  • Patent information as the innovative index for activity of industry, science and technology reflects the inventive outcome of the nation, region, technology, or company etc.. and is able to be used as a tool evaluating the R&D product and technology diffusion. In this study, the index for analysing the productivity, innovation, and activity of the technology is provided to evaluate the technology in fields of the pharmaceutic, transport, biotechnology, textile, construction, machine parts, information media, and electric/telecommunication, which are becoming the national core technology. As a result of analysis, the technology activity in fields of the construction, pharmaceutic, and biotechnology shows a growing trend which reflect the interest in the quality and the extension of the life, but vice versa in fields of the textile, and information media. The innovation index in fields of the construction, pharmaceutic, and biotechnology index more than average, but vice versa in fields of the information media and electric/telecommunication. In case of technology productivity, more than 2 patentees are included in one patented technology. It has been determined that the technology productivity is decreased because of an increasing number of researcher participating the technology development, which is the recent trend of technology advancement.

  • This study aims to know whether the Accreditation of Hospitals can help to improve productivity of hospital and affect the conversion factor. Based on the Malmquist productivity Index, the productivity of accredited hospital improves. There exists an tendency that as the scores of Accreditation rises, productivity increases. Also the higher the productivity, the lower the conversion factors in the rigid statistical evidence. This evidence is independent of hospital classification, geographical distribution, grouping. This evidence supports the productivity index can be included in the fee negotiations. It also means that rather than static efficiency, the multi-year change of productivity information can be usefully combined to set a conversion factor in Korean National Insurance Contract especially in the discussion of the structural change of payment system.

  • This study analyzed the changes in the operational productivity of fourteen Korean container lines from 2019 to 2021 using MP I(Malmquist Productivity Index). The results indicated that the operational productivity of the shipping companies has increased by 38.4% annually, representing the TCI (Technical Change Index) increasing by 58.3% and the TECI (Technical Efficiency Change Index) decreasing by 12.6%. The increase in the operational productivity of the container shipping lines was mainly attributed to the high rise in ocean freight rates rather than an increase in fleet size or ship technical efficiency. However, the deep-sea shipping lines (i.e. HMM and SM lines) experienced increases in both the TCI and TECI, which was not the case for other shipping lines(i.e. Intra-Asian short-sea shipping lines). The intra-Asian short-sea shipping lines enhance their productivity due to the TCI but failed to appreciate the cost savings of the increased fleet effects due to the low SECI(Scale Efficiency Change Index) values.

  • In order to improve labor productivity in plants, it is important to grasp the existing problems there. But it is not easy for all the people in charge to have the same level understanding to those. This article suggests an approach to tackle with this situation by using various visualization techniques.

  • Recently, as IT convergence has seen rapid growth the role and scope of software has been extended. many software companies are trying to improve the software quality and project outcome using software process improvement approach to cope with increasing software demands and software quality. Although software process improvement is difficult task which requires a lot of cost and time, there is still insufficient objective evidence on business benefits by its deployment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between software process improvement and software project productivity. That is, we investigated whether there is difference in software development productivity depends on software engineering level using statistical methods. We found that the software development productivity is different across the software engineering levels and the higher software engineering level can lead to improved software development productivity.

  • Estimation of software project cost, effort, and duration in the early stage of software development cycle is a difficult and key problem in software engineering. Most of development effort and duration estimation models presented by regression model of simple relation function point vs. effort and effort vs. duration instead of considering developer's productivity. But different project have need for different effort according to developer's productivity if the projects are same software size. Also, different duration takes according to developer's productivity if the projects require the same effort. Therefore, models that take into account of productivity have a limited application in actual development project. This paper presents models that can be estimate the duration according to productivity in order to compensate a shortcoming of the previous models. Propose model that could presume development period by various methods based on productivity and compared models' performance. As a result of performance comparison, an estimating model of development period from software size got simple and most good result. The model gives decision-making information of development duration to project management in the early stage of software life cycle.

  • Assuming that Smart Work will have a positive effect on job satisfaction, and which, in turn, will improve productivity, domestic and international organizations have adopted and implemented Smart Work. However, leading companies have recently reduced or shut down operations of Smart Work. If Smart Work had really brought about the improvement of productivity, there would be no reason for organizations to take such action. Therefore, this paper reviews the relationship among Smart Work, job satisfaction and productivity. Based on the National Digital Science Library (NDSL) database, we select eight references related to Smart Work, and analyze them systematically. The previous empirical studies show that Smart Work produces a positive outcome for job satisfaction, which, in turn, improves productivity. However, we find that the previous research has a problem demonstrating the relationship between job satisfaction and productivity, because they has unclearly measured the concept of job satisfaction. This research deeply discuss this issue, and provides future research direction.

  • This paper establishes the empirical model based on Hall's(1990) and Basu' s(1996) models, estimates the five types of productivity in the medical service industry over the period 1975:1-2010:4, and analyzes the cyclicality of measured productivities and their correlations with the industrial real wage. The empirical results are summarized as the followings. First, there proved to be substantial market power in pricing and returns to scale in production for the medical service industry. Second, the three types of productivity among 5 types showed to be procyclical. Third, the average labor productivity, the original Solow residual, and the cost-based Solow residual are expected to provide reasonable indexes in analyzing the relationship between productivity and real wage.

  • This paper is concerned with development of the production-oriented structural design information system to predict the inaccuracy level of panel blocks and to consider the result at the structural design stage. Emphasis is placed on that the inaccuracy during production should likely be considered at the structural design stage to reduce the undesirable adjusting work and therefore to enhance the productivity. The primary goal of the present study is to consider the productivity and the efficient design at the same time for a high quality product of panel block. Usefulness of the developed information are illustrated through some application examples.

  • We analyzed the author's productivity and cited literatures to assess research activities of medical scientists and scientific properties of medical research in Korea by bibliometric research methods. We tested applicability of Lotka's law and analyzed the author's productivity by means of Brookes graphic model. And we measured core journals, aging factors and half-life in medical literatures by the Bradford's law and the law of obsolescence.
