  • 초등학교 교사들은 정보 활용 능력을 기르는데 노력하였다. 그러나 교육현장은 이보다 더 많은 능력을 요구하고 있으며 초등학교 교사들마다 정보 활용 능력이 다르고, 교사들의 스트레스 정도가 다르다. 따라서 본 연구는 초등학교 교사들의 정보 활용 능력의 정도와 스트레스 양과의 관계를 알아보고, 교사들의 직무스트레스를 극복하는 방법을 알아보았다.

  • 학교들의 특색있는 교육활동이나, 교수 학습자료들이 다른 학교 홈페이지와의 연계기능이 없어 많은 자료들이 묻혀버리고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 각 학교의 다양한 교육활동들을 효과적으로 홍보하고, 화상통신을 통해 소속되어 있는 학생들 간의 교육적 정보교류와 의사소통기능을 강화시켜 지역교육청의 교육정책수행 및 교육발전에 이바지할 수 있는 적응력있는 화상커뮤니티를 설계하였다. 제안된 시스템을 통해 각 학교간에 이루어지고있는 교육활동을 실시간으로 알 수 있어 교육발전을 도모할 수 있으리라 기대한다.

대전.충청지역 어린이의 비타민.무기질 보충제 섭취 실태 (A Survey on Use of Vitamin.Mineral Supplements by Children in Daejeon City and Chungcheong Province in Korea)

  • We surveyed 821 children (ages 12-15 y) in Daejeon city and Cunngcheong province, Korea for their use of vitamin mineral supplements (VMS), either over-the-counter drugs and/or health functional foods (HFF). We also considered the significant variables of VMS use, including demographic characteristics, health-related variables, eating habits and nutritional beliefs of VMS by subjects. The frequency of VMS use was 24.8% and, in comparison to counterparts, it was higher in subjects attending middle school (p<0.001), in those living in a large city (p<0.001), in those with a high monthly family income (p<0.05), and in those with high concerns about school performance by parents (p<0.01). Selfhealth concerns by subjects (p<0.05) and concerns about health of offspring by parents (p<0.01) were higher in users than in nonusers. Eating habits of subjects did not affect the use of VMS. Users had a more positive view concerning the potential health benefits of VMS than did nonusers (p<0.05). Most users took VMS when they were healthy (78.9%) and expected 'disease prevention and health maintenance' (44.6%). However, most users did not feel any special effects from VMS use (58.8%), and they got their information on VMS through family and relatives (53.9%). Users of VMS preferred vitamin C supplements (44.2%) and Ca-supplements (56.9%). Therefore, the results show that VMS use is widely spread among the subjects, and that use of VMS is influenced by multiple variables and subjective criteria. Therefore, practical guidelines on VMS use for children's health and growth should be given through nutritional education.

A cautionary note on the use of Cook's distance

  • An influence measure known as Cook's distance has been used for judging the influence of each observation on the least squares estimate of the parameter vector. The distance does not reflect the distributional property of the change in the least squares estimator of the regression coefficients due to case deletions: the distribution has a covariance matrix of rank one and thus it has a support set determined by a line in the multidimensional Euclidean space. As a result, the use of Cook's distance may fail to correctly provide information about influential observations, and we study some reasons for the failure. Three illustrative examples will be provided, in which the use of Cook's distance fails to give the right information about influential observations or it provides the right information about the most influential observation. We will seek some reasons for the wrong or right provision of information.

미용교육과정 인식과 직무활용도 및 직무만족도 관련 연구 (A Study on Cognition, Job Utilization and Satisfaction in Beauty Education)

  • 본 연구는 미용전공 졸업생 205명을 대상으로 미용교육과정 인식이 현장활용성, 직무활용도, 직무만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 전공별 각 요인들의 차이를 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 설문을 진행하였다. 연구결과 피부는 실습, 기타 전공은 기술적인 면, 실기 테크닉 및 현장감 있는 교육에 대한 요구가 가장 많았고, 모든 전공이 이론<실습 형태의 교육과정, 실습 위주 수업을 요구하였다. 미용교육과정 인식 및 현장활용성이 낮게 나타났고 자격증 교육과정, 직무활용도 및 직무만족도 인식이 낮게 나타났다. 미용교육과정 인식이 현장활용성에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 나타냈고(p<0.001), 교육내용은 직무활용도 하위요인과 직무만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 나타냈다(p<0.001). 결론적으로 모든 전공에서 현장활용성, 직무활용도 및 만족도를 높이기 위해 실기교육 보완, 실습 비율 증가 등 교육과정 내용을 개선할 필요성이 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine among Breast Cancer Survivors

  • Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use is prevalent among individuals with cancer, especially breast cancer survivors. This study was conducted among 394 breast cancer survivors in selected regions of Peninsular Malaysia to identify the pattern and factors associated with CAM use. About 51% of the respondents reported CAM use as complementary treatment. Vitamins (47.2%), spiritual activities (33.2%) and other dietary supplements (30.7%) were the most commonly used CAM therapies. Common reasons for CAM use were to increase the body's ability to perform daily activities (70.9%), enhance immune function (58.3%) and improve emotional well-being (31.7%). Users obtained CAM information mainly from friends and family members (62.5%), physicians (25.0%) and mass media (13.9%). Ethnicity and years of education were significantly associated with CAM use. Although no adverse effects of CAM were reported, breast cancer survivors should discuss their CAM use with health professionals to prevent potential adverse effects of these therapies.

  • 이 연구는 고령화 시대에 실버 인구가 급증하는 4차산업 시대에 따라 새롭게 생기는 지식과 정보활용 능력을 ICT 교육 효과로 인해 실버세대들의 IOT 생활 적응에 미치는 영향에 따른 초점을 두고 분석하여 바림직한 교육 방향을 모색 하는데 목적을 둔다. 문헌연구 및 설문조사로 실제 실버 정보화교육 대상자로 분석한 결과 대체로 정보화 교육은 실버 세대들의 전 삶의 질 향상 및 실제 IOT 기반의 웹 모바일 사용에도 긍정적 효과를 미치고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 정보화 교육의 기간에 따라 역량에 차이를 두고 있었으며, 전 직업 및 학력 등 다양한 기준에 따른 세분화와 이에 따른 4차 산업시대에 맞춤형 교육의 제공 및 실 삶의 질, 후 취업의 ICT 교육의 바람직한 방향에도 개괄적인 논의 및 과정 제시를 병행 한다.

A Study on the Protection of Biometric Information against Facial Recognition Technology

  • In this article, the authors focus on the use of smart CCTV, a combnation of biometric recognition technology and AI algorithms. In fact, the advancements in relevant technologies brought a significant increase in the use of biometric information - fingerprint, retina, iris or facial recognition - across diverse sectors. Both the public and private sectors, with the developments of biometric technology, widely adopt and use an individual's biometric information for different reasons. For instance, smartphone users highly count on biometric technolgies for the purpose of security. Public and private orgazanitions control an access to confidential information-controlling facilities with biometric technology. Biometric infomration is known to be unique and immutable in the course of one's life. Given the uniquness and immutability, it turned out to be as reliable means for the purpose of authentication and verification. However, the use of biometric information comes with cost, posing a privacy issue. Once it is leaked, there is little chance to recover damages resulting from unauthorized uses. The governments across the country fully understand the threat to privacy rights with the use of biometric information and AI. The EU and the United States amended their data protection laws to regulate it. South Korea aligned with them. Yet, the authors point out that Korean data aprotection law still requires more improvements to minimize a concern over privacy rights arising from the wide use of biometric information. In particular, the authors stress that it is necessary to amend Section (2) of Article 23 of PIPA to reflect the concern by changing the basis for permitting the processing of sensitive information from 'the Statutes' to 'the Acts'.

The Effects of Information Volume and Distribution on Cognitive Load and Recall: Implications for the Design of Mobile Marker-less Augmented Reality

  • This study examined the effects of information volume and distribution on learners' cognitive load and recall in a mobile augmented reality (AR) environment. Information volume refers to the degree of information users are provided in a learning task, while information distribution indicates the way in which information is distributed, either in a virtual or real format. Sixteen undergraduate students participated in the study, which employed a 2 × 3 randomized block factorial design with repeated measures. Information volume and distribution were independent variables, and factors in learners' cognitive load (mental effort, perceived ease of use, and perceived task difficulty) and recall test scores were the dependent variables. Information volume had significant main effects on perceived ease of use and task difficulty, and recall test scores, while information distribution had significant main effects on perceived task difficulty and test scores. A detailed discussion and implications are provided.

과학교육 정보체제 구축을 위한 연구 (A Study for Constructing the Korean Science Education Database)

  • The study reported here is a part of the Korean Science Education Database (SEDB) project, a long-term effort to improve science education by providing educational information to science educators. The purpose of the SEDB project is to improve access to science resources available to teachers, students, parents, and others. Three educational database have been investigated and discussed in depth. The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) that is the largest education database in the world and the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC) that is creating an easy-to-use catalog of mathematics and science curriculum materials have been investigated on the aspect of system and operation. The pilot form of the SEDB developed in this study has committed itself to reaching audiences that include practitioners and policymakers. The SEDB should be a collection of the most up-to-date and comprehensive listing of science curriculum materials in the nation, because educators need better access to the best instructional materials and programs to continually improve science education our nation's science. The researchers recommend the practical tips for developing an effective science education database.
