Realization of Virtual Device Network(VDN) for Predictive Maintenance

  • Requirements for Distributed Monitoring and Control Networks(DMCN) differ greatly from those of typical data networks. Specifically, my DMCN technology which employs a filedbus protocol is different from IP network protocol TCP/IP. In general, one needs to integrate fieldbus protocol and TCP/IP to realize DMCN over IP network or internet, which can be viewed as Virtual Device Network(VDN). Interoperability between devices and equipments is essential to enhance the quality and the performance of predictive maintenance(PM). This paper suggests a basic framework for VDN using DMCN over IP network and a method to guarantee interoperability between devices and equipments.

  • With distribution industrial control system, the use of tow cost to achieve a highly reliable and safe system in real time distributed embedded application is proposed. This developed intelligent node is based on two microcontrollers, one for the execution of the application code, also as master controller for ensuring the real time control & the logic operation with PLD and other for communication task and the easy control execution, i.e., I/O digital input, digital output and interrupting. This paper also presents where the case NCS(Networked control system) with LonTalk protocol is applied for the filtration process control system of a small water treatment plant.

식품 및 축산물 금속검출기를 위한 네트워크 기반 자동화 시스템 설계 (Design of Network-based Automation System for Detecting Metallic Objects in Food and Livestock)

  • This paper presents a network-based automation system for the detection of metallic objects in food and livestock. A metal detector is a core equipment used for the inspection required by HACCP. Since the existing metal detectors are manufactured as a single-body equipment, it is difficult to take into account various user requirements for the system. In order to overcome the drawback, this study presents a network-based automation system for metal detector utilizing an industrial fieldbus and modular components. The proposed system can effectively consider the various customer requirements and control schemes. The proposed system can also achieve the improvement in speed and success rate of detecting metallic objects. The effectiveness of the proposed system is demonstrated through a various experiments.

  • As automation systems become intelligent and autonomous for productibility, industrial networks (fieldbuses) and network-based devices are essential components of intelligent manufacturing systems. However, there are obstacles for the wide acceptance of the network-based devices such as smart sensor and network-based actuator. First, there exist numerous fieldbus protocols that a network-based device should be able to support. Second, the whole network-based device has to be replaced when only the sensor of the module fails. In order to overcome these obstacles, a smart sensor/actuator is implemented as two units; one responsible for network communication and the other for sensor/actuator operations using IEEE 1451.0 standard. This paper presents a structure of the 1451.0-based smart sensor with multiple connectivity function designed by CANopen.

  • 스마트 팩토리화가 진행됨에 따라 자동화 설비 및 로봇의 활용이 늘어나고 있다. 또한 IT 기술의 발달로 음성인식을 활용한 시스템의 활용도도 올라가고 있다. 음성인식 기술은 스마트홈과 각종 IoT 기술에서 두각을 나타내고 있는 기술이지만 공장의 특수성으로 공장에 적용되기 힘든 상황에 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 제조 현장의 상황을 고려한 음성인식 기술을 활용하여 산업용 다관절 로봇을 제어하는 방법을 설계하였다. 모바일을 통해 로봇 조작을 위한 음성명령을입력 받은 후 네트워크 프로토콜 변환 및 명령어 변환 과정을 거쳐 로봇을 제어할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

스마트 팩토리 구축을 위한 프로토콜 개발 (The Development of Protocol for Construction of Smart Factory)

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트 팩토리 구축을 위한 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안하는 스마트 팩토리 구축을 위한 프로토콜은 OPC UA Server/Client, TSN 실시간 통신 기술, NTP & PTP 시간 동기화 프로토콜, 필드버스(Field Bus) 프로토콜 및 컨버젼 모듈, 데이터 전송지연에 대한 저장기술 및 동기화 프로토콜로 구성된다. OPC UA Server/Client 는 산업용 하드웨어 디바이스와 인터페이스 하기 위한 시스템 통합 프로토콜로써 플랫폼에 의존적이지 않고 다방면에서 사용할 수 있는 표준을 지원한다. TSN 실시간 통신 기술은 고속 네트워크 환경에서 디바이스들 간 정확한 시간을 공유함으로써 생산라인 등의 정밀한 시간관리 및 제어기술을 제공한다. NTP & PTP 시간 동기화 프로토콜은 IEEE1588 표준화 기술을 제공한다. 필드버스 프로토콜 및 컨버젼 모듈은 산업에서 주로 사용하는 프로토콜을 OPC로 변환하여 연결의 확장성을 제공한다. 데이터 전송 지연에 대한 저장기술 및 동기화 프로토콜은 데이터 전송 지연과 데이터의 손실에 대한 해결 기능을 제공한다. 제안된 스마트 팩토리 구축을 위한 프로토콜의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 시험기관에서 실험한 결과 응답시간은 0.1367ms, 동기시간은 0.404ms, 동시접속 수는 100개, 프로토콜의 연동개수 5개, 데이터 저장 및 동기화는 1,000노드로 세계최고 수준과 동일한 결과를 산출하였다.

The Profibus Timed Token MAC Protocol for Real-Time Communications

  • This paper describes how to use Profibus networks to support real-time industrial communications, that is, how to ensure the transmission of real-time messages within a maximum bound time. Profibus is based on a simplified timed token protocol, which is a well-proved solution for the real-time communication systems. However, Profibus differs from the timed token protocol, thus the usual timed token protocol has to be modified in order to be applied in Profibus. In fact, the real-time solutions for networks based on the timed token protocol rely on the possibility of allocating specific bandwidth for the real-time traffic. This means that a minimum amount of time to transmit the real-time messages is always guaranteed whenever each token is arrived. In other words, with the Profibus protocol, at least, one real-time message should be transmitted per every token visit in the worst case. It is required to control medium access properly to satisfy the message deadlines. In this paper, we have presented how to obtain the optimal network parameter for the Profibus protocol. The selected network parameter is valid regardless of the behavior of asynchronous messages.

자동화 시스템에서 Profibus 네트워크 인터페이스 구현 및 성능 평가 (A case study on the implementation and performance evaluation of profibus network in automation systems)

  • This paper presents an implementation method of Profibus interface software using FMS(Fieldbus Message Specification). The Profibus interface software is implemented on PC which is widely used as an industrial computer as well as a commercial embedded controller called IUC(Intelligent Universal Controller). In order to enable the Profibus interface software to handle many application tasks and communication services, two kinds of real-time/multi-tasking operating system, OS-9 and CTask, are utilized. We also develop an experimental model of Profibus-based automation system, and evaluate the performance of the Profibus network. Through experiments, the user layer level message latency is measured with respect to the change of message length, message generation interval and TRT(Target Rotation Time). The results of experiment are compared with those of a simulation model which comprises only the physical and data link layers of Profibus. The results of this study shows that the message latency in the user layer level occupies fairly a large part of the total message latency.
