  • Continual attempt to accumulate and apply information eventually gives birth to the concept of the 'Semantic Web'. Thus, the 'Semantic Web' can be defined as a product of mankind's desire to standardize information. A term of knowledge is used as information or data in computer science. These are regarded and are divided sometimes each other in terminologies that have similar meaning. If it is divided, knowledge is different from information. However, some kind of information in Knowledge Representation is called knowledge often if it can be expressed in computing system. Therefore, knowledge representation can talk as information representation. The purpose of the study is systematizing knowledge through knowledge representation that uses Delphi technique and ontology is designed by utilizing assistance editor called protege-2000 to construct semantic web environment's ontology. Level of interest regarding the construction and evaluation of search systems based on ontology is set to increase. If defined well, semantic can reflect human's thinking to knowledge information on web. Furthermore systematizes knowledge, search of information and comprehension about Jeju tour using present computer may be done intelligence.

  • The objective of this research is to identify the process of knowledge transfer and to examine the effect of IT human capability on knowledge transfer in information systems outsourcing. Through a field survey, it is found that clients' IT human capability significantly affects on cooperative learning with vendors and knowledge transfer from vendors to clients. The survey also shows that clients' trust with vendors indirectly enhances the knowledge transfer by increasing the cooperative learning. This study provides a solution of knowledge transfer problem in information systems outsourcing. Also it brings out issues that can be accrued in the outsourcing situation, such as clients' dependency on vendors and knowledge asymmetries developed in favor of the vendors. These issues should be topics for future research on information systems outsourcing.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the consumer's product knowledge and his/her ability to obtain information when buying clothing. For the purpose of this study, questionnaires were given to 550 university students living in Seoul and the Kwgi area. The questionnaires were designed to measure the consumer's knowledge about examine his/her method of gathering information and to obtain some personal information Vsing a base of 407 students, data was analyzed through cross- tabulation, the chi square test, the t-test, the one-way ANOVA accompanied by a post-hoc analysis with the Tukey method, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the Spearman rho. The results of this study were as follows. 1) There was a significant difference in the amount of iuormation seeking between groups with different knowledge related to clothing. 2) The use of information sources was found to be significantly related to the consumer's subjective and objective knowledge. 3) The consumer's level of knowledge about clothing was related to the store characteristics that he/she took into consideration. The difference between the groups came from the number of store characteristics taken into consideration, rather than from the contents. The group that had more knowledge related to clothing was more aware of store characteristics than the other level stoup. Price, quality, uniqueness, and variety of clothing were equally important to by groups. 4) A moderate relationship was found between the consumer's subjective and objective knowledge, and between his/her purchasing experience and objective knowledge. There was a relatively high relationship between purchasing experience and subjective knowledge.

  • Based on a comprehensive framework that reflects lifecycle requirements of KMs and BPMs, we propose an PKMS(Process based KMS) for integrating KMs and BPMs in order to combine the advantages of the two paradigms. This paper first defines the priority order of knowledge according to knowledge type and classifies it into three groups which consist of Basic KM, Practical KM and Reference KM. Then, it suggests PKMS knowledge map composed of much core-knowledge each of which has information about a unit of the related business process. Using the PKMS Knowledge map, we can directly provide related core-knowledge related for the business process while a person is working a unit of business process. This paper designed the PKMS applied to employment insurance business part. Long term goal of the concepts is to concern a change management organization of knowledge on PKMS.

  • The knowledge management is increasingly an important strategic weapon for sustaining competitive advantage of firms. Firms are undertaking knowledge management initiatives and making significant investments. However, there is relatively little empirical support for the impact of knowledge management on performance of firms. Understanding of the impact of knowledge management, this paper explores how knowledge management strategy influences firms' market value. We examine this issue using event study methodology and evaluate the cumulative abnormal returns for knowledge management strategy announced by firms from 1998 to 2002. The results show that firms' announcements of knowledge management strategy are positively related with firms' market value. Specially, dynamic style-which emphasizes both (i) knowledge reusability through information technologies and (ii) knowledge sharing through informal discussions among employees-has higher performance. This outcome presents empirical support to argument that the emphasis on both tacit and explicit knowledge results in better market value.

  • Despite the importance of knowledge complementarities (KC) to firm performance, very little is known about exactly what constitutes KC and how synergistic knowledge is created in KC. This research looks into the dimensionality of KC and how synergistic knowledge as an essential component of KC is generated in a process innovation (PI) project. We propose that KC consists of potential complementary knowledge, collaborative elaboration (CE) process, and synergistic knowledge. The model is investigated quantitatively, using a sample of 26 matched-pairs of client and consultant who participated in a PI project, and then qualitatively using interviews of a sub-sample of 7 matched-pairs of client and consultant. Data were collected in a longitudinal way at four different points during the four month project period. Results show that consultant's learning about the client's business occurs first and then client learning about IT capabilities follows through CE. With this enhanced clients' knowledge about IT capabilities, clients play an initiative role in designing the To-Be business processes, while consultants play a supporting role by introducing best practices or making suggestions based on their experiences. Future research implications as well as practical implications are also discussed.

  • This paper aims to describe how knowledge management could be put into practice in a voluntary way. From a practice-based standpoint, this study focused closely on the linkage between knowledge and practice. It is because knowledge management could fail if not put into practice. Using its own information system, iCOOP, a federation of consumers' co-operatives in Korea has been practised successful knowledge management voluntarily with its members. Based on the exploratory case study on iCOOP, this study conducted focused interviews with 5 member co-operatives of iCOOP. Main findings are as follows. First, an NoP emerges within a corporate information system when corporate work processes are concentrated in the information system. Second, corporate information system facilitates CoPs and the NoP when its information and information about its users are opened to all of the information system users. In conclusion, this study points out that it is not the matter of primary importance to build a knowledge management system. Rather, practice has the key to the successful knowledge management.
