  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the EM wave absorber consisted of Sendust for suppressing EM wave noise PCB in ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band of 2.4 GHz. We fabricated several samples with different composition ratios of some kinds of Sendust to CPE (Chlorinated Ploy-ethylene) as a binder, and it was confirmed that the optimum composition ratio of absorbing materials was Flaked Sendust : CPE = 72.5 : 27.5 wt.%.. The absorbing abilities were simulated by changing the thickness and the measured material constants of EM wave absorber. The measured absorption abilities were analyzed and compared with the simulated ones. As a result, the simulated results agree well with the measured ones, and the developed EM wave absorber with extremely thin thickness of 0.6 mm has absorption ability of 5.4 dB at 2.4 GHz is excellent one. The thin type EM wave absorber can be applied for suppressing and absorbing electromagnetic noises from information and communication equipments.

  • Green house gas emissions are increasing as development of the industrial economy of the international community. Many countries in the world are endeavoring to reduce green house gas emissions under severe climate change. In order to protect grobal warming, government is trying to reduce green gas emissions under "Low Carbon Green Growth Policy" and investing climiate-firendly industries such as renewable energy harvesting. Renewable energy has been rapidly developing as a result of investment for development technology of using natural energy such as solar, wind, tidal, etc. There are lots of waste energy in the road space. However, nobody is not interested in waste energy from the road space. This paper present a fundamentally experimental study of energy harvesting technique to use waste energy in the road. The waste energy in the road is covered a pressure and impact of vehicles on the road, the radiant heat from asphalt pavement, road noise and vibration etc. In this study, an energy harvesting device using piezoelectric element is proposed and various tests are conducted to investigate a characteristic of this device as function of impact loading based on piezoelectric effect behavior. This paper shows the energy harvesting results of the device using domestic piezoelectirc element as a function of impact load size and pavement types.

  • It is an essential element for the establishment of image processing related systems to find the exact contour from the image of an arbitrary object. In particular, if a vision system is established to inspect the products in the automated production process, it is very important to detect the contours for standardized shapes such lines and curves. In this paper, we propose a prototype adaptive dynamic contour model, p-Snake with improved contour extraction algorithms by adding the prototype energy. The proposed method is to find the initial contour by applying the existing Snake algorithm after Sobel operation is performed for prototype analysis. Next, the final contour of the object is detected by analyzing prototypes such as lines and circles, defining prototype energy and using it as an additional energy item in the existing Snake function on the basis of information on initial contour. We performed experiments on 340 images obtained by using an environment that duplicated the background of an industrial site. It was found that even if objects are not clearly distinguished from the background due to noise and lighting or the edges being insufficiently visible in the images, the contour can be extracted. In addition, in the case of similarity which is the measure representing how much it matches the prototype, the prototype similarity of contour extracted from the proposed p-ACM is superior to that of ACM by 9.85%.

  • Much of the working population in developing countries are engaged in shift work now and the number of shift workers is not expected to decrease in the future mostly because the need for continuity of production is increasing. Therefore, the possible effects of shift work on health are of particular interest, and in fact, there have been many epidemiological studies on shift work since the first world war. However, no studies on health effects of shift work have been reported in Korea, and the existing studies in western world have arrived at quite different conclusions mainly because the conditions of work other than shift work, such as age and selection of workers, work environment, and labor conditions also influence the health of workers. This study was firstly carried out in Korea to investigate the health risks related to shift work with 2,093 female workers randomly selected from three major manufacturing industries in proportion to total number of female workers in those industries. Differences of work conditions other than shift work in this study were adjusted by multivariate analysis. Ma findings obtained from this study are as follows : 1. There were significant differences between shift and day workers in the distribution of age, type of industry, condition of noise and dust, regularity of mealtime, working position, and working duration. Shift workers tended to be younger, to have shorter working duration, to have more irregular mealtime, to work in standing position, and to work under more noisy and dusty environment than day workers. 2. Univariate analysis showed that shift work increased the Todai Health Index (THI) scores of digestive tract, respiratory tract, and mental instability symptom categories. Shift work also increased days of sickness absence and number of industrial accident per 100 workers per month. 3. Multivariate analysis that adjusted the differences of demographic, occupational and non-occupational health-related working conditions showed that digestive tract symptom and mental instability symptom scores were significantly higher in shift workers than those in day workers. Based on these study results, it is concluded that the shift work has significant effects on some psychophysiological conditions of the workers and the effects are also influenced by several other personal and working conditions.

  • In the unmanned vehicle industry, the market is exploding due to the rapid development of public and private demands along with the technological development of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In addition, unmanned mobiles are being used for communication services. In this paper, we analyzed the communication performance of unmanned aerial vehicle according to the characteristics of Doppler frequency. The Doppler frequency was calculated using the geometric model of the unmanned aerial vehicle, and the Doppler frequency of 10km, 30km, 300km, 1000km per hour and the BER performance by AWGN were measured by considering the unmanned high speed unmanned vehicle based on the position of the controller. The Doppler frequency model uses a Dent model and adds additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) to check the bit errors of the transmitter and receiver. Low speed unmanned vehicles generally exhibited a BER performance of 0.2, while high speed unmanned vehicles generally exhibited a BER performance of 0.06. As the frequency band increases at the same speed, the BER performance increases, and when the speed increases in the same frequency band, the BER performance decreases. This is confirmed by the simulation results to predict theoretically predictable BER performance. In the frequency bands of 2.6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 28 GHz, the BER characteristics by Doppler frequency and the BER characteristics by controller function are verified. effect was confirmed.

  • Objectives: Diisocyanates are a potent inducer of diseases of the airways, especially asthma. In this study, toluenediamine(TDA) and methylenedianiline(MDA) in urine were evaluated as biomarkers of exposure to tolunenediisocyanate(TDI) and methylenediphenyl diisocyanate(MDI), respectively. Methods: Workers exposed to TDI and MDI, as well as non-occupationally exposed subjects, were studied and pre- and post-shift urine samples were collected from 8 control subjects and 8 workers from a factory which manufactures polyurethane products for reducing noise and vibration in automobiles. Airborne TDI and MDI(n=8) were sampled on solvent-free glass filters impregnated with n-butylamine and detected by liquid chromatography atmospheric pressure ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Urinary TDA and MDA were detected as pentafluoropropionic acid anhydride(PFPA) derivatives by liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Results: The median levels of urinary 2,6-TDA(p<0.001), 2,4-TDA(p=0.001), and MDA(p<0.001) of workers in post-shift samples were significantly higher than those of controls. The median levels of urinary 2,6-0TDA($0.63{\mu}g/g$ creatinine vs $0.34{\mu}g/g$ creatinine, p=0.017) and MDA($4.21{\mu}g/g$ creatinine vs $3.18{\mu}g/g$ creatinine, p=0.017) of workers in post-shift samples were significantly higher than those of the pre-shift samples. There were significant correlations between the urinary 2,6-TDA, 2,4-TDA, and MDA of workers in post-shift samples and the airborne 2,6-TDI(rho=0.952, p<0.001), 2,4-TDI(rho=0.833, p=0.001), and MDI(rho=0.952, p<0.001). Conclusions: These urinary diamines, metabolites of diisocyanates, in post-shift samples were useful biomarkers to assess occupational exposure to diisocyanates.

  • The destructive method is reliable and widely used lot the estimation of material degradation but, it have time-consuming and a great difficulty in preparing specimens from in-service industrial facilities. Therefore, the estimation of degraded structural materials used at high temperature by nondestructive evaluation such as electric resistance method, replica method, Barkhausen noise method, electro-chemical method and ultrasonic method are strongly desired. Ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation technique has been reported good to attain efficiency of measurement, high sensitivity of measurement, and rapidity and reliability of result interpretation. In this study, it was verified experimentally the feasibility of the evaluation of degraded 2.25Cr-1Mo steel specimens which were prepared by the isothermal aging heat treatment at $630^{\circ}C$ by high frequency longitudinal wave method investigating the change of attenuation coefficient by FFT analysis and wavelet transform. Because of carbide precipitation increase and spheroidization near grain boundary of microstructure to aging degradation, attenuation coefficient had a tendency to increase as degradation proceeded. It was identified possibly to evaluate degradation using the characteristics of high-frequency ultrasonics. Frequency dependence of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient to aging degradation appeared large, which made sure that attenuation coefficient is an important parameter for evaluation of aging degradation.

  • Wire ropes are used in a myriad of various industrial applications such as elevator, mine hoist, construction machinery, lift, and suspension bridge. Especially, the wire rope of crane is important component to container transfer. If it happens wire rope failures during the operation, it may lead to safety accident, economic loss by productivity decline and so on. To solve this problem, we developed remote wire rope fault detecting system, and this system is consisted of 3 parts that portable fault detecting part, signal processing part and remote monitoring part. All detected signal has external noise or disturbance according to circumstances. So, we applied to discrete wavelet transform to extract a signal from noisy data. It is verified that the detecting system by de-noising has good efficiency for inspecting faults of wire ropes in service. As a result, by developing this system, container terminal could reduce expense because of extension fo wire ropes exchange period and could competitive power. Also, this system is possible to apply in several field such as elevator, lift and so on.

  • We have manufactured and evaluated reference samples for the use of low magnetic moment measurements. Before the measurements, SQUID magnetometers were magnetically shielded from external magnetic noise. We considered the purity including magnetic impurities, the optimum thickness, the modification method, and the shape in the preparation of the samples. Three paramagnetic polycrystaline metal plates of Ti, W, and Al with the area of $4mm{\times}6mm$ were prepared finally. The magnetic moments of these three samples are measured very linear up to the field of 5 T without magnetic hysteresis. The temperature deviated ratios of the magnetic moments for Ti, Al, and W from 290 K to 310 K are 0.7, 1.5, and 0.1 %, respectively. The measured magnetic moments for Ti and W samples by our research team are very well agreeable with those by two SQUID magnetometers and a VSM at Quantum Design via international round robin test. The results suggest that the prepared reference samples are well suited for the use in the low magnetic moment measurement with SQUID based magnetometers.
