  • This paper proposes a technique for counting construction materials by analyzing an image acquired by a Drone. The proposed technique use drone log which includes drone and camera information, RCNN for predicting construction material type, dummy area and Photogrammetry for counting the number of construction material. The existing research has large error ranges for predicting construction material detection and material dummy area, because of a lack of training data. To reduce the error ranges and improve prediction stability, this paper increases the training data with a method of data augmentation, but only uses rotated training data for data augmentation to prevent overfitting of the training model. For the quantity calculation, we use a drone log containing drones and camera information such as Yaw and FOV, RCNN model to find the pile of building materials in the image and to predict the type. And we synthesize all the information and apply it to the formula suggested in the paper to calculate the actual quantity of material pile. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated through experiments.

  • This paper designs and proposes a file conversion process to IFC file, the international standard file format for BIM, in order to ensure mutual compatability and manageability among users of commercial BIM modeling and design softwares in the civil engineering area. The proposed process insert additional properties consisting of the properties of quantity calculation codes and properties of CBS/OBS/WBS standard classification scheme, to the three dimensional object shape information of the converted IFC files, using add-in converters for commercial BIM modeling softwares. In addition, a process of integrated use of IFC files for open web-based quantity, process(4D), and construction cost(5D) management is additionally designed and implemented. Based on these works, the ultimate goal of this study is to propose a novel process for integrated use of open web-based quantity, process(4D), and construction cost(5D), from the design stage of BIM modeling to the final construction stage in the civil engineering area.

  • Road signs are important facilities in terms of providing information to driver, they are helpful for driver's judgment as deliver it's own information. However if there is occurrence dew on the road sign because of the change of temperature and humidity, it can be cause of accidents. Therefore it is necessary to develop anti-dew or dew resistance technology. In this research the anti-dew technologies such as insulation road sign and anti-dew film were compared with normal road sign, and the effectiveness analysis was conducted for each alternatives. The quantity of dew on the road sign was check using ANOVA and Tukey HSD and the relation between the retro-reflectivity and quantity of dew on the sign was check using Pearson correlation coefficient. As a result, the sample of anti-dew film attached road sign showed lesser quantity of dew compared with normal road sign. After 90 seconds, the difference of dew quantity for anti-dew film and insulation road sign showed statistically significant result. The relation of between quantity of dew and retro-reflectivity was inverse correlation. As a result, when analyzed the quantity of dew and retro-reflectivity a point of view anti-dew effectiveness, the anti-dew film and insulation road sign showed meaningful result.

  • The vergence control of binocular stereoscopic camera is the most essential factor for acquiring high quality stereoscopic images. In this paper, we proposed a binocular stereoscopic camera vergence control method using disparity information by the simple image processing and estimate the quantity of vergence control using the Lagrange interpolation equation. The method of extracting disparity information through image processing is as follows: first the key-object in left & right images was extracted through labeling of the central area of the image, and then a simple method was used for calculating the disparity value of the same key-object in the labeled left and right images. The vergence control method uses disparity information and keeps the convergence distance of left & right cameras and the distance of the key-object the same. According to the proposed method, variance in the distance of the key-object and application of calculated disparity information of obtained left & right images to the quadratic Lagrange interpolation equation could estimate the quantity of vergence control, which confirmed that the method of stereoscopic camera vergence control can be simplified through experiments on various key-objects and other convergence distance.

  • Construction is a competitive industry and successful contractors must be able to win bids to obtain projects. Cash flow analysis not only determines actual profit at the end of the project, but also estimates required cash resources or cash ballances at the end of every month. Cash flow analysis is important in managing a construction project; however, it requires extensive information that is not immediately available to the general contractor. Before contractors can perform cash flow analysis, they must first complete a series of pre-requisites such as the quantity take off, scheduling, and cost estimating, followed by accurate assessments of project costs incurred and billable progress made. Consequently, cash flow analysis is currently a lengthy, uncertain process. This paper suggests improved cash flow analysis can be developed using data extraction in Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM models contain a wealth of information and tools have been developed to automate a series of process such as quantity takeoff, scheduling, and estimating. This paper describes a prototype tool to support BIM-based, automated cash flow analysis.

  • Cost and Schedule is the most important information, and how efficiently manage this information is the key issue for Construction Project Management. Domestically, systematic scheduling method such as CPM network is not only used widely but integration of time and cost information also is. In order to effectively integrate and use the time and cost information, it is suggested that WBS(Work Breakdown Structure) based QDB(Quantity Database) should be generated from the design phase and, WBS and QDB related system tool should be supported. It could be helpful to relate and integrate other construction project information.

  • Recent development in science and technology has modernized the weapon system of ROKN (Republic Of Korea Navy). Although the cost of purchasing, operating and maintaining the cutting-edge weapon systems has been increased significantly, the national defense expenditure is under a tight budget constraint. In order to maintain the availability of ships with low cost, we need accurate demand forecasts for spare parts. We attempted to find consumption pattern using data mining techniques. First we gathered a large amount of component consumption data through the DELIIS (Defense Logistics Intergrated Information System). Through data collection, we obtained 42 variables such as annual consumption quantity, ASL selection quantity, order-relase ratio. The objective variable is the quantity of spare parts purchased in f-year and MSE (Mean squared error) is used as the predictive power measure. To construct an optimal demand forecasting model, regression tree model, randomforest model, neural network model, and linear regression model were used as data mining techniques. The open software R was used for model construction. The results show that randomforest model is the best value of MSE. The important variables utilized in all models are consumption quantity, ASL selection quantity and order-release rate. The data related to the demand forecast of spare parts in the DELIIS was collected and the demand for the spare parts was estimated by using the data mining technique. Our approach shows improved performance in demand forecasting with higher accuracy then previous work. Also data mining can be used to identify variables that are related to demand forecasting.

  • This paper reports the syntactic distribution of amu-N-to/-ilato/-ina phrase, which are representative polarity sensitive items. (PSIs) in Korean, and ac- counts for their semantic characteristics in therms of "arbitrary choice quantification" and "concession" In the first section, we extensively illustrate the distributional behaviour of the PSIs in various costructions and roughly generalize the distribu- tion in terms of "(anti/non-) verdicality" Section 2 claims amu denotes an arbi- trary choice quantifier and the particles -to/-ilato/-ina as "concessive" markers, so the compounds denote a special element in a pragmatic scale determined by con- text/situation, Section 3. based on the pragmatics of scalar implicature, accounts for the apparent ambiguity of PSIs between "universal"and "existential"readings and further characterizes the difference among the concessive markers -to/-ilato/-ina in terms of "quantity/ quality scale."rkers -to/-ilato/-ina in terms of "quantity/ quality scale."

  • In this paper determined is the quantity of repairable concurrent spare parts(CSP) of a new equipment system to maximize the operational availability under budget constraint and cannibalization allowed. When a part fails, the part is replaced and the failed part is repaired for later use while cannibalization is allowed. The failure of a part is assumed to follow a Poisson process and the availability in CSP is defined. The solution procedure consists of two parts. Firstly, a mathematical model is developed under the assumption that the failure rate is constant during the CSP period and cannibalization is not allowed. Secondly, proposed is a simulation search procedure which improves the heuristic solution to the near optimal solution in a reasonable amount of time under the assumption that the cannibalization is allowed.
