The purpose of this paper is to depict the effect of rotation and initial stress on a magneto-thermoelastic medium with diffusion. The problem discussed within memory-dependent derivative in the context of the three-phase-lag model (3PHL), Green-Naghdi theory of type III (G-N III) and Lord and Shulman theory (L-S). Analytical expressions of the considered variables are obtained by using Laplace-Fourier transforms technique. Numerical results for the field quantities given in the physical domain and illustrated graphically in the absence and presence of a magnetic field, initial stress as well as the rotation. The differences in variable thermal conductivity are also presented at different parameter of thermal conductivity. The numerical results of the field variables are presented graphically to discuss the effect of various parameters of interest. Some special cases are also deduced from the present investigation.
Shape optimization was performed to obtain the precise shape of cutouts including the internal shape of cutouts in laminated composite plates by three dimensional modeling using solid element. The volume control of the growth-strain method was implemented and the distributed parameter chosen as Tsai-Hill fracture index for shape optimization. The volume control of the growth-strain method makes Tsai-Hill failure index at each element uniform in laminated composites under the initial volume. Then shapes optimized by Tsai-Hill failure index were compared with those of the initial shapes for the various load conditions and cutouts. The following conclusions were obtained in this study. (1) It was found that growth-strain method was applied efficiently to shape optimization of three dimensional cutouts in a laminate composite, (2) The optimal shapes of the various load conditions and cutouts were obtained, (3) The maximum Tsal-Hill failure index was reduced up to 67% when shape optimization was peformed under the initial volume by volume control of growth-strain method.
This work presents some analytical and numerical results of a dynamic analysis of the dimensionless 2-D sheet flight equations. Two empirical models for aerodynamic forces and moments are used and compared. Results show that the initial condition of rest is always unstable, and for long times three distinct flight regimes are possible, depending on the initial angle of attack, the Tachikawa number, Ta (in fact, the parameter chosen was its inverse, ${\Omega}$), and a mass ratio ${\Phi}$. The final orbits in the velocity space and their maximum kinetic energy are compared with a theoretical asymptotic state of the motion equations, and some design considerations are proposed.
The primary aim of the paper is to solve an unstable axisymmetric initial value problem of wave propagation when given initial data that is deteriorated by noise such as measurement error. To overcome the instability of the problem, Tikhonov's regularization, known as a non-iterative numerical regularization method, is introduced to solve the problem. The L-curvecriterion is introduced to find the optimal regularization parameter for the solution. It is confirmed that fairly stable solutions are realized and that they are accurate when compared to the exact solution.
A method of prediction for the fatigue life of surface crack, that is, initial cracks grow and penetrate through the thickness, was presented in the previous study of the author. Effects of parameters such as the initial crack length, material factors, etc., for the life were discussed. In this paper, the probabilistic distribution of the life is calculated. Effects of the distribution of parameters for the distribution of life were also discussed.
A second-order iterative learning control algorithm with feedback is proposed in this paper, in which a feedback term is added in the learning control scheme for the enhancement of convergence speed and robustness to disturbances or system parameter variations. The convergence proof of the proposed algorithm is givenl, and the sufficient condition for the convergence of the algorithm is provided. And it also includes the discussions about the convergence performance of the algorithm when the initial condition at the beginning of each iteration differs from the previous value of the initial. Simulation results show the validity and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
In this paper we present a new approach to estimate link travel speed based on the hybrid neuro-fuzzy network. It combines the fuzzy ART algorithm for structure learning and the backpropagation algorithm for parameter adaptation. At first, the fuzzy ART algorithm partitions the input/output space using the training data set in order to construct initial neuro-fuzzy inference network. After the initial network topology is completed, a backpropagation learning scheme is applied to optimize parameters of fuzzy membership functions. An initial neuro-fuzzy network can be applicable to any other link where the probe car data are available. This can be realized by the network adaptation and add/modify module. In the network adaptation module, a CBR(Case-Based Reasoning) approach is used. Various experiments show that proposed methodology has better performance for estimating link travel speed comparing to the existing method.
One form of job shop scheduling problem in contemporary automated manufacturing such as flexible manufacturing systems (FMS's) is presented which we call the FMS dispatching priority problem. The FMS dispatching priority problem seeks the best dispatching priority of parts and operations, and is essentially a combinatorial optimization problem. Because of the complicated mechanism of the system, the performance of a given dispatching priority must be evaluated via simulation. Simulated annealing have been applied to the problem, and it is found that appropriate parameter setting will be desirable to get good, if not the optimal, solutions within a limited amount of time under the presence of heavy computational burden due to simulation. More specifically, experiments reveal that initial temperature is the single most important factor among other parameters and factors, and that the appropriate initial temperature depends on the allowable computer time in such a way that the less time one can afford to spend, the lower the appropriate initial temperature should be.
In this paper, we proposed a PID tuning algorithm by the fuzzy set theory to improve the performance of the PID controller. The new tuning algorithm for the PID controller has the initial value of parameter Kp, $\tau_{I}$, $\tau_{D}$. by the Ziegler-Nichols formula that uses the ultimate gain and ultimate period from a relay tuning experiment. We will get the error and the error rate of plant output corresponding to the initial value of parameter and fnd the new proportion gain(Kp) and the integral time ($\tau_{I}$) from fuzzy tuner by the error and error rate of plant oueut as a membership function of fuzzy theory. This fuzzy auto tuning algorithm for PID controller considerably reduced the overshoot and rise time as compared to any other PID controller tuning algorithms. And in real parametric uncertainty systems, it constitutes an appreciable improvement of performance. The significant property of this algorithm is shown by simulation
A one-dimensional heat transfer model coupled with parameter estimation is developed in this study to predict the effective thermal conductivities of soil formation and borehole resistances from in situ field test data. In this application a new method of using initial ignoring time(IIT) obtained from error estimation is tried and turned out to be successful in determining soil thermal conductivities. The validity of this model is accomplished through comparison of the predicted temperature profiles of the model with the data from laboratory scale experimental setting. Eleven test boreholes were constructed in Ochang, Chungcheong Buk Do, and thermal response test was carried out with each borehole. The results of the in situ tests were analyzed with our 1-D numerical model and compared with the results of line source method. The comparison shows that the thermal properties from line source method is a little lower (${\sim}95%$)than those from numerical method. The reason of such result seems to be the lower thermal conductivity of grout material, which is not counted in line source method.
