  • This paper describes a normalization of character which is contained in the character recognition process. Line and dot density is computed on input character image and then image mapping is executed into destination. Also recognition is processed using overlap-partitioning of character image and extraction of 4 directional feature primitives. The validity of proposed nonlinear normalization algorithm could be verified by increment of recognition rate.

  • The paper demonstrates OFDM with LDPC and adaptive modulation applied to Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. An optimization algorithm to obtain a bit and power allocation for each subcarrier assuming instantaneous channel knowledge is used. The experimental results are shown the potential of our proposed system.

  • This paper presents a method of design the counter using sequential system based on synchronous techniques. For the design the counter, first of all, we derive switching algebras and their operations. Also, we obtain the next-state functions, flip-flop excitations and their input functions from the flip-flop. Then, we propose the algorithm which is a method of implementation of the synchronous sequential digital logic circuits. Finally, we apply proposed the sequential logic based on synchronous techniques to counter.

  • This paper presents a model predictive controller for tracking control of the wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) subject to nonholonomic constraint. The input-output feedback-linearization method and the mode transformation are used. The performance of the proposed control algorithm is verified via computer simulation. It is shown that the control strategy is feasible.

  • In this paper, we has been studied self controlled mobile robot system with CCD camera. This system consists of TMS320F240 digital signal processor, step motor, RF module and CCD camera. we used wireless RF module for movable command transmitging between robot and host PC. This robot go straight until 95 percent filled screen from input image. And the robot recognizes obstacle about 95 percent filled something, so it could avoid the obstacle and conclude new path plan.

  • RED 알고리즘은 큐 avg가 threshold를 넘으면 일정한 확률로 패킷을 drop하여 congestion을 제어하는 알고리즘이다. RED 알고리즘은 큐 자신의 avg만을 고려하여 drop 확률을 결정한다. 하지만, VOQ를 사용하는 input queueing에서 같은 출력 단을 목적지로 하는 다른 큐들의 사이즈가 큐 내부에서의 delay에 영향을 미치기 때문에 그 큐들의 avg를 고려하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 RED 방법의 drop 확률 결정에서 같은 출력 단을 목적지로 하는 큐들의 avg 값을 고려하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘을 구현하고, 성능을 기존의 RED 알고리즘과 비교한다.

  • The FCM based hybrid RBF network is a heterogeneous learning network model that applies FCM algorithm between input and middle layer and applies Max_Min algorithm between middle layer and output. The Max-Min neural network uses winner nodes of the middle layer as input but shows inefficient learning in performance when the input vector consists of too many patterns. To overcome this problem, we propose a dynamic learning rate control based on fuzzy logic. The proposed method first classifies accurate/inaccurate class with respect to the difference between target value and output value with threshold and then fuzzy membership function and fuzzy decision logic is designed to control the learning rate dynamically. We apply this proposed RBF network to the character recognition problem and the efficacy of the proposed method is verified in the experiment.

Heart Sound-Based Cardiac Disorder Classifiers Using an SVM to Combine HMM and Murmur Scores (SVM을 이용하여 HMM과 심잡음 점수를 결합한 심음 기반 심장질환 분류기)

  • In this paper, we propose a new cardiac disorder classification method using an support vector machine (SVM) to combine hidden Markov model (HMM) and murmur existence information. Using cepstral features and the HMM Viterbi algorithm, we segment input heart sound signals into HMM states for each cardiac disorder model and compute log-likelihood (score) for every state in the model. To exploit the temporal position characteristics of murmur signals, we divide the input signals into two subbands and compute murmur probability of every subband of each frame, and obtain the murmur score for each state by using the state segmentation information obtained from the Viterbi algorithm. With an input vector containing the HMM state scores and the murmur scores for all cardiac disorder models, SVM finally decides the cardiac disorder category. In cardiac disorder classification experimental results, the proposed method shows the relatively improvement rate of 20.4 % compared to the HMM-based classifier with the conventional cepstral features.

Laser pointer detection using neural network for human computer interaction (인간-컴퓨터 상호작용을 위한 신경망 알고리즘기반 레이저포인터 검출)

  • In this paper, an effective method to detect the laser pointer on the screen using the neural network algorithm for implementing the human-computer interaction system. The proposed neural network algorithm is used to train the patches without a laser pointer from the input camera images, the trained neural network then generates output values for an input patch from a camera image. If a small variation is perceived in the input camera image, amplify the small variations and detect the laser pointer spot in the camera image. The proposed system consists of a laser pointer, low-price web-camera and image processing program and has a detection capability of laser spot even if the background of computer monitor has a similar color with the laser pointer spot. Therefore, the proposed technique will be contributed to improve the performance of human-computer interaction system.
