  • To design a spiral inductor a genetic algorithm is applied with fast computing technique. For the inductance extraction of the given geometry the fast multipole method is used, also the distributed computing technique using 10 personal computers is introduced for the massive computation of the genetic algorithm. A few important design parameters are used as genes for the optimization in the genetic algorithm. The target function is chosen as mean square error of the inductance at several sampling frequency points. A large-scaled inductor is fabricated and compared with the simulated data.

  • In this paper, the equivalent circuit for the efficiency calculation by precise estimation of the linkage flux, inductance and iron loss resistance was calculated accurately. In addition, the driving characteristics according to the current phase angle are analyzed and the maximum efficiency point is calculated. And then, analyzed and experimental values of the efficiency were compared. So, causes of error were expected to be vibration and noise by harmonic distortion of the voltage and current, and mechanical loss of dynamometer. In addition, the driving characteristics according to the current phase angle are analyzed and the maximum efficiency point is calculated.

  • This topic presents an inductor short turn testing. From the rudimentary principles, the quality factor(Q) decreases due to inductor short turn. Frequency response varies because of the variation of circuit inductance and resistance. In general, short turn circuit testing is performed by comparing the ratio of an inductance and resistance of inductor in that particular circuit. An alternative method can be done by considering the response of second order circuit which can give both dynamic and static testing, whereas static testing give an error results not more than 2 turns. For dynamic testing, the result is more accurate, which can test fur the short turn number form 1 turn onward.

  • This thesis describes an observer of Switched Reluctance Motor for position. velocity and torque estimation using current sening. Inductance of SRM varies trapezoidally with respect to the rotor position. This means that the inductance of each phase is a periodic function with the same period. Under this condition. the observer with a constant gain can be developed though SRM has nonlinear characteristics. Because SRM has equivalent physical meaning with each period. The stability of error system which is the difference between actual system and observer system. is analyzed using Lyapunov and variable structure theory. The effectiveness of the proposed estimation is shown by various simulation.

  • Recently, the use of IPMSM is coming to be active, in many industrial applications. In sensorless drive of IPMSM, it is important to know the exact information of the initial rotor position, because the wrong estimation of the initial rotor position brings about the decrease of the starting torque, or a temporary reverse revolution, In addition, PMSM is necessary to use the accurate information of the inductance for the precise torque control owing to the reluctance torque. In this paper presents initial rotor position estimation method and, measure method of the each-axis inductance. And to minimize the speed estimations error, the estimated speeds are compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power in synchronously rotating reference frame.

  • Classically, reluctance torque of IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) by using inductance according to current phase angle generates an error. This error is affected by total torque. From current phase angle $0^{\circ}$ to large errors will occur, because reluctance torque include current phase angle. But, reluctance torque from steady-state voltage equation of IPMSM is represented by linkage flux. So, reluctance torque is unrelated to the current phase angle formula can be derived. In this paper, operating torque was analyzed by d, q-axis linkage flux of IPMSM and reluctance torque to perform calculations reduced the error of the total torque calculation.

  • Existing error compensation method of industrial electronic absolute displacement detector only depends on skilled engineers. This paper proposes a new table method in order to automatize error compensation. An waveform changes according to the parallel resistance for each pole were tabularized and four waveforms were superimposed to minimize total phase error. These process was verified using simulink. As a result of applying proposed method to the real sensor, peak to peak error was reduced from $3.428^{\circ}$ to $0.879^{\circ}$. In this case, compensation resistance is $4.7k\Omega$ in B pole and $20k\Omega$ in C pole. This compensation rate is comparable to skilled engineers, and it takes 0.8 second which is far shorter than 15 minutes when expert does.

  • Sensorless brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive systems are often subjected to inaccurate commutation signals and can produce high current peaks and conduction consumption. To achieve accurate commutation, a fast commutation shift regulation method for sensorless BLDC motor drive systems considering the influence of the inductance freewheeling process is presented to compensate inaccurate commutation signals. The regulation method is effective in both steady speed and variable speed operations. In the proposed method, the commutation error is gained from the line-voltage difference integral in a 60 electrical-degree conduction period and the outgoing phase current before commutation. In addition, the detection precision of the commutation error is improved due to the consideration of the freewheeling period. The commutation error is directly obtained, which avoids successive optimization and accelerates the convergence rate of the proposed method. Moreover, the commutation error features a positive or negative sign, which can be utilized as an indicator of advanced or delayed commutation. Finally, experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. The results obtained show that the proposed method can accurately regulate commutation signals.

  • In this study, modeling of the CD stud welding system was conducted considering mechanical and electrical components. The electrical components such as arc resistance, cable resistance, capacitance, internal resistance and cable inductance were found to affect the output waveform significantly. The calculated results showed food agreements with the experiment results within 20% error. The main defect of CD stud welding with 1010 steel stud and SS400 steel plate was the void trapped between stud and base metal. The effect of the spring force and stud tip size on void formation was investigated.
