  • This study verified the effectiveness of authentic leadership in promoting coopetition with the mediation of positive psychological capital and identified how this mediating effect of positive psychological capital is moderated by performance-based rewards Our findings showed that positive psychological capital played the role of mediator (indirect effect) between authentic leadership and coopetition. Also, performance-based rewards had negative conditional direct effect on the relationship between authentic leadership and coopetition as well as a positive mediated moderation (conditional indirect effect) when the relationship is mediated by positive psychological capital. This research presents a novel empirical study on the mechanism involved in the promotion of coopetition among organization members, especially concerning the antecendents involved at the individual level.

  • Recently, organizations are increasing their investment to protect information resources from information security(IS) threats through the adoption of IS policies and technologies. However, IS incidents occur in a variety of ways, such as intrusions from outside the organization and exposure to the inside. Our study presented the negative effects of IS role stress on organizational insiders and suggested factors from the organizational and individual perspectives for mitigating IS role stress. We conducted a survey on employees of companies that introduced and applied IS policies to their work and tested the hypothesis using 329 samples. As a result, IS organization justice reduced IS role stress and strengthened IS positive psychological capital, thereby affecting the IS compliance intention of employees. • This study is an empirical study analyzing the effects of positive psychological capital on job burnout. In addition, positive psychological capital played a role in organizational citizenship behavior, and tried to verify the role of organizational citizenship behavior as a black box, or parameter, between job burnout. And then, the sub-factors of organizational citizenship behavior were divided into two: individual-oriented organizational citizenship behavior and organization-oriented organizational citizenship behavior. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted for members of small and medium-sized enterprises to compare and analyze the relationship between variables. Positive psychological capital is increasing interest in that it can reduce the job burnout of members and embrace the propensity of young generations represented by millennials because it can improve the effectiveness by developing positive mental states and strengths of the organization. There is a need for research as a keyword. As a result of this study, first, it was found that positive psychological capital of SME(small and medium-sized enterprises) members had a positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Second, positive psychological capital was found to have a significant negative effect on job burnout. Third, it was a verification of how positive psychological capital and organizational citizenship behavior affect job burnout. In the relationship between positive psychological capital and job burnout, organization-oriented organizational citizenship behavior was found to play a mediating role. However, it was found that individual-oriented organizational citizenship behaviors among the organizational citizenship behaviors are not valid. In this study, positive psychological capital and job burnout, which have been mainly studied in service workers' emotional workers(crew, nurses, counselors, etc.), nursery teachers, and social workers, were applied to SME members by using the parameters of organizational citizenship behavior. You can put that implication on things. The positive psychological capital and organizational citizenship behavior can be further enhanced through SME members' love for the company, improvement of consideration among employees and resulting organizational commitment and work performance. It could also provide momentum for sustainable management for small and medium-sized enterprises that are relatively short of capital and resources.

  • This study was conducted to verify the effects of individual psychological capital, spousal support, and organization's family-friendly work culture on work-life balance in social workers. For this purpose, married social workers working in social welfare facilities in Chungcheongbuk-do were surveyed, and 331 collected responses were used in the analysis. Multiple regression analysis revealed that resilience and optimism in individual psychological capital, spousal support, and expectations on working hours in organizations' family-friendly work culture were significantly associated with the work-life balance. In addition, there were different factors influencing the level of work-life balance according to gender and age. The findings suggest that efforts to enhance awareness and improve working conditions, such as the development of self-care program, education on the necessity of work-life balance, and implementation of work-life balancing system, are needed to improve the work-life balance of social workers.

  • Background: Seafaring is an inherently stressful environment. Because working time and leisure time is spent in the same confined environment for a prolonged period of time, many stressors present in seafaring can also be conceived of as chronic. We explored the effects of duration at sea, seafaring experience, environmental stressors, and psychological capital (PsyCap) on the sleep quality and fatigue of seafarers. PsyCap is a construct that draws upon ideas from positive psychology and positive organizational behavior, and is intended to capture an individual's psychological capacities that can be developed and utilized for performance improvements. Methods: We collected survey data from a sample of seafarers working in the offshore re-supply industry (n = 402) and a sample of seafarers working on board combined passenger and cargo ships (n = 340). Results: PsyCap emerged as a robust predictor with statistically significant relations to fatigue and sleep quality in both samples. PsyCap also interacted with duration at sea in explaining fatigue in seafarers working on board the passenger and cargo ships. Seafarers on passenger and cargo ships also reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than those working in the offshore re-supply industry. Conclusion: Coupled with emerging research showing that PsyCap is trainable, our results suggest that maritime organizations could have much to gain by being cognizant of and developing routines for continually developing the PsyCap of their employees.

  • Death of a Salesman is centered on Willy Loman trying to achieve the American dream and taking his family along for the ride. This paper explores the meaning of his suicide in the work through the Adorno's theory on the individual's reification and commodity by an exchange value in the capitalism and argues that Bourdieu's capital classification shows the cause of his tragic decision. Reification refers to "the structural process whereby the commodity form permeates life in capitalist society." and Adorno called the reification of consciousness an epiphenomenon. The social-psychological level in Adorno's diagnosis serves to demonstrate the effectiveness and pervasiveness of late capitalist exploitation. According to Bourdieu, cultural capital can exist three forms: in the embodied state, in the objectifed state and in the instituionalized state. He states embodied capital is argued to be the most significant influence; however unlike other forms of capital (social, economic, etc.) obtaining embodied capital is largely out of the individuals' control as it is developed from birth. In conclusion, I suggest Death of a Salesman can be interpreted as a text criticizing the internalization of the subject, which is the result of the self-destructive mechanism of the subject in the logic of modern subject formation.
