  • This study was conducted to analyze the impact of industrial park development on the livelihood of people living around the industrial parks in the Central region of Vietnam. The data was collected from 394 households living around these industrial parks; using the data, the authors employed a quantification model among factors affecting the income of families living in the surroundings of industrial parks and they calculate the adaptive capacity of households to consider the impact of the development of industrial parks on people's livelihood. Research findings show that industrial park development has both positive and negative impacts on the livelihood of people living around the industrial parks. Specifically, the factors that positively affect the income of households living around industrial parks include the area of land acquired due to the construction of industrial parks, the transportation system after the industrial park has located there, and the number of jobs available when the industrial park is being built. The factor that negatively affects the income of households living around industrial parks when they are under construction is the number of unemployed laborers. The study also calculated that the adaptive capacity of the people after the industrial park development is a coefficient of 0.376.

  • In the course of the 20th century, a separation of industrial and residential areas issued several urban problems due to the industrialization, also new industry growth needed mixed-use industrial park. Also, necessity to make up sustainable industrial complex is emphasized. This paper attempts to make a conceptual understanding on mixed-use industrial park through the theoretical background, and chose planning elements through precedent studies and expert FGI. The analysis framework drawn from precedent studies and theories, implications were drawn from domestic and foreign case studies's actual conditions and comparison. With these Contents, there is meaning of study that projected sustainable mixed-used industrial park's plan direction to be formed in domestic hereafter.

  • This work aimed to analyze current status of by-products generation and industrial symbiosis network in Pohang steel industrial complex, South Korea. Pohang is the largest generating city of both total and the non-recycled industrial waste in Gyeongsangbuk-do, and most of the waste is generated from Pohang steel industrial park. Symbiosis map in Pohang steel industrial park shows that most of the current material symbiosis in the industrial park is for waste refractories and slag.

  • The industrial ecology indicators(IEI) for Yeosu Industrial Park were developed using eco-efficiency indicator(EEI). The key factors for the creation of IEI were two parts. One part is the value of the products which is selected as the total production value, the amount of ethylene production, the amount of light oil production instead of the total sales volume for Yeosu Industrial Park, since the currency exchange and the price of raw materials varied every year. The other part is the environmental burden. The electric consumption, the industrial water consumption, and the amount of discharged waste water are all officially opened to the public, were used in the calculation. Based on the value for the year of 2004, the IEI value for 2006 became worse to 0.954, but, was expected to be 1.153, a 15% improvement, for 2015 if the current EIP project is successfully performed.

  • Recently, SID (Sustainable Industrial Development) or green growth is the major concern of industries. EIP (Eco Industrial Park) is one of the important part of SID which aims to improve eco-efficiency of resources such as material, energy and water. In this study, current status of Banwol & Sihwa industrial complex relating EIP was investigated and the plan to design of Banwol & Sihwa EIP was suggested.
