Indexes has not devcloped as an independent branch in library science from the beginning, but it has gradually evolved in a clo~eas sociation with catalog and under the direct influence of the development of publishing pro cesses and of the rapid social changes. Historically, index in the West can be traced back to eariler concordance. On the other hand, index in the Bast does not show a continuous development. It started with book catnlog, but other types of indexing were later 'adopted from the West. Indexing in the West and in the East can be summarized as follows: 1) In the West, Taylor considers Gesner's Pandectae was the first index but the Concordance of the Bible in 1247 was the first true index. Indexing method was first established later in 1545 in Gesner's Partitiones which appeared in three volumes. Classified index appeared after Partitions, but alphabetically ordered index was not developed until th eseventeenth century. The pxiodical index of La France S~auante in 1683 proved -its value, and Poole's An Alphabetical Index in the nineteenth century became the turning point in the development of indexing. After Poole's Index appeared periodical index and book catalog gradually began to be treated separately, and subject index and cross reference were incorporated into indexing. Also dictionary arrangement of the indexed items was adopted in the second half of the nincteenth, century after Charles A. Cutter developed his theory of rules for dictionary catalog and systematic studies of indexing were carried out by many scholars. In the twentieth century, index was mainly developed in the United States of America, especially by Wilson publishing Company. The general trend is to move away from the gcncral index to subject index. Also the ncwspapcr indcx such as The Times I~zdcx is 21 landmark in the history cf indcxing. 2) In China, thcs arc somc cvidcnccs that $Bizgluh(&), $ was the first indcx, but unforlunatcly the book itsclf has not been found as yet.

Axial compression tests have been carried out on 18 rectangular concrete-filled cold-formed steel tubular (CFST) columns with the aim of investigating the axial behaviour of rectangular CFST columns under different loading methods (steel loaded-first and full-section loaded methods). The influence of different loading methods on the ultimate strength of the specimens was compared and the development of Poisson's Ratio as it responds to an increasing load was reported and analysed. Then, the relationship between the constraining factor and the strength index, and the relationship between the constraining factor and ductility index of the specimens, were both discussed. Furthermore, the test results of the full-section loaded specimens were compared with five international code predicted values, and an equation was derived to predict the axial carrying capacity for rectangular CFST columns with a steel loaded-first loading method.

This paper presents an vulnerability index for hidden failure of protective relays in transmission system. The bad influence can be quantized by an vulnerability index. When there is mis-operation, no-operation or mis-setting, power flow can be quantized by an index. According to the index, relays can be resetting. So the wide area blackout can be prevented.

In Sasang Constitution Medicine (SCM), it is most important that a personal SCM type is determined accurately ahead of applying any Sasang treatments. Although SCM doctors have districted personal SCM types in many hospitals and universities via their own discriminant, it still lacks objective criteria on diagnosis of SCM type. Therefore, many researchers have been studied to diagnose the SCM type using constitutional clinical data. Previous work, we have developed decision tree program to analyze the clinical information. In this paper, we developed a clinical index program based on the web to analyze the correlation among clinical information. Finally, we identified useful factors(4 clinical indexes) which have significant influence on SCM types using clinical index program with previously developed decision tree program.

various applications is presented. It is based on rapid-prototyping of transparent model for flow visualization and on the use of refractive index matching that enables efficient and clear visualization of the flow inside the model. The model is immersed in the index-matching fluid in a glass tank so that any displacement and rotation of the model in the tank have no influence on the optical setup for image acquisition to be made through a glass wall. This can facilitate greatly the camera calibration for stereo PIV and 3-D PTV. As the flow model is generated directly from 3-D surface data, no laborious preparation of the flow model is needed. This approach for seamless linking of model generation and PIV measurement is applicable to various flow measurements in automobile, ship building, fluid machinery, turbine, electrical appliances, heat exchanger, electronic cooling, bio-engineering and so on.

This research deals with the study of vibrational behavior of armchair and zigzag single-walled carbon nanotubes invoking extended Love shell theory. The effects of different physical and material parameters on the fundamental frequencies are investigated. By using volume fraction for power law index, the fundamental natural frequency spectra for two forms of single-walled carbon nanotubes are calculated. The influence of frequencies against length-to-diameter ratios with varying power law index are investigated in detail for these tubes. To discretize the governing equation in eigen-value form, wave propagation approach is developed. Complex exponential functions have been used and the axial model depends on boundary condition that has been described at the edges of carbon nanotubes to calculate the axial modal dependence. Computer software MATLAB is utilized for the frequencies of single-walled carbon nanotubes and current results shows a good stability with comparison of other studies.

Based on the reliability theory and limit analysis method, the roof stability of a shallow tunnel is investigated under the condition of surface settlement. Nonlinear Hoek-Brown failure criterion is adopted in the present analysis. With the consideration of surface settlement, the internal energy and external work are calculated. Equating the rate of energy dissipation to the external rate of work, the expression of support pressure is derived. With the help of variational approach, a performance function is proposed to reliability analysis. Improved response surface method is used to calculate the Hasofer-Lind reliability index and the failure probability. In order to assess the validity of the present results, Monte-Carlo simulation is performed to examine the correctness. Sensitivity analysis is used to estimate the influence of different variables on reliability index. Among random variables, the unit weight significantly affects the reliability index. It is found that the greater coefficient of variation of variables lead to the higher failure probability. On the basis of the discussions, the reliability-based design is achieved to calculate the required tunnel support pressure under different situations when the target reliability index is obtained.

Injection molding process factors such as molding temperature, injection pressure, flow rate and flow velocity, must be controlled properly in filling and packing phases in the injection molding process. In this study, effects of these factors on the injection molding were investigated through the flow analysis for birefringence and refractive index for pickup lens. This paper presents the birefringence and refractive index reduced with increasing the holding pressure and also the holding pressure time. And there are interaction with birefringence and fill time in the injection process. The optimal conditions through DOE are validated by using injection molding analysis.

Many companies are expected to focus on core competency rather than reduce IT cost from IT Outsourcing. But, by this time there are no a framework for evaluating intensity of core competency and maturity of IT outsourcing capability. This paper is conducted to provide a framework for evaluating intensity of core competency and maturity of IT outsourcing capability. This paper is to verify if the company's core competency and IT outsourcing capability have a significant influence on each other.
