Background: The aim of this study was to investigate Iranian cancer patient perceptions of their prognosis, factors that influence perceptions of prognosis and the effect this has on patient level of hope. Materials and Methods: Iranian cancer patients (n=200) completed self-report measures of their perceptions of their prognosis and level of hope, in order to assess the relationship between the two and identify factors predictive of perceptions by multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Cancer patients perceived of their prognosis positively (mean 11.4 out of 15), believed their disease to be curable, and reported high levels of hope (mean 40.4 out of 48.0). Multiple linear regression analyses demonstrated that participants who were younger, perceived they had greater family support, and had higher levels of hope reported more positive perceptions of their cancer prognosis. Conclusions: Positive perceptions of prognosis and its positive correlation with hope in Iranian cancer patients highlights the importance of cultural issues in the disclosure of cancer related information.

The scope and functions of a conversational agent are gradually expanding. In particular, research and technology development is being conducted on a conversational agent that can speak first without user calls. However, still in its early stages, there is a lack of research on how a preceded utterance conversational agent will affect users. Accordingly, this study conducted a 2×3 mixed design using the user's task performance condition and the agent's self-exposure as independent variables and measured Intimacy, Functional Satisfaction, Psychological Reactance, and Workload as dependent variables to identify the effects of preceded utterance conversational agent on user experience.

Objectives: Since the material safety data sheets(MSDS) submission and non-disclosure review system was introduced in January 2021, the implementation status of MSDS for chemical manufacturing and importing workplaces being supervised for the first time. Methods: A supervisory team consisting of two labor inspectors and one from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency directly visited the selected workplaces to check compliance with the MSDS system as a whole. Results: As a result of supervising 214 chemical substance manufacturing/importing workplaces, a total of 241 violations of the law were found in 121 workplaces, or 57% of them. In response, the Ministry of Employment and Labor took legal action on 8 cases in 6 locations, imposed a fines totaling of 249.69 million won on 120 chemical handling workplaces, and took action to correct the violations immediately. Conclusions: Major violations were in the order of non-request for warning signs, non-submission of MSDS, non-execution of MSDS training, and non-posting of MSDS. This shows the reality that employers who handle chemical substances are sufficiently communicating chemical information to workers. In the future, the government will actively implement preparation and submission support and system guidance for the implementation of the MSDS system, while making efforts to ensure that the MSDS system works well in the field through thorough on-site supervision in the future.

The study aims to investigate the relationship between hedging with derivatives and subsequent firm-level stock price crash risk. Our sample consists of KOSPI- and KOSDAQ-listed companies from 2004 to 2014. The total firm-year observation is 4,886. We find that hedging with derivatives is related to greater possibilities of crash risk. The results suggest that the complexity of economic and financial reporting for derivatives may aggravate the company's information opacity, ultimately increasing the crash risk. We contribute to the growing body of literature on hedging with derivatives. Academics and practitioners have debated on whether or not hedging enhances transparency or rather makes the information environment more opaque. Theoretical research on the role of corporate hedging on information environment shows that hedging enhances earnings informativeness. Meanwhile, pieces of anecdotal and empirical evidence show that the economic and financial reporting complexity of derivatives can harm information transparency. Our results shed light on the question of whether and how hedging with derivatives affects information environment by examining the relationship between hedging with derivatives and crash risk. Furthermore, our findings provide useful insights for policymakers and practitioners. Specifically, our results raise a need for a more transparent disclosure on corporate hedging activities with derivatives.
Purpose: This study is to investigate the effect of managerial ownership level in distribution and service companies on the stock price crash. The managerial ownership level affects the firm's information disclosure policy. If managers conceal or withholds business-related unfavorable factors over a long period, the firm's stock price is likely to plummet. In a similar vein, management's equity affects information opacity, and information asymmetry affects stock price collapse. Research design, data, and methodology: A regression analysis is conducted using the data on companies listed on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) between 2012-2017 to examine the effect of the managerial ownership level on stock price crash risks. Results: Logistic and regression results indicate that the stock price crash risk was reduced as managerial ownership levels are increased. The managerial ownership level has a significant negative coefficient on stock price crash risk, negative conditional return skewness of firm-specific weekly return distribution, and asymmetric volatility between positive and negative price-to-earnings ratios. Conclusions: As the ownership and management align, the likeliness of withholding business-related information is reduced. This study's results imply that the stock price crash risk reduces as the managerial ownership level increases because shareholder and manager interests coincide, thereby reducing information asymmetry.
Purpose - This study attempts to provide a new theoretical perspective on the quality signaling and its impact on a market under information asymmetry, focusing on how the accuracy and the cost of quality signaling affect sellers' and buyers' profit, suggesting appropriate designs of quality signaling methods which mitigates information asymmetry. Design/methodology/approach - In order to examine the effect of quality signaling on strategic interactions within the market, we establish an analytic model where market outcomes are determined by seller's quality claim and price, and buyers are risk-neutral. By investigating this analytic model through relevant game trees, we find the subgame perfect Nash equilibria of the market and predict related market outcomes based on sellers' quality signaling strategy. Findings - Our analytic model shows counterintuitive results that seller profit will be the lowest with inaccurate quality signaling and the highest with no quality signaling, mostly due to the certification cost. Consequently, sellers should proceed with caution if the quality signaling is less than accurate, as it may backfire. We believe that this is due to the fact that the inaccuracy of quality signaling causes some confusion and uncertainty in both sellers and buyers' decision to maximize profit, making it hard for sellers to predict buyers' behavior. Research implications or Originality - Although the sources and types of quality signaling errors have been investigated in the literature, there has not been satisfactory understanding regarding how inaccuracy of quality certification affects specific market outcomes. We expect that our theoretical model would provide important implications on how to utilize quality signaling to solve adverse selection issues in markets under information asymmetry.
A number of context information is shared through social network service(SNS). Among them, we focused on the information which is rarely shared for various reasons. The result indicated that users prefer to avoid certain types of context information because of: 1)containing socially unacceptable content, 2)laking of desire for disclosure, and 3)potential risk of privacy. Concerning privacy concern, it was found that users developed their own management strategy to control context information rather than employing existing system features. Drawing on Communication Privacy Management(CPM) theory, we analyzed findings and suggested guidelines for system design.

The objectives of this study is to find problems in the legal and institutional background on our information system for soil contaminated sites. To achieve this abjective, we compared our system with those of federal and New Jersey state governments of the United States. We found that we have no comprehensive guideline on how various information from the contaminated sites should be manipulated. In our system, some regulations on information management were found only in a few prescriptions on detection, detailed investigation, and remediation phases. However, we found that provisions, detailed procedures, and related guidelines for the information management are provided in tile case of the federal and New Jersey state governments. Also, public involvement and disclosure of tile information for the remediation procedure are designated in their legal systems.

Internet of Things (IoT) services are widely used in appliances of daily life and industries. IoT services also provide various conveniences to users and are expected to affect value added of all industries and national competitiveness. However, a variety of security threats are increased in IoT environments and lowers reliability of IoT devices and services that make some obstacles for commercialization. The attacks arising in IoT environments are making industrial and normal life accidents unlike existing information leak and monetary damages, and can expand damage scale of leakage of personal information and privacy more than existing them. To solve these problems, we design a session key based access control scheme for secure communications in IoT environments. The proposed scheme reinforces message security by generating session key between device and access control network system. We analyzed the stability of the proposed access scheme in terms of data forgery and corruption, unauthorized access, information disclosure, privacy violations, and denial of service attacks. And we also evaluated the proposed scheme in terms of permission settings, privacy indemnity, data confidentiality and integrity, authentication, and access control.
The usage rate of user due to advances in smartphone development is higher than the usage rate to use a PC. However, smartphone usage popularized research to protect sensitive information, such as smart phone users personal information, financial information is a small state. In this paper, we analyzed the various vulnerabilities in smartphone studies to date have been looking into the corresponding port smart consumer dispute resolution methods and criteria for smartphone security attack methods and analysis. In particular, the threat of such a network, malware, Peep attack of the security threats arising from the smartphone they can avoid or mitigate threats to minimize the smartphone security damage is done to the disclosure of personal information, such as direct damage or financial loss the analysis of that method.
