Development and Application of PBL-Based Teaching Materials for Information Communication Ethics Education (PBL기반 정보통신윤리교육 수업자료 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of problem-based learning(PBL) of information communication ethics on the problem-solving skills of fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school students about information communication ethics and their attitude. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the PBL-based teaching materials for information communication ethics could serve to stir up the interest of students by letting them face problem situations caused by the disfunction of the information society. Second, a wide variety of teaching-learning activities including cooperative learning and discussion were implemented while the selected students performed the given problem-solving tasks, and the activities had a very good effect on PBL-based information communication ethics education. Third, PBL-based information communication ethics education could be one of effective ways to boost not only the problem-solving skills of students but the teaching interest and capability of teachers.

  • The number of people using the information communication have being rapidly increased owing to promote a national information policy. The rate of teenager using the information communication are over 90 percent. We can communicate quickly and easily owing to the rapid increment of the information communication. But there are adverse effects because of the rapid increment of the information communication. Specially, teenagers have been quickly influenced by the adverse effects. We must consider a counterplan for the adverse effects. Therefore, in this paper, I will survey the present status of ethics education for information communication which have been taught in school and the actual condition using information communication of teenagers. And I will analyze the connection of them. In addition, I will propose the desirable direction of ethics education for information communication.

A Study on Correlation between Age and Information Ethics Using Information Culture Index

  • Information ethics is very essential for everyone in the current knowledge-based society. Every citizen in modern society can enjoy various benefits of recent internet technologies. In the meanwhile, everyone also is exposed to the various side effects of information and communication technologies. The typical side effects include copyright violation, cyber crimes, cyber bullying, internet addiction, and so on. The purpose of this paper is to identify correlation between age and information ethics. For this purpose, 3-year national survey works Information Culture Index are analyzed. After thorough statistical analysis work, it is concluded that there is a meaningful correlation between age and information ethics. In other words, the older people are, the higher information ethics they recognize and observe.

  • This study has been pointed out that Information Communication Ethics Education has been mentioned only about a cognitive factor. Then the purpose of this study is verify the effects through the Instructional design of Information Communication Ethics that was compensate the problem. To achieve this, it was included all the cognitive, emotional and active factor of Integrated Character by Thomas Lickona. It has been modified that Information Communication Ethics Test of Lee Chae Young(2009) to be included all the factors of Integrated Character to verify the designed instruction. It has been designed that each steps included the component of Integrated Character using Gerlach & Ely systematic instruction model then, the designed instruction has been applied to the secondary school and verified the effectiveness. As a result, it has been proved that Experimental group is more effective than Control group.

  • Rapidly increasing Internet use has brought beneficial developments in many aspects, and it also stimulates elementary students' curiosity and is becoming an important part of entertainment. On the other hand, it is giving rise to some negative results such as violence and delinquent conduct in cyberspace. This study is to find the effects and problems of Information and Communication Ethics education before and after it is carried out by analysing the curriculum of Information texbooks, and to search for new teaching methods for Information and Communication Ethics education.

  • Students are getting more opportunities to use the internet at school and home with the development of information & communication technology and the spread of computers. It can be used for education; otherwise, it also has some negative side effects, such as, the circulation of unsound information, game addiction, the misuse and overuse of information. Information communication ethics education is needed to protect students from those negative side effects in cyber space. This paper presents the systematic education contents and ways to teach correct information communication ethics education form the results of questionaires to students, teachers and parents, and other related study.

  • The purpose of this thesis was to implement effective blended PBL(Problem-Based Learning) systems for information communication ethics education. The proposed systems, Online learning and face-to-face classes were systematically combined and Moodle is used for online learning platform. We proposed the use of wikis and blogs not just for creation of knowledge, but as active learning tool to support PBL. In the proposed system, learners used the web 2.0 as a open place to create new knowledge and experience various effects of PBL, such as (1) Improvement of problem solving ability, (2) Understanding of cooperative learning. The blended PBL systems with teaching and learning model were evaluated learners' level of satisfaction and educational achievement in the study of information communication ethics. The result shows that blended PBL learning method is more effective in cultivating consciousness of information communication ethics and showed more higher level of learners' satisfaction and educational achievement than the face-to-face PBL learning method.

  • The Information and Communication Technology(ICT) is applied variously by advanced development, however that also causes the ethical problem simultaneously nowadays. It is emphasized the necessity of information and communication ethics and the scheme also is suggested that the student actually may produce and use their own UCC as an educational material which relates to ethics of information and communication in this paper. By doing that activity, student could learn themselves from what they've produced. Therefore they can approach the subject with more interests, beside the method how teacher has been teaching normally which can be described as cramming. The suggestion is phased by the steps as below; First of all, adequate guidance is selected and the aim of education is established to the method of education through producing UCC by analyzing the contents system of information and communication ethics. Second, it is analyzed educational effect along media of UCC. Third, it is analyzed educational effect along the producing format of UCC. Finally, the scheme is developed that student could be learned from UCC they have created. Therefore, students could be participated by themselves more actively to the education and manage the negative effects of ICT. They also could acknowledge and determine the right ethical awareness of information and communication, and develop more advanced ethical awareness by doing this activity.

Factors in Information and Communication Ethics Behavior of College Students Majoring in Information and Communication Engineering (정보통신공학 전공 대학생의 정보통신윤리 행동과 관련 변수)

  • This paper was designed to identify influencing factors and to develop indices for measuring information and communication technology related ethics behaviors of college students majoring in information and communication engineering. Data collected from 288 students surveyed in Busan and Kyungnam area were used and the average of information and communication engineering ethics were below the mid-points meaning 'fairly ethical'. 'Passively violating behavior' showed the highest value (2.77 out of 5) while 'rudeness and insulting behavior' showed the lowest (1.65 out of 5). Second, variables of gender, age, religion, idealism, and relativism were revealed to be meaningful ones. Results can help educators understand the influencing factors in information and communication technology related ethics behaviors of college students as well as develop topics in educating engineering ethics.

  • In today's era, where internet technology and culture are advancing rapidly, the importance of systematic internet ethics education has been underscored to address the insufficient levels of internet ethics among college students. This research primarily focused on assessing the level of internet ethics among college students, who represent a significant proportion of internet users. The innovative Flip Learning teaching method and the introduction of the Wheeler Model, along with the application of frequency measurement theory, allowed us to explore ways to maximize the effectiveness of the education. It was confirmed that students who received internet ethics education demonstrated improved levels of ethics. This study concluded that significant progress has been made in systematizing and effectively promoting internet ethics education. It also proposed the need for systematic ethics education and provided future directions for improving internet ethics education.
