There have been several tipical methods being used tomeasure the fuzziness (entropy) of fuzzy sets. Pedrycz is the original motivation of this paper. Recently, Wang and Chiu [FSS103(1999) 443-455] and Pedrycz [FSS 64(1994) 21-30] showed the relationship(addition, subtraction, multiplication) between the entropies of the resultant fuzzy number and the original fuzzy numbers of same type. In this paper, using Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral, we generalize results of Wang and Chiu [FSS 103(1999) 443-455] concerning entropy arithmetic operations without the condition of same types of fuzzy numbers. And using this results and trade-off relationship between information energy and entropy, we study more properties of information energy of fuzzy numbers.

A Web-based information system from the Korea Agricultural Water Use Laboratory AWUL, has been developed to provide with regional water management information and guidance for the operations of irrigation reservoirs through the World Wide Web(WWW). Twenty-six reservoirs are selected as the reference reservoirs for regional water management , and the real-time operation guide may be issued the grwoing seasons. The information available from the system includes the wether forecasting , drought analyses, and reservoir operation data for those reference sites. For a specific reservoir, the manager may access the system to obtain the water requriement, irrigation secheduling , and reservoir operations that fit best to the irrigation district.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) encourages effective information share and utilization among project participants during entire life cycle of facility. This paper presents a method that keeps track of the historical quality records involved in construction operations and facilitates using BIM. The method is coded into BIM based Quality Record Traceability (BIM-QRT) System that makes use of historical records obtained from database administrating construction operations. This study is of value to practitioners because the method makes clear the project participants' responsibility relative to the quality of each and every element of the facility. The main objective of this research is to develop an accurate, fully automated method for construction Quality Record Tracking by using a BIM along with construction operations data obtained by information technology. Test cases verify the usability and validity of the methods implemented in the system.

This study suggests on optimal process when decision maker is confronted with expert's biased information under the situation that the bias is caused mainly by the difference of their interest. In order to make honest transmission of expert's probabilistic information, the concept of expert use and scoring rule to provide expert with an incentive is used in this paper. And expected regret concept is introduced to evaluate the value of expert's information. A simple example is also shown.

In this paper, we propose a new personalized information service method using multiple regression analysis for Internet shopping malls. We then apply the proposed method to Internet bookstore, and compare personalized Internet bookstore providing personalized book information with ordinary Internet bookstore providing random book information. Experiment results show that the personalization of Internet bookstore increases satisfaction and purchasing intent of customers.

Since the primary purpose of information Engineering focuses on transaction or operation processing, various information needs acquired in Information Strategy Planning phase are not properly utilized from the viewpoint of decision support systems development. In this research, we suggest a case-based reasoning application that supports initial Data Warehouse Modeling by expanding the activities in Information Strategy Planning.

There is some limitations for ship to gather weather and sea state information. To make up for this weakness, land organizations can gather the wider variety of information, evaluate the navigational safety on a ship, and supply this information to the ship. In this study, the involuntary speed loss are calculated using the real-time information on weather and considering the increase of resistance induced by wave, and the navigational safety in a seaway is evaluated. The used model for computer simulation is Lpp 93m frigate class ship. The feasibility study is made of using simulation results in actual operation.

This paper proposes a new system to maximize efficiency of Air Base Protection Operations through the development of location identification software. The Wibro-based location identification system for Air Base Protection Force offers Blue Ground Force digitalized character message which is not exposed to enemy. Also, it is possible to automatically provide the location of Blue Ground Force to Air Base Ground Operations Center. The test result proves that this system is very helpful when Air Base Protection Force executes Air Base Protection Operations.

In flash memory, many previous garbage collection methods only merge blocks statically and do not consider the contents of buffer. These schemes may cause more unnecessary block erase operations and page copy operations. However, since flash memory has the limitation of maximum rate and life cycle to delete each block, an efficient garbage collection method to evenly wear out the flash memory region is needed. This paper proposes a memory compaction scheme based on block-level buffer for flash memory. The proposed scheme not only merges the data blocks and the corresponding log block, but also searches for the block-level buffer to find the corresponding buffer blocks. Consequently, unnecessary potential page copying operations and block erasure operations could be reduced, thereby improving the performance of flash memory and prolonging the lifetime of flash memory.

This paper proposes a simplified DC calculation method for simplified depth coding (SDC) mode of 3D High Efficiency Video Coding (3D-HEVC) to reduce the computational complexity. For the computational complexity reduction, the current reference software of 3D-HEVC employs reference samples sub-sampling method. However, accumulation, branch, and division operations are still utilized and these operations increase computational complexity. The proposed method calculates DC value without those operations. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves 0.1% coding gain for synthesized views in common test condition (CTC) with the significantly reduced number of computing operations.
