  • Tolerance design has been identified as an important research area and a number of models have been proposed in the literature. This paper investigates the effect of limited capacity on tolerance design for products with nominal-the-best type (N-type) quality characteristics. The model is developed under the assumption that the reprocessed and nonreprocessed items are produced by the same manufacturing process and therefore their quality characteristics are identically and independently distributed. Profit models are constructed which involve four price/cost components; selling price, cost incurred by imperfect quality, reprocessing and quality inspection costs. Methods of finding the optimal tolerance limits are presented, and a numerical example is given. Sensitivity analyses are also performed to study the effect of a process standard deviation on this model.

  • Industrial Agitators are used in various industrial fields where they are necessary to intimately mix two reactants in a short period of time. However, despite their widespread use, complex unsteady flow characteristics of industrial mixers are not systematically investigated. The present study aims for clarify unsteady flow characteristics induced by various impellers in agitator's tank. Impellers are Pitched blade turbine(PBT) types, Screw type and Rushton turbine type(RUT). In this study is numerical analysis of the Industrial agitator's Impeller types. The rotating speed of impellers fixed about 100RPM. Numerical analysis results show that differential flow characteristics of each type Impeller and Rushton turbine type(RUT) is suitable for mixing powder.

우편 물류 정보화 목표 시스템 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on a To-Be System Design for the Operational Information System of Postal Service)

  • As facing the challenges from many competitors, the Office of Korea Postal Service has issued the fundamental plan of business renovation which includes the master plan of the information systems. In this paper we discuss the design of a to-be information system for postal service, which will be provided for the completion of the master plan. After briefly discussing the issues on developing information system and the current situation, we provide the design concept and the framework of the to-be system based on the bench marking and gap analysis with advanced systems. The to-be system consists of eight subsystems which can be grouped into three categories; intelligent systems, operational systems, and platforms. We develop detailed specification of each subsystem and provide an operational scenario. We also explain how the to-be system compatibly fits into an integrated information system, which will include the postal, banking, and management functions, to perform its ultimate role for the efficient postal service.

통신망 최적화 연구 동향 (Telecommunication Network Optimization Current Status and Challenges)

  • This paper gives reviews on current research status in telecommunication network design. Two problems are identified as major research issues. One is the WDM network design problem, where traffic grooming, virtual topology design and routing and wavelength assignment problems are considered. The other is the OSPF weight setting problem which was proposed as a practical method to implement traffic engineering capability in IP networks. After presenting surveys on those problems, we discuss potential challenging research issues in telecommunication network design.

  • This paper describes an automatic parts design system for gears, brake, and clutch. These parts are important components of the power transmission assembly. In conventional design process, the design of power transmission requires a number of recurrent calculations and drawings. In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional automatic design system that reduces the number of recurrent calculations and drawings. The system consists of three modules for designing gear, brake, and clutch. The proposed system has been applied to develop a transmission of forklift truck and shown to be a useful system.

  • The design technique of turbo pumps has been developed due to an increasing demand from related industrial fields. But infant stage of turbomachinery in the domestic industry needs more fundamental design method. Among various types of pumps, centrifugal pump was chosen because of its wide industrial application. It is difficult to decide the correct specification of centrifugal impeller, because of its complex flow analysis at the inlet, passage and outlet. This study is limited on the impeller blade design and its related performance analysis.

  • With the increasing complexity of man-made systems, computer simulation has become a widely used tool for the design and analysis of complex system. When computer simulation is used for the purpose of system design, the analysts want to develop strategies to achieve some pre-defined target condition for an output of interest while simultaneously minimizing its variance. The goal of this research is to develop and demonstrate a new method for the design of robust systems with multiple responses using the fuzzy satisfaction function and computer simulation experiments.

  • The purpose of this paper is to design the menu of mobile phone based on the impression engineering. Free response survey analysis was used to collect impression data on mobile phone functions with time interval. Simultaneity analysis was applied to finding the relationship among selected impression. We cluster a set of the related impression so as to design the menu of a mobile phone accordingly. This research is expected to contribute to the improvement of customer satisfaction by reflecting customer's impression in the process of product design.
