  • A voice-coil-type LOA consists of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular structure, and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. When applying a voice-coil-type LOA to the control system, we have to obtain the control parameters and circuit parameters, such as mass, coil inductance, coil resistance, thrust voltage & stroke, frequency & stroke and so on. Therefore, these parameter were determined from the analytical and experimental method.

  • The plunger speed of solenoid actuator is affected by mass of plunger, magnetic motive force, inductance, and return spring. These factors are not independent but related with each other according to design characteristics of solenoid actuator. So, it is impossible to change the designed value for the purpose of increasing plunger speed. In this study, we have analyzed the characteristics of high-speed solenoid actuator having a non-magnetic ring which plays a role to concentrate the effective magnetic flux into plunger. For more detailed analysis, we have induced characteristic equations and performed FEM analysis and simulation for dynamic characteristics of plunger, and proved the propriety of these by experiments.

  • The characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous motor are defined by airgap flux and circuit parameters. Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) has a nonlinear characteristics due to structural speciality of rotor, so it is difficult to analyze circuit parameters and field-weakening characteristics of IPMSM. This paper presents the calculation of circuit parameters by using Finite Element Method(FEM) taken into consideration of nonlinear characteristics. Using the circuit parameters by FEM, IPMSM is analyzed to field-weakening characteristics and is compared with the Equivalent Magnetic Circuit(EMC) in which lumped parameter is consideration.

  • This paper describes a design concept of NPC1 power stack for 1500VDC megawatt level solar inverter. This stack uses three latest half-bridge IGBT modules with highest power density and operation junction temperature, which enable realization of power level beyond 1MW without paralleling. Critical design concept on loop inductance is explained. Dynamic characteristics are verified by double-pulse test. Thermal characteristics and output power limits are verified by thermal test. Temperature-sensitive component on PCB as output power constraint is identified. Different PCB repositioning solutions are tested to give the overall output power thermal derating curves, which enable output power of 1.15MW at $T_A=55^{\circ}C$ with $15^{\circ}C$ thermal margin. The power stack characteristic and performance change under different thermal environment is further analyzed.

  • This paper presents drive analysis of slotless air-cored PM linear synchronous motor using two-dimensional analytical method. In order to calculate dynamic characteristic, back-EMF and linkage flux are calculated by Permanent Magnet Field and also inductance are given by slotless winding current coil. PMLSM drive simulation is performed by PI control system.

  • Solenoid actuator's operating speed is affected by magnetic motive force, plunger mass, inductance, return spring constant, and eddy current. Recently, non-magnetic ring is generally used for improving the operational speed, because it is impossible that changing of any specified design factor and stacking of plunger steel. This paper represents the dynamic equations of solenoid actuator, simulations for the response characteristics, analysis of eddy current effect by using the induced time constant. And, we experiment for the operating characteristics in case of non-magnetic ring is exists and not exists in the plunger.

  • In this paper, a novel bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM) with double stator is proposed. This motor has two stators. Torque stator is outside, which mainly produces rotational torque. Radial force stator is inside, which mainly generates radial force to suspend the rotor. A novel structure and operating principle are presented. And characteristics of the proposed structure such as magnetic flux distribution, inductance, torque and radial force are analyzed through finite element method. From the analysis, the proposed BLSRM has linear characteristic of radial force and independence from torque current.

  • In this paper, inductive coupled LC balun has been desi gned and simulated for embedding into an organic packaging substrate. Inductive coupling method was applied to obtain wide band characteristics, and high dielectric film was utilized to reduce a size of the balun. The proposed balun has a novel scheme which consists of three embedded LC resonators with inductive coupling. This proposed balun has relatively small inductance and capacitance values which can be easily embedded into the organic packaging substrate. Furthermore, it has a good phase imbalance characteristic. The simulated results of proposed balun are an insertion loss of 1.2 dB, a return loss of 10 dB, a phase imbalance of 1 degree at frequency bandwidth of 750 MHz ranged from 1.8 GHz to 2.55 GHz, respectively. This balun has an area of $2mm{\tims}3.5mm{\times}0.66mm$ (height).

  • As the system with current is heat generation system, it has to be analyzed to consider effect in virtue of temperature. Hence this paper examined the solution of the coupled thermalelectro-mechanical problem. Mechanical modeling, force computation, electromagnetic field solution, and heat transfer modeling are addressed. It accomplished electro-mechanical coupled system analysis considering a temperature, the analysis method is by using extracted circuit parameters with resistivity by heat transfer analysis and inductance by electromagnetic analysis.

  • In this paper, the influence of electrical parameters such as the turn-on and turn-off angle on the torque and force characteristics is investigated for the reduction of the torque ripple which is main source of vibration and noise in switched reluctance motor (SRM). The four different types of the turn-on angle are set to the section of rising inductance profile respectively. The optimum turn-on angle is proposed for the acquisition of the flat current shape minimizing the torque ripple. 2D finite element method (FEM) considering the iron saturation and the actual switching circuit of the SRM drive is applied for the dynamic analysis. The simulation results of phase current and torque are also compared to the experimental results.
