PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between psychosocial factors and the severity of musculoskeletal pain in veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). METHODS: A total of 60 subjects were recruited from among the veterans with musculoskeletal pain at D Veterans Hospital. PTSD was evaluated by using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition; severity of pain was measured by using the short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ); depression and anxiety were measured by using the Symptom Checklist-90-Revision; and the quality of sleep was measured by using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. All data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 software for Windows. RESULTS: The averages cores of pain intensity ($7.48{\pm}1.67$), SF-MPQ-sensory ($13.84{\pm}7.52$), SF-MPQ-affective ($4.41{\pm}3.79$), depression ($19.30{\pm}11.37$), anxiety ($13.39{\pm}7.99$), and quality of sleep ($10.05{\pm}5.89$) were obtained in veterans with PTSD. SF-MPQ-sensory measures sleep quality (r=0.346, p<0.01), SF-MPQ-affective measures depression (r=0.318, p<0.01) and anxiety (r=0.404, p<0.01), and these showed a statistically significant positive correlation in veterans with PTSD. Pain levels were observed to be higher in veterans with PTSD. Moreover, in these subjects, physical pain had a significant influence on the anxiety variable among the psychosocial factors. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that musculoskeletal pain provides meaningful information about depression, anxiety, and sleep disorder in veterans with PTSD. Our data suggest that musculoskeletal pain may need to be addressed as part of the health management process of veterans.
Objective : Panic disorders are frequently accompanied by major depressive disorder (MDD). There is insufficient information about which clinical factors in panic disorder are associated with comorbid MDD. The aim of this study is to identify clinical factors related with comorbid MDD in patients with panic disorder. Methods : Two experienced psychiatrists diagnosed panic disorder based on DSM-IV criteria. This diagnosis in the 275 subjects was confirmed again by Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI). Lifetime comorbid psychiatric diagnoses were examined by MINI. The Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS) were used to assess the severity of depressive, anxiety and panic symptoms. Results : The result of MINI showed that 95 patients (34%) with panic disorder satisfied the diagnosis of MDD. Multivariate logistic regression model showed that comorbid generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and the symptom of "fear of losing control or going crazy" were associated with MDD in patients with panic disorder. In female patients, the "chills or hot flushes" symptom was also associated with comorbid MDD. Conclusion : These results showed that coexisting GAD and certain symptoms of panic are associated with comorbid MDD.
The purpose of this study is to describe anxiety, depression and disease activity index(SLEDAI) and correlations among these variables, to provide the basic information developing apporiate nursing interventions for the lupus patients. In this study, authors evaluated anxiety, depression and SLEDAI from 39 lupus patients at one university hospital in Seoul. Data were collected by using questionnaires and reviewing medical records. Frequencies, t-test, Duncan's multiple range test after ANOVA were evaluated with SAS program. The key results were as follows : 1. The average age of the subjects was 31.0 years and ranged from 20 to 51. Female comprised 70.9% and 79.5% were unemployed and housewife. Fifty one point nine percent of the sample had a spouse and above junior college graduates. 74.4% of the sample had a religion and average length of suffering from lupus was 66.59 months. Majority(94.9%) of the subjects had experience of hospitalization, and 55.3% had experience of learning about lupus and average number of learning was 3.9. 2. The average anxiety score of the subjects was 44.53, showing significant relationship with educational background(t=2.27, p< .05), monthly income(F=4.56. p< .05). 3. The depression score was 41.85, showing significant relationship with monthly income(F=3.81 p=0.0236) experience of learning about lupus(t=2.09, p< .05). 4. The SLEDAI score was 12.36, showing no significant relationship with demographical variables. 5. Anxiety showed positive correlations with depression(r=0.76, p< .001), SLEDAI(r=0.48, p< .01), and depression showed positive correlations with SLEDAI(r=0.42, p< .001).
This study empirically confirmed whether individual characteristics and social capital have distinctive influence on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship, and whether entrepreneurship consulting has a moderating effect in the context of high interest in entrepreneurship with 223 data. All of the personal characteristics, network, trust, and consulting experience had a significant influence on the entrepreneurial intention, while the external control and reciprocity norms had a significant influence on the entrepreneurial anxiety. The experience of consulting revealed that it has a moderating effect of weakening influence of risk-taking tendency and network on the entrepreneurial will and strengthening the influence of external control on the entrepreneurial anxiety. This research has significance in terms of distinguishing effects of entrepreneurial intention and anxiety and the moderating effect of consulting. In future research, it is expected that verification of entrepreneurial anxiety should be done.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of middle-aged women's social support and self-efficacy on their aging anxiety, with the ultimate goal of providing basic information for devising educational and interventive programs to help reduce aging anxiety. Participants of this study were 210 middle-aged women living in B Metropolitan City. Data were collected from May 10 to 28, 2018, and statistically processed using t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Participants showed significant differences in aging anxiety depending on age, education, monthly income, marital life satisfaction, leisure time activities, and number of friends. In addition, aging anxiety had significant negative correlations with social support and self-efficacy, and the main factors affecting middle-aged women's aging anxiety were found to be self-efficacy, marital satisfaction and social support. Of these, self-efficacy had the greatest effect, explaining 42.7% of the participants' aging anxiety. To help middle-aged women reduce their aging anxiety, it is necessary to provide them with programs that improve social activity participation, raise self-efficacy and promote relationships with family and communities. It is also recommended that these women be provided with educational and interventive programs that help them adjust to aging and develop a positive awareness of it.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a preparation method using hospital play on anxiety and role behaviors of children undergoing tonsillectomy. Method: Twenty-eight children aged 5 to 7 years who were admitted for tonsillectomy were assigned to either an experimental group or a control group purposefully. The preparation method included provision of information using hospital play. The data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney test and Chi-square test. Result: There was no Significant difference in anxiety before surgery between the experimental and control groups. Also, there was no Significant difference in role behaviors on the 1st and the 2nd day of surgery. Conclusion: Even though there was no statistical significance, the result showed that the preparation method had some positive effect on children and parents. It is needed to develop systematic preparation methods for children undergoing surgery to enhance their coping.

Objectives: Seven Emotions consist of Joy(喜), Anger(怒), Anxiety(憂), Thought(思), Sorrow(悲), Fear(恐), Fright(驚). If Seven Emotions are excessive, their extreme mental stimulations cause physical illness. The aim of the research is to make a proposal on the concept of Seven Emotions by a statistical comparison between guibi-tang questionnaire and health related questionnaires. Methods: We studied the similarities among three factors of guibi-tang questionnaire and three health related questionnaires(subjective symptoms of fatigue test, beck depression inventory, state-trait anxiety inventory, etc.) using multidimensional scaling. Results and Conclusions: 1. Physical-Emotion Dimension and Chronic-Acute Dimension were labelled in two-dimensional solution. 2. Seven Emotions and Fatigue have a high correlation. 3. Seven Emotions and Trait-Anxiety have a high correlation.
Objective : Although studies have explored responses to fear had been assessed using various psychophysiological methods, results have been inconsistent. The present study examined psychophysiological responses in healthy subjects after viewing fear stimuli in a video clip for set up future fear related psychophysiological studies. Methods : We monitored three psychophysiological variables (electroencephalography, skin temperature, and heart rate variability) in adults who watched either a control stimulus movie clip or a fear-inducing movie clip. Results : In 16 healthy adults, theta activity decreased significantly after the fear stimulus as compared to the normal stimulus. However the participants showed no differences in heart rate variability or skin temperature between the fear and normal control stimulus situations. Conclusion : In the limbic area, theta activity corresponds with information processing, integration into previous memories and long-term potentiation. In this study, we suggest decreased theta activity represents amygdalo-hippocampal activity, associated with fear, short-term memory, and memory extinction in the healthy adults. Further studies are needed to evaluate the interaction of fear, memory, and the pathophysiology of anxiety disorder in patient with anxiety disorders.
The purpose of this study is to identify anxiety and depression level for corona virus 19 among hospital nurses to the spread of COVID-19.
