  • The purpose of this study is to classify the body types of obese men in their 50-60s and compare them with those of obese middle-aged men in their 30-40s. The 3D anthropometric data of obese men aged 50 to 60 years from the 6th Size Korea. The data are analyzed using SPSS 25.0 for Windows, and descriptive statistics, χ2 test, correlation analysis, and cluster analysis are used to classify obese body types. As a result of the study, five factors are extracted to determine body types, which are classified into three obese body types through cluster analysis. 1) a large physique and consequently large circumference and height; 2) A short upper body length, short height, and thick belly; 3) the lowest rate of obesity and relatively flat abdominal curve. For the 30-40s group, Type1 showed the highest rate at 55.6%, whereas for the 50s group, Type3 showed the highest rate at 49.3%, and for 60s group, Type2 showed the highest rate at 41.2%. The classification accuracy of the discriminant function for each type is 94.7%, indicating relatively high accuracy. Furthemore, the recently changed obese body type are analyzed by comparing it with the 3D anthropometric data of 8th Size Korea, which will contribute to the utilization of basic data for manufacturing apparel for obese men.

  • Because construction work is conducted outdoors, construction workers are affected by harmful environmental factor. Especially, Particulate Matter (PM10) is one of the harmful environmental factors with a diameter of 10㎍/m3 or less. When PM10 is inhaled by human, it can cause fatal impact on the human. Contrary to the various analyses of health impact on PM10, the research on the relationship between construction accidents and PM10 are few. Therefore, this study aims to conduct the relative frequency analysis which find out the correlation between construction accidents and PM10, and the modified PM10 grade is suggested to expect accidents probability caused by PM10 in the construction industry. This study is conducted by four steps. i) Establishment of the database; ii) Classification of data; iii) Analysis of the Relative Frequency of accidents in the construction industry by PM10 concentration; iv) Modified PM10 groups to classify the impact of PM10 on accident. In terms of frequency analysis, the most accidents were occurred in the average concentration of PM10 (32㎍/m3). However, we found that the relative frequency of accident was increased as the concentration of PM10 increased. This means the higher PM10 concentration can cause more accidents during construction. In addition, PM10 concentration was divided as 6 groups by the WHO, but the modified PM10 grade by the relative frequency on accident was suggested as 3 groups.

  • As the body shape change which occurs after middle age is the main factor affecting the fit of ready-to-wear clothes, this study was designed to classify and analyze the torso shapes of middle-aged men. This study sorted 3D body scans of 200 men aged 40-64 from the 8th Size Korea (2021) database and extracted their 47 measurement values using the Grasshopper algorithm for automatic extraction landmarks and measurements, developed by the previous research (Ryu & Song, 2022). Eight principal components (torso length, shoulder size, overall body size, abdomen prominence, back protrusion, neck inclination, upper body slope, and hip prominence) were identified and four torso shapes were classified. Shape 1 (28.5%) exhibited the shortest torso length, the narrowest shoulders, and the most protruding back. Shape 2 (21.0%) exhibited the skinniest body and the largest backward inclination of the upper body. Hence, the back appeared to be protruding, and the abdomen looked prominent. Shape 3 (25.5%) had the largest overall body size. Thus, the abdomen looked the least protruding, and it exhibited the flattest back. Shape 4 (25.0%) had the longest torso, widest shoulders, straightest neck, and the least protruding hips. This study suggested these three discriminant functions to identify a new person's torso type.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the recent development of meat analog, industrialization, and the related legal changes worldwide. Summarizing the current status of the industrialization of meat analog, studies on plant-based meat, mycoprotein, and edible insects were mainly conducted to investigate their sensory properties (texture, taste, flavor, and color resembling meat), nutritional and safety evaluations, acquisition method of meat alternatives, and commercialization. Cultured meat is mainly studied for developing muscle satellite cell acquisition and support techniques or materials for the formation of structures. However, these technologies have not reached the level for active industrialization. Even though there are differences in the food categories and labeling between countries, it is common to cause confusion or to relay false information to consumers; therefore, it is important to provide accurate information. In this study, there were some differences in the food classification and food definition (labeling) contents for each country and state depending on the product shape or form, raw materials, and ingredients. Therefore, this study can provide information about the current research available on meat alternatives, improve regulation, and clarify laws related to the meat analog industry, which can potentially grow alongside the livestock industry.

  • Body shape is the most influential factor in determining the quality of clothing fit. Women's body shape begins to change significantly in their mid-30s; therefore, this study aimed to classify and analyze the torso shapes of women aged 35-54 years. This study selected 200 3D body scans of women from the 8th Size Korea Survey database (2021). Using the Grasshopper algorithm developed in a previous study, 17 landmarks were automatically detected and 57 measurement values were generated. Using principal component analysis, 11 components (overall body size, upper body length, back protrusion, upper body slope, neck position, neck inclination, hip length, bust prominence, abdominal prominence, shoulder slope, and buttock prominence) were extracted. Three torso types were identified using K-means cluster analysis. The three body types were significantly different on nine component scores. Among the three torso types, Type 1 (37.5%) has the longest upper body and the flattest back and hips. Type 2 (31.0%) has the most curved back and forward upper body. Its abdomen is the flattest, and its shoulders are the most sloped. Type 3 (31.5%) has the shortest upper body, the most protruding hips, and the largest overall body size. This paper proposes two discriminant functions for identifying a new person's torso type.

  • Recently, domestic leisure boats have been actively researching eco-friendly product development to enter the global market. Since the hulls of existing leisure boats are mainly made of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) or aluminum, design techniques for securing structural safety by applying related materials have been mainly studied. In this study, an initial structural design safety assessment of a trimaran pontoon leisure boat with a modular hull structure and eco-friendly high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material was conducted, and sensitivity evaluation and optimization analysis for lightweight design were performed. The initial structural design safety assessment was carried out by creating a finite element analysis model and applying the loading conditions specified in the ship classification regulation to check whether the specified allowable stresses are satisfied. For the sensitivity evaluation, the influence of stress and weight of each hull structural member was evaluated using the orthogonal array design of experiments method, and an approximate model based on the response surface method was generated using the results of the design of experiments. The optimization analysis set the thickness of the hull structural members as the design variable and considered the optimal design formulation to minimize the weight while satisfying the allowable stress. The algorithm of the optimization analysis applied the Gradient-population Based Optimizer (GBO) to improve the accuracy of the optimal solution convergence while reducing the numerical cost. Through this study, the optimal design of a newly developed eco-friendly trimaran pontoon leisure boat with a weight reduction of 10% was presented.

  • This study started to identify the "Forward-looking" of the technology appraisal model introduced to diversify financing methods of SMEs and improve financial accessibility. The multivariate regression analysis was performed by setting the business performance(growth, profitability, and stability) of technology financing companies as dependent variables, technology appraisal items as independent variables, number of employees, age of the company, asset and the Korea Standard of Industry Classification related to firm size and industry characteristics as control variables. As a result of the analysis, the technology appraisal items did not explain the profitability of the company significantly and had a limited explanatory power on growth potential. However, in terms of stability, we confirmed that R&D capacity is a significant variable explaining the debt ratio of technology financing companies. Therefore, it is concluded that the 'Forward-looking' reflection on the growth and profitability of the company should be strengthened in the future adjustment of the technology appraisal model and the development of the technology appraisal model for investment.

  • To establish a radioactive waste life cycle history management system, a series of processes including waste generation, classification, packaging, storage, transportation, and disposal were reflected in the information management system. A preliminary review process was introduced to reduce the amount of radioactive waste generated and manage it efficiently. Through this, the amount of radioactive waste generated must be checked from the beginning of the research, and the generated radioactive waste must be thoroughly managed from the stage of generation to final disposal. In particular, in the case of radioactive waste data generated during nuclear facility operation and each experiment, a radioactive waste information management system must be operated to receive information from the waste generator and integrate it with processing information at the management stage. The application process for small-package containers was reflected so that information such as the generation facility of radioactive waste, generation facility, project information, types of radioactive waste, major radionuclides, etc. In the radioactive waste management process, the preceding steps are to receive waste history from the waste generators. This includes an application for a specified container with a QR label, pre-inspection, and management request. Next, the succeeding steps consist of repackaging, treatment, characterization, and evaluating the suitability of disposal, for a process to transparently manage radioactive wastes.

  • This study aims to identify high exposure tasks among the tasks performed in domestic nuclear power plants as a basis for developing training programs to improve the efficiency of workers' work. To this end, we first analyzed the exposure status of radiation work in domestic nuclear power plants. Radiation tasks in nuclear power plants were categorized, collective doses were investigated, and the collective doses were calculated based on the collective doses, and representative high exposure tasks were identified. We found that the collective and individual doses in domestic nuclear power plants are continuously decreasing, but there is an imbalance of exposure among workers. In terms of work classification, nuclear power plants are managed in 236 work codes based on light water reactors and 181 work codes based on heavy water reactors, depending on the work equipment and location. Among the total work codes, 23 codes have an annual average dose exceeding 10 μSv, and based on this, 10 representative high exposure tasks were derived. The representative high exposure tasks were selected as S/G nozzle dam work, S/G debris removal work, nuclear instrumentation system, S/G eddy current detection work, and insulation work. The results of this study are expected to serve as an important basis for reducing the exposure of workers in nuclear power plants and improving work efficiency.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the North Korea cement industry and technology status by comparing and analyzing the cement standards and properties of South and North Korea. In the literature study, data on North Korea's cement industry and standards were collected and analyzed through the Ministry of Unification's North Korea Data Center and other agency. The facilities, classification, and quality standards of South and North Korea cements were compared. In an experimental study, a survey on the quality of cement in North Korea was carried out through physical and chemical analysis experiments by obtaining a small amount of cement from North Korea, and compared with domestic cement. As a result, North Korea cement was of lower quality than South Korean cements. North Korea cement had lower C3S and higher C2S than South Korea cement, especially the residue content was much higher. In addition, North Korea cement had about 50% of the compressive strength of cement in South Korea because the clinker was not fired at a sufficient temperature due to the poor performance of the cement facilities in North Korea.
