  • This study attempts to derive critical success factors and prioritize activities for implementing the automation of software test. Software testing proceeds in five steps of test plan, test case design, test scripting & test environment setup, test execution & evaluation, and test closure. From the literature, twenty influence factors in the five steps were identified. Focus Group Interviews with ten experts in software testing selected fourteen factors on the basis of importance and feasibility. Some factors were further divided to clarify their meanings and the number of influence factors finally became twenty one. A survey on the influence factors was conducted with 75 IT professionals. An importance-feasibility analysis was applied to the survey responses and classified the influence factors into four groups of essential factors, critical factors, low priority factors, and minimal factors. Essential factors include objectives for test automation, strategies for test automation, test automation training, test automation education, setting up test automation environment, setting up test environment, test automation tool selection. Critical factors include management's continued support, management's continued interest, role of automation engineers, and skills of automation engineers. This result suggests that a lot of efforts should be put into SW test plan for the successful SW test automation and SW automation should proceed in consideration with the priorities and resource consumption.

  • In medical research, the risk factors associated with human diseases need to be identified to predict the incidence rate and determine the treatment plan. Logistic regression analysis is primarily used in order to select risk factors. However, individuals who are unfamiliar with statistics outcomes have trouble using these methods. In this study, we develop a nomogram that graphically represents the numerical association between the disease and risk factors in order to identify the risk factors for delirium and to interpret and use the results more effectively. By using the logistic regression model, we identify risk factors related to delirium, construct a nomogram and predict incidence rates. Additionally, we verify the developed nomogram using a receiver operation characteristics (ROC) curve and calibration plot. Nursing home, stroke/epilepsy, metabolic abnormality, hemodynamic instability, and analgesics were selected as risk factors. The validation results of the nomogram, built with the factors of training set and the test set of the AUC showed a statistically significant determination of 0.893 and 0.717, respectively. As a result of drawing the calibration plot, the coefficient of determination was 0.820. By using the nomogram developed in this paper, health professionals can easily predict the incidence rate of delirium for individual patients. Based on this information, the nomogram could be used as a useful tool to establish an individual's treatment plan.

  • Background: This research suggested a method for evaluating health and safety performance as a combination of reactive and active monitoring. Methods: A number of Freedom of Information requests (FoI) were sent to the Health and safety Executive (HSE) and 100 UK universities. Data on the number of reportable incidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences were compiled for UK universities and combined with the Impact Ranking for good health and well-being. A semi-structured survey was used to identify best H&S practices. Subsequently, the effect of workers' involvement in H&S management on RIDDOR and near-miss reports, was investigated using statistical analysis. Results: A ranking of UK universities that perform highly in Health and Safety (H&S) was assembled and selected universities were contacted to identify best practices. Best practices were divided into three categories: team management, roles and responsibilities, and H&S performance monitoring. One of the findings demonstrated a reverse dependence between provision of a refresher training in risk assessments and a number of reported RIDDOR incidents. Conclusion: Health and Safety professionals in the universities may find it useful to reflect on these findings and the identified best practices in order to improve the H&S performance in their own organisations.
