.e., the COLSS(core operating limit supervisory system), to prevent the specified acceptable fuel design limits from being violated during normal operation and anticipated operational occurrences. One of the main functions of COLSS is the on-line monitoring of the DNB(departure from nucleate boiling) overpower margin by calculating the MDNBR(mini-mum DNB ratio) for the measured operating condition at every second. The CETOP-D model, used in the MDNBR calculation of COLSS, is benchmarked conservatively against the TORC mod-el using an inlet flow factor of hot assembly in CETOP-D as an adjustment factor for TORC. In this study, a technique to optimize the CETOP-D inlet flow factor has been developed by elim-inating the excessive conservatism in the ABB/CE's. A correlation is introduced to account for the actual variation of the CETOP-D inlet flow factor within the core operating limits. This technique was applied to the core operating range of the YongGwang Units 3&4 Cycle 1, which results in the increase of 2% in the DNB overpower margin at the normal operating condition, compared with that from the ABB/CE method.

  • 전기 유압식 좌심실 보조장치에서 모터 전류 파형을 정보로 하여 작동기의 이완기 속도를 조절함으로써 좌심방으로부터 유입되는 혈류량을 조절하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 좌심실 보조장치(Left Ventricular Assist Device, LVAD)는 허혈성 심장질환 등으로 좌심실 의 혈액 박출 기능이 저하된 환자에게 시술하여 정상 상태의 심박출량을 유지할 수 있도록 하는 보조 혈액 박출 기능이이다. 전기 유압식 좌심실 보조장치에서는 혈액의 유입이 능동 적으로 이루어지므로, 좌심방 함몰로 인한 심근 손상 및 외부 공기 유입으로 인한 색전증을 방지하기 위해 유입혈류량을 현재 좌심방내의 상태에 따라 적절히 조절해 주어야 한다. 좌 심방 내의 혈액량 정도는 혈액을 유입해 내는 작동기의 이완기 동작 시에 소모되는 에너지 크기에 반영되고, 작동기를 구동하는 모터에 들어가는 전류의 크기는 작동기에 공급되는 에 너지에 비례하므로, 이전류 파형의 정보들을 통해 좌심방내의 상태를 추정해 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 퍼지로직을 적용하여 모터 전류 파형의 정보들을 통해 좌심방 내의 상태를 추정 해 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 퍼지로직을 적용하여 모터 전류 파형의 이상 유무를 판단한 뒤 에에 따라 작동기의 이완기 속도를 조절하는 알고리즘을 개발하여 모의순환장치 실험을 통해 그 실효성을 검증한 결과를 정리하였다.

  • Global efforts to reduce carbon emissions have focused attention on the development of hydrogen energy and the development of various hydrogen mobility requires mobile hydrogen charging stations. In this study, the flow characteristics of the flow control hydrogen valve for mobile hydrogen charging equipment were studied according to the temperature change of hydrogen gas. The inlet pressure was 100 MPa, the outlet pressure to 70 MPa, and temperature condition was set -40℃ to 85℃. As a result, the difference in the valve flow coefficient, which determines the capacity of the valve, showed a difference within 5% depending on the temperature.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the function of the paddy-field in purifying water quality. This study was carried out is based on the data in the six case studies. To improve purification function of paddy field, the following farming management is required. 1) A guideline to control the inlet and outlet of the paddy plot is need to minimize drainage water by means of a reasonable irrigation management. 2) A guideline for fertilizer application in consideration of loading nutrients dissolved in irrigation water. 3) The reuse system of agricultural drainage water is required to minimize impacts on water quality of surface water(reservoir and river).

  • In this paper, we present the sweeping machine with cyclone type dust collector for cleaning shipment exterior wall. Important cyclone characteristics such as the collection efficiency, pressure and velocity fields have been discussed and compared with the experimental data. The purpose of this study is to introduce the mechanism design of the high efficiency sweeping machine using the cyclone dust collector. Generally, the increase of inlet velocity of air in a cyclone dust collector improves the separation efficiency, while it results in increasing in the pressure losses nonlinearly.

  • Natural gas through pipeline is supplied to consumers after its pressure gets down compulsorily. The waste pressure energy of this process can be restored by use of turbo expander which can produce electricity. So, turbo expander conducts two functions - pressure reduction and power generation. The power amount is the enthalpy difference between the inlet and outlet states. The five main factors which affect economic profit are facility price, produced power amount, pre-heating amount, electricity cost, and fuel gas cost. Power generation depends mainly on flow amount because inlet and outlet states are fixed. A methodology to estimate economy in irregular flow pattern is proposed and using this way, a case study was carried out.
