  • Daejeon Metropolitan City has the best innovation capability infrastructure (ICT) required for the 4th industry. Nevertheless, there are scattered factors that hinder the industrial ecosystem. In this study, the factor of job creation was approached from the viewpoint of organizational ecology in consideration of regional characteristics during the 4th Industrial Revolution. That is, the case of job creation through overseas ICT-based clusters (or cities) was examined. Then, the factors of organizational ecology, 'niche', 'variation', 'selection', and 'retention' were derived. Through this process, we explored the environment surrounding Daejeon Metropolitan City and benchmarked lessons from existing overseas cluster cases. As a result, we discover the 'niche' of ICT-based job creation and suggest strategies for the 'variation' process to survive in the ecosystem and how to be 'retention' in the ecosystem. n conclusion, the strategy of the organizational ecological approach to establish itself as a metropolitan city as the strength of Daejeon city and the 'innovation hub' that is evident, such as '4th Industrial Revolution City', 'Innovation City Designation', and 'Secure Excellent Capability of SW' Insist on need. Through this study, we hope that there will be a theoretical contribution to the prior research lacking from original research such as the scarcity of ICT-based job creation research in response to the era of the fourth industrial revolution, recognition of the importance of the region in job creation, and presentation of an organizational ecological approach of sustainable clusters.

  • The advancement of IT and the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" blurred the boundary between industries. The importance of strategic cooperation between enterprises is emphasized. IT companies must consider their existing business areas and create new territories to drive changes in the industry. They must also secure their competitive edge and manage economic costs to enable them to compete with their global counterparts. By utilizing their resources effectively, these firms can create value through inter-firm cooperation. This study analyzes the collaborative network of global IT companies using social network analysis and examines the effect of this network on firm performance. Collaborative linkages and betweenness centrality, which represent the bridging position of a firm in a network, significantly affect firm performance. This result highlights the importance of the structural position of a firm in a cooperative network of IT companies. This study also characterizes clusters in a network of IT companies. Most of these clusters comprise a combination of IT companies in diverse IT industries. These clusters suggest that these companies engage in multilateral cooperation without boundaries to maximize their business capabilities. This study offers practical implications for establishing a cooperative strategy and framework that can capture business trends in the IT industry from a macroscopic view. This study also visualizes collaborative networks in a multifaceted way using social network analysis to provide researchers and business practitioners with an informative viewpoint.

  • After M. Porter proposed the concept of industrial cluster, a lot of academic papers and industry surveys have suggested that industrial cluster is the key factor to competitive edge and long-term economic growth. Industrial cluster is often defined as geographical concentrations of interconnected entities in a particular industrial field. And the agglomeration economy is regarded the key factor of developing the industrial clusters. The industrial clusters often have been growing over the territory of local governments. Therefor, the institutes supporting the industrial clusters and the companies in great-sphere level is required. The purpose of this paper is for comparing and analysing the institutes supporting the industrial clusters and the companies in great-sphere level including various local governments. As the result of this research, four types of the cooperative industrial supporting systems among various local governments are divided: 1. inducing foreign direct investment into domestic area by regional development agency, 2. co-developing research parks or industrial parks by some local governments, 3. taking regional industrial statistics and writing development strategies over the boundary of the local governments, 4. constructing internet portal sites networking the local companies, universities, research centers of the same industrial cluster.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe 20's to 30's men's fashion lifestyle and develop clusters in grooming related variables. We also tried to interpret profile of clusters, and determine the difference between different level of grooming clusters in appearance care behaviors, and clothing behaviors such as clothing selection, preference of clothing image and design in men's wear. Data was obtained using the survey methods by convenience sampling. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, chi-square test, and t-test were used for analysis using SPSS 18.0. The result of factor analysis of men's lifestyle show that 5 factors are extracted. Two different clusters were formed after the K-means cluster analysis. We realized that the level of grooming activity is significantly associated with the young men's major expenditure item, and beauty/care items, and the reason for exercise. The level of grooming was strongly associated with clothing selection behaviors. In addition, there is a significant difference in preferred image between two different grooming groups. In the feminine image, HG group favored more than LG group. The preferred design was associated with the degree of grooming as well. Unique and stylish top and bottom styles such as cargo, hiphop, and boots cut were favored more by HG group than LG group. We suggest that we can do market segmentation by the degree of the grooming activity, considering the current men's taste and trend to extend market share.

  • In this paper, an advanced demand clustering algorithm which can explore the planned maintenance outage of generators in changed electricity industry is proposed. The major contribution of this paper can be captured in the development of the long-term estimates for the generation availability considering planned maintenance outage. Two conflicting viewpoints, one of which is reliability-focused and the other is economy-focused, are incorporated in the development of estimates of maintenance outage based on the advanced demand clustering algorithm. Based on the advanced clustering algorithm, in each demand cluster, conventional effective outage of generators which conceptually capture maintenance and forced outage of generators, are newly defined in order to properly address the characteristic of the planned maintenance outage in changed electricity markets. First, initial market demand is classified into multiple demand clusters, which are defined by the effective outage rates of generators and by the inherent characteristic of the initial demand. Then, based on the advanced demand clustering algorithm, the planned maintenance outages and corresponding effective outages of generators are reevaluated. Finally, the conventional demand clusters are newly classified in order to reflect the improved effective outages of generation markets. We have found that the revision of the demand clusters can change the number of the initial demand clusters, which cannot be captured in the conventional demand clustering process. Therefore, it can be seen that electricity market situations, which can also be classified into several groups which show similar patterns, can be more accurately clustered. From this the fundamental characteristics of power systems can be more efficiently analyzed, for this advanced classification can be widely applicable to other technical problems in power systems such as generation scheduling, power flow analysis, price forecasts, and so on.

  • Corporate business clusters create a borderless business network through value chains and value creation activities. Clusters in the IT sector are crossing regional boundaries because of their rapid technological development and short product life cycle. To investigate this phenomenon, we examined the value activities of IT companies. As a result, the global expansion of the case companies was limited, but they had business clusters that exceeded the regional boundaries. However, because the order of business clusters is not advanced, value activities are focused on productivity rather than innovation. Given the rapidly evolving nature of IT, it is necessary to evolve into a business cluster that can create new value. Companies must design and implement value-creating processes to develop new technologies or enter new markets, which can lead to cluster growth. Companies must design and implement value-creating processes to develop new technologies or enter new markets, which can lead to cluster growth.

  • Purpose - As Korea is reaching a post-aged society, the number of chronic illness is increasing, and the demand for rehabilitation medical device is growing. Although there is high potential for the growth in rehabilitation industry, because most of the related companies in Korea are relatively small, lacking capital or R&D resource, it is difficult for them to create an innovative product, and currently most of the high-tech equipments are imported. Therefore a medical device cluster, where business, research, medical institutes and universities may work cooperatively to enhance research development and solve issues is necessary for future development. Research design, data, methodology - In this method we have done a literature review of the rehabilitation industry and industrial cluster. Based on the studies, we have conducted an exploratory factor analysis by studying examples of foreign and domestic medical clusters and drawing success factors in forming a medical cluster. Next based on the studies we have conducted a survey to domestic medical device companies to find their difficulties and needs to form a successful medical device cluster. Results - This paper provides both theoretic review on success factors of forming a medical device cluster and practical analysis using case study and survey. Conclusion - The significance of this paper is that based on the literature review, we have compared actual examples of domestic/foreign medical clusters and drawn difference and coincidence between literature and actual cluster success factor. We were also able to conduct a survey on actual medical device companies and through the results we were able to search difficulties and necessities of medical device companies.

  • This study adopts the concept of social innovation cluster in which social economy organizations as one of the emerging axes of economic systems operate in collaboration with government agencies, investment institutions, intermediate supporting organizations and non-profit organizations, and investigates how the clusters of this kind grow in the context of the Korean socio-economic situation for the cases of Seongdong-gu and Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul, Korea. For this purpose, it has identified the actors of the clusters and their internal relations, and analyzed the process of cluster formation. A social network analysis of the partnerships between the actors has shown that Seongdong-gu has more diversified types of the network participation of universities, global networks and investment institutions than Eunpyeong-gu. It is interpreted that this pattern has resulted from the domination of private organizations in the former area, which is also confirmed by in-depth interviews with persons involved in the clusters. Although the facets of social innovation clusters are manifested in both areas, even in their initial stage, such factors as linkages between industrial actors and convergence with other clusters, which appear in the maturing stage of cluster formation, has yet to be found. It is suggested that the sustainable growth of social innovation clusters should be accompanied by information sharing and cooperation between the two areas on the future orientation of development.

  • As movie demands become more and more diversified, it is necessary for movie related firms to segment a whole heterogeneous market into a number of small homogeneous markets in order to identify the specific needs of consumer groups. Relevant market segmentation helps them to develop valuable offer to target segments through effective marketing planning. In this article, we introduce various segmentation methods and compare their advantages and disadvantages. In particular, we analyze "2009~2010 consumer survey data of Korean Film Industry" by using Latent Class Analysis(LCA), a statistical segmentation method which identifies exclusive set of latent classes based on consumers' responses to an observed categorical and numerical variables. It is applied PROC LCA, a new SAS procedure for conducting LCA and finally get the result of 11 distinctive clusters showing unique characteristics on their buying behaviors.
