Performance Evaluation of Coordinated Multi-Point Transmission and Reception in Indoor Mobile Communication Systems

  • Recently, mobile communication systems are suffering from exponentially increasing data traffic. As a promising solution to the increase in data traffic, a coordinated multi-point transmission and reception (CoMP) scheme has been proposed. Although a great deal of research has been done on this new technology, the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP has not been evaluated properly in a typical indoor environment. To address this, we have developed a system-level simulator and evaluated the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP. Unlike previous works, we have used an actual antenna pattern in our simulator and link-level results are properly taken into account through link-level abstraction. By using a system-level simulator, we have evaluated the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP in an indoor environment and found that unlike an outdoor cellular environment, CoMP may not improve the performance of overall mobile communication systems in an indoor environment.

  • Visible light communication (VLC) using LED lamps is suitable for implementing an indoor positioning system in an indoor environment where the global positioning system (GPS) signal does not reach. In this paper, we present an indoor positioning system for mobile robots using a VLC beacon and fuzzy rules. This system consists of an autonomous mobile robot, VLC modules, and device application software. Fuzzy rules are applied to plan the global and local paths along which the mobile robot navigates indoors. The VLC transmitter modules are attached to the wall or the ceiling as beacons to transmit their own location information. The variable pulse position modulation (VPPM) algorithm is used to transmit data, which is a new modulation scheme for VLC providing a dimming control mechanism for flicker-free optical communication. The mobile robot has a receiver module to receive the location information while performing its mission in the environment where VLC transmitters are deployed.

  • Commercial WiBro and 3G HSDPA services are launched last year in order to provide high speed wireless Internet access and multimedia service. Currently mobile communication service providers concentrate on the deployment of indoor mobile network since indoor traffic is remarkably increased. For fine indoor wireless communication, an installation of access point system via Public IP network which is called Femtocell is required. The development of indoor Femtocell system must be considered in the viewpoint of low hardware complexity, cost reduction, interlocking with WiBro/HSDPA network without change of network component and easy element management. In this paper, we review the implementation issue and technology of dual mode AP which provides WiBro and HSDPA signal to the user simultaneously. Especially, we describe on the HSDPA Femtocell standardization status and possible 3 types of HSDPA communication module development design. Furthermore we analyze the merits and demerits of each HSDPA Femtocell design type and propose a system which enables handover between indoor HSDPA Femtocell and outdoor commercial HSDPA mobile network.

  • Recently, users who are interested in the service at indoor spaces is increasing. An indoor positioning system can minimize a range of positioning error using a variety of wireless communication infrastructure. Also, the system improves an indoor positioning accuracy by combining a mobile communication network. However, flexible positioning technologies regardless of an environment are insufficient. Therefore, this is time for a systematic study on an indoor positioning system business model. This paper classify differences between an indoor positioning system technology and outdoor positioning system technology. And we research a construction and application of the indoor positioning system that is adapted a wireless communication system (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, UWE, Fingerprint, etc.) in domestic and foreign. We present a successful model of indoor positioning system and the development for future systems.

  • Recently, people are paying huge attention to problems caused by indoor air pollution. Also, the need for the system that monitors environmental information for indoor and warns a danger is growing increasingly. In this regard, we designed and implemented environment monitoring system for indoor. In this paper, we describe the system with hardware elements and it's communication method. In order to transfer the data from environment sensors, we use short-range wireless communication in smart phone. The proposed system is possible to know the indoor environment information in installed sensor node. If the risk is found, For the proposed system, there is an advantage that may be appropriate evacuation.

  • In this paper, Indoor Positioning System based on Wi-Fi system which is one of the key technology in LBS(Location Based Service) is proposed. The proposed system estimates distance between MS(Mobile Station) and AP(Access Point) using RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator). RSSI is affected by outlier that originate from indoor environment complexity and obstacle. In this paper, we introduce a Robust outlier Extended Kalman Filter that can ignore, real-time outlier in the observations. To demonstrate performance of proposed indoor positioning system, we used a PDA as the MS.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provider an indoor location measuring method, apparatus and Service available for mobile wireless network. This paper introduces positioning technology such as Basic Technology Element and QoS(Quality of Service) etc. of WPS(WiFi Positioning System) for mobile wireless network. An apparatus for sectionalizing an indoor area for indoor location measurement includes several steps.   • Recently, various solutions to support explosively growing mobile data traffic have attracted intensive attentions. However, the range of spectrum which can be exploited for mobile communications is very limited. Small cell networks are actively investigated because they can efficiently offload mobile data traffic from macro cells without using additional spectrum. In this paper, we developed a system-level simulator considering small cell networks in the indoor environments. We compare the performance of outage probability when a load-balancing algorithm is utilized or not. We can reduce the outage probability of congested BS with the load-balancing algorithm. In addition, overall outage probability of whole wireless systems can be reduced by using the proposed load-balancing algorithm.

  • With the rapid development of information technology, people's demands on precise indoor positioning are increasing. Wireless sensor network, as the most commonly used indoor positioning sensor, performs a vital part for precise indoor positioning. However, in indoor positioning, obstacles and other uncontrollable factors make the localization precision not very accurate. Ultra-wide band (UWB) can achieve high precision centimeter-level positioning capability. Inertial navigation system (INS), which is a totally independent system of guidance, has high positioning accuracy. The combination of UWB and INS can not only decrease the impact of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) on localization, but also solve the accumulated error problem of inertial navigation system. In the paper, a fused UWB and INS positioning method is presented. The UWB data is firstly clustered using the Fuzzy C-means (FCM). And the Z hypothesis testing is proposed to determine whether there is a NLOS distance on a link where a beacon node is located. If there is, then the beacon node is removed, and conversely used to localize the mobile node using Least Squares localization. When the number of remaining beacon nodes is less than three, a robust extended Kalman filter with M-estimation would be utilized for localizing mobile nodes. The UWB is merged with the INS data by using the extended Kalman filter to acquire the final location estimate. Simulation and experimental results indicate that the proposed method has superior localization precision in comparison with the current algorithms.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method of improving the location estimation error existing in RTLS (Real Time Location Service) system for the mobility individual. According as Ubiquitous comes, interest for indoor location tracking system was more increased socially. However, existing indoor location tracking system doesn't correspond actively in frequent change of indoor environment, and there is a problem that correct location measurement of transfer object is difficult by NLOS property of indoor environment. Purpose of this paper proposes environment accommodation location tracking system that is improved location precision of transfer object and grasps location of indoor transfer object effectively that is essential element effectively to provide service to satisfy various user's request according as Ubiquitous comes.
