다단 왕복동 공기압축기의 평형추 설계 (Counter Weight Design of Multi-stage Reciprocating Air Compressors)

  • Modem reciprocating air compressors have tendency to a multi-stage W-type or V-type cylinder arrangement for the purpose of high outlet pressure, compactness and low vibration and noise. A valid counter weight calculation method using the complex expression is proposed for reducing the inertia forces of the compressor. Counter weight removes only 1st forward whirl component. Counter weight formulations are applied to the six various compressor structures which are (a) 1 cylinder single-throw crank shaft, (b) 2 cylinder single-throw crank shaft (c) 2 cylinder double-throw clank shaft, (d) 3 cylinder single-throw crank shaft, (e) 4 cylinder single-throw crank shaft and (f) 4 cylinder double-throw crank shaft. The improvement of performance is verified through available vibration test.

  • This paper addresses an analytical approach to the mechanical error analysis of gear train and tolerance design and manufacture of gear train in restricted space considering motor driving torque, driving system inertia, motor acceleration, motor rotor inertia and friction torque. The gear train is designed to have optimum gear ratio in restricted space and each gear is manufactured to have the lowest weight and each gear tooth is heat-treated to have robustness. Based on the small difference between the mechanical error analysis and measurement, gear train design with optimum gear ratio and restricted space and robustness is proposed.

  • Frictional characteristics with the change of dynamic parameters, such as stiffness, inertia and damping, in the friction measurement at dry sliding surfaces were experimentally and theoretically investigated throughout the study. Dynamic frictional force and the variation in the normal load were mainly measured at the various conditions of system dynamic parameters with which stiffness in the normal direction, loading mechanisms and test materials were varied. For the normal load, mechanisms using both a dead weight and a pneumatic cylinder were applied, which resulted in change of the inertia and damping of the test rig. Test materials were steel, rosin and PTFE, which have different types of intrinsic frictional characteristics. Test results showed that frictional characteristics under different dynamic parameters could be different even though the operating variables were the same and also they could result in the variation in the normal load, which could consequently affect the wear mechanism.

  • In electric motor coaches, the rolling stocks move by the adhesive effort between rail and driving wheel. Generally, the adhesive effort is defined by the function of both the weight of electric motor coach and the adhesive effort between rails and driving wheel. The characteristics of adhesive effort is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheel. When the adhesive effort decreases suddenly, inertia conversion the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. This paper proposes a anti-slip control algorithm which uses the maximum adhesive effort by instantaneous estimation of adhesion force using load torque disturbance observer. Based on this estimated adhesive effort, the anti-slip control is performed to obtain the maximum transfer of the tractive effort.

  • Conventional drum washing machine is divided by amount of laundry on 3 step. Because that, this method is arisen in case of washing smaller amount of laundry than each weight during same time. In other words, power is wasted by unnecessary washing time. In this paper, exact quantity of laundry is obtained by using inertia estimator considering features of drum washing machine, unnecessary washing time is decreased by selection proper washing time, thus the algorithm that increase efficiency by reducing power consumption is proposed.

  • The intelligent auto-tuning method fur a strongly stable adaptive control system of a DC motor with great load inertia variation is proposed. The stable characteristic polynomial that is designed by an optimal servo is specified for the adaptive pole placement control system. The appropriate adaptive control system can be derived, by adjusting automatically the weight of a performance criterion in optimal control by means of the fuzzy inference on the basis of the stability index.

  • For the purpose of high outlet pressure, compactness and low vibration and noise, modem reciprocating air compressors are tend to have a multi-stage W-type or V-type cylinder arrangement. An effective counter weight calculation method is presented for reducing the inertia forces of the compressor. This calculation method is using the complex representation and verified its validity. A design program for the counter weight of W-type or V-type air compressor was presented to the manufacturer, A designed counter weight was attached to the W-type or V-type air compressor. Vibration test results gave us improved performance.

스티어링 펌프 브라켓의 경량화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Weight Reduction of the Steering Pump Bracket)

  • The power steering pump bracket for a passenger car which is mounted on the engine block plays a role to support the inertia forces of the pump and the reaction forces of the belt assembly. The existing bracket which is made of FCD material has some demerits such as heavy weight, lower productivity and lower reliability. Recently, AI alloy bracket has been investigated to overcome these demerits. In this study, Stress analysis and modal analysis for a existing FCD bracket and two type of AI alloy brackets were performed, and strength and natural frequency of them were estimated by using finite element method to accomplish the weight reduction. As a result, the modified shape of AI alloy bracket is proposed, and it has achieved the 45% weight reduction and the improvement of its strength and vibration characteristics.

An improved particle swarm optimizer for steel grillage systems

  • In this paper, an improved version of particle swarm optimization based optimum design algorithm (IPSO) is presented for the steel grillage systems. The optimum design problem is formulated considering the provisions of American Institute of Steel Construction concerning Load and Resistance Factor Design. The optimum design algorithm selects the appropriate W-sections for the beams of the grillage system such that the design constraints are satisfied and the grillage weight is the minimum. When an improved version of the technique is extended to be implemented, the related results and convergence performance prove to be better than the simple particle swarm optimization algorithm and some other metaheuristic optimization techniques. The efficiency of different inertia weight parameters of the proposed algorithm is also numerically investigated considering a number of numerical grillage system examples.
