The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural safety at the topside weldment of hull structure, which was welded after launching. For it, the variations of residual stress and distortion at the topside weldment with loading conditions such as hull girder hogging bending moment after launching and free initial loading state was evaluated by using FEA. And the maximum stress range at the weldment under design loads specified by classification society was evaluated by FEA. In this case, the residual stress and welding distortion at the topside weldment was assumed to be initial imperfection. In accordance with FEA results, regardless of initial loading condition, tensile residual stress was found. However, the residual stress and welding distortion at the topside weldment produced under hogging condition was less than those of topside weldment under free loading state. That is, the amount of residual stress at the topside weldment decreased with an increase in the amount of tension load caused by hogging condition. It was because the compressive thermal strain at the topside weldment produced during welding was reduced by tensile load. However, the maximum stress range at the topside weldment under maximum hull girder bending moment was almost similar regardless of initial loading condition. So, if the problem related to the soundness of weldment is not introduced by initial load, the effect of initial loading condition during welding on fatigue strength of topside weldment could be negligible.
Biohydrogen production from food waste via dark fermentation was conducted by using mixed culture under various environmental conditions (initial pH, initial F/M ratio, initial ferrous iron ($Fe^{2+}$), and temperature condition) in batch reactor. The results revealed that the maximum hydrogen yield of $46.19mL\;H_2/g\;COD_{add}$ was achieved at the optimal conditions (initial pH 8.0, initial F/M ratio 4.0, initial iron concentration 100 mg $FeSO_4/L$ and thermophilic condition ($55{\pm}1^{\circ}C$)). Furthermore, major volatile fatty acid (VFA) productions of butyrate (765.66 mg/L) and acetate (324.69 mg/L) were detected and COD removal efficiency was detected at 66.00%. Therefore, these optimal conditions could be recommended to operate a system.
A rigorous dynamic simulation was performed in binary gas mixture H$_{2}$/CO (70:30 vol.%) to determinate start-up operating conditions of PSA(Pressure Swing Adsorption) processes. The rigorous dynamic model for the PSA process contains an Ergun equation for expressing the pressure drop in a bed, and valve equations to compute the boundary pressure change of the bed. As the result of the continuous dynamic simulation of 100 operating cyles in various initial conditions, the unsteady-state appeared in the early period and the cyclic steady-state came out about 20th cycle in feed condition and vaccum condition, and 30th cycle in pure H$_{2}$ condition. As time goes by valve equations made change the pressure at each end of the bed in ressurization, countercurrunt-depressurization and pressure equalization steps. The H$_{2}$ purity and the recovery is 99.99% and 86.73% respectively, which is slightly higher than the experimental data. Main contributiion of this study includes supplying fundamental technologies of handling combined variables PSA processes by developing rigorous models.

This paper presents a problem that reconfigure distribution power system using branch exchange method. Optimal reconfiguration problem calculates line loss, voltage condition about system states of all situations that become different according to line On/off status, and search for optimum composition of these. However, result is difficult to be calculated fast. Because radiated operation condition of system is satisfied using many connection and sectionalize switches in the distribution power system. Therefore, in this paper, optimization method for reducing system total loss and satisfying operating condition of radial and constraints condition of voltage is proposed using the fastest branch exchange. And optimal solution at branch exchange algorithm can be wrong estimated to local optimal solution according to initial operating state. Considering this particular, an initial operating point algorithm is added and this paper showed that optimal solution arrives at global optimal solution.

A second-order iterative learning control algorithm with feedback is proposed in this paper, in which a feedback term is added in the learning control scheme for the enhancement of convergence speed and robustness to disturbances or system parameter variations. The convergence proof of the proposed algorithm is givenl, and the sufficient condition for the convergence of the algorithm is provided. And it also includes the discussions about the convergence performance of the algorithm when the initial condition at the beginning of each iteration differs from the previous value of the initial. Simulation results show the validity and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
For the evaluation of safety margin of a nuclear power plant using a conservative methodology, the influence of applied assumptions such as initial conditions and boundary conditions needs to be assessed deliberately. Usually, a combination of the most conservative initial conditions is determined, and the safety margin for the transient is evaluated through the analysis for this conservative conditions. In existing conservative methodologies, a most-conservative condition is searched through the analyses for the maximum, minimum, and nominal values of the major parameters. In the present study, we investigates a new approach which can be applied to choose a most-conservative initial condition effectively when a best-estimate computer code and a conservative evaluation methodology are utilized for the evaluation of safety margin of transients. By constituting the band of various initial conditions using the random sampling of input parameters, the sensitivity study for various parameters are performed systematically. A method of sampling the value of control or operation parameters for a certain range is adopted by use of MOSAIQUE program, which enables to minimize the efforts for achieving the steady-state for various different conditions. A representative control parameter is identified, which governs the reactor coolant flow rate, pressurizer pressure, pressurizer level, and steam generator level, respectively. It is shown that an appropriate distribution of input parameter is obtained by adjusting the range and distribution of the control parameter.
Density and velocity perturbations in scales most relevant for the first galaxy formation are strongly affected by large-scale density perturbations, velocity-divergence perturbations and the baryon-cold dark matter (CDM) streaming velocities. Even at redshifts as high as z~200, this mode-mode coupling imprints a significant impact on the small-scale perturbations, at the wavenumber k >${\sim}100Mpc^{-1}$, as was calculated in our recent work. This implies that cosmological initial conditions based on the usual linear theory is no longer valid in these scales. We present a new cosmological initial condition generator, BCCOMICS, which generates initial conditions for the cold dark matter (CDM) and baryons in scales most relevant for the first galaxy formation. BCCOMICS is based on the linear perturbation theory including the mode-mode coupling terms, and generates cosmological initial conditions for the SPH-basded code GADGET and the AMR-based code ENZO. We also present our preliminary result on the cosmic variance of the first galaxy formation, studied by using BCCOMICS.

In this paper, we investigated the characteristics of initiation and propagation behavior for fatigue crack observed by changing various shapes of initial crack and magnitudes of loading in modified compact tension shear(CTS) specimen subjected to shear loading. In the low-loading condition, the secondary fatigue crack was created in the notch root due to friction on the pre-crack face grew to a main crack. In the high-loading condition, fatigue crack under shear loading propagated branching from the pre-crack tip. Influenced by the shear loading condition, fatigue crack propagation retardation appeared in the initial propagation region due to the reduction of crack driving force and friction on crack face. In both cases, however, fatigue cracks grew in tensile mode type. The propagation path of fatigue crack under the Mode II loading was 70 degree angle from the initial crack regardless of its shape and load magnitude.
We consider the global existence of strong solutions of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded Lipschitz do-main under Dirichlet boundary condition. We present by a very simple argument that a strong solution exists globally when the product of $L^2$ norms of the initial velocity and the gradient of the initial velocity and $L^{p,2}$, $p{\geq}4$ norm of the forcing function are small enough. Our condition is scale invariant and implies many typical known global existence results for small initial data including the sharp dependence of the bound on the volumn of the domain and viscosity. We also present a similar result in the whole domain with slightly stronger condition for the forcing.
In the CFD area, the numerical analysis of high Mach number flow over a blunt-body poses many issues. Various numerical schemes have been developed to cover the issues, but the traditional schemes are still used widely due to the complexities of new schemes and intricacy of modifying the established codes. In the present study, the well-known Roe's FDS based on TVD-MUSCL scheme is used for the solution of very high Mach number three-dimensional flows posing carbuncle and non-physical phenomena in numerical analysis. A parametric study was carried out to account for the effects of the entropy fixing, grid configurations and initial condition. The carbuncle phenomena could be easily overcome by the entropy fixing, and the non-physical solution could be eliminated by the use of the modified initial condition regardless of entropy fixing and grid configurations.
