  • In general, hiatal hernia is rare incidence among diaphragmatic hernia in Korea especially in pediatric group. Recently great interest in hiatal hernia has not led to common agreement concerning the pathophysiology, method of diagnosis, clinical picture, Indications, and type of treatment. At 1981 and 1983, two cases of congenital hiatal hernia [type I, III] were surgically treated, which surgical Intervention was modified Hill`s operation and gastropexy. Postoperatively, clinical and radiological examination were proved no regurgitation, no dysphagia and well passage of barium.

  • PegIntron is the pegylated form of human recombinant interferon alfa-2b (IFN${\alpha}$2b). IFN ${\alpha}$2b, known as Intron A, has been in approved clinical use since the 1980's for various cancer indications, and for the treatment of Hepatitis C. In the mid 1990's, several clinical investigators reported that combination therapy with ribavirin and Intron A dramatically increased the therapeutic efficacy for treatment of Hepatitis C.(omitted)

  • Hemodialysis is rarely used in neonates and infants due to the risk of major complications in the very young. Nevertheless, there are clinical situations where hemodialysis is needed and may be helpful in small children. Recently, new developments in specialized hemodialysis equipment and specifically trained personnel have made it possible to implement hemodialysis in neonates and infants. In this review, we will discuss hemodialysis for the treatment of small children with renal replacement therapy-requiring conditions, and consider indications, prescriptions, complications, and ethical issues.

  • It is difficult to detect such flaws as stress - corrosion cracking or corrosion wastage(loss of bolt diameter) in the threads. In many cases the critical size of a flaw is very small(1-2 mm order). This paper describes how it is possible to discriminate small flaw indications in threads using the time difference or thread signals(TDTS) by a signal-conditioning technique.

  • The synchondrosis between the dens and the body of axis normally fuses between 5 and 7 years of age. Until this age, synchondrosis fractures can occur in children. Most synchondrosis fractures are conventionally treated by external immobilization alone. We report a 10-year-old child with odontoid synchondrosis fracture who was treated by C1 lateral mass and C2 pars screw rod fixation with a successful outcome and discuss the possible reasons for occurrence of odontoid synchondrosis fracture in this older child as well as the indications for surgery in this condition.

  • The crystals of ${\beta}-and\;{\beta}'-(ET)_2ICl_2$ have a modified structure of organic superconductor ${\beta}(ET)_2I_3$. These salts possess strictly different physical properties : the ${\beta}$ phase is a metal but the ${\beta}'$ phase is a semiconductor. Our band electronic structure calculations show that the ${\beta}$ phase is somewhat anisotropic 2D metal and the ${\beta}'$ phase with the 1D character in electronic structure is magnetic insulating, in good agreement with experimental indications.

  • Robotic thymectomy has been adopted recently and has been shown to be safe and feasible in treating thymic tumors and myasthenia gravis. The surgical indications of robotic technology are expanding, with advantages including an excellent surgical view and sophisticated manipulation. Herein, we describe technical aspects, considerations, and outcomes of robotic thymectomy.

  • The accelerated growth of the internet and the enormous amount of data availability has become the primary reason for machine learning applications for data analysis and, more specifically, pattern recognition and decision making. In this paper, we focused on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter and collected the comments in order to apply neural networks to classify the projects based on the sentiments of backers. The power of customer reviews and sentiment analysis has motivated us to apply this technique in crowdfunding to find timely indications and identify suspicious activities and mitigate the risk of money loss.

  • Extraction socket preservation (ESP) is widely performed after tooth extraction for future implant placement. For successful outcome of implants after extractions, clinicians should be acquainted with the principles and indications of ESP. It is recommended that ESP be actively implemented in cases of esthetic areas, severe bone defects, and delayed implant placement. Dental implant placement is recommended at least 4 months after ESP.

  • Patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) may exhibit pulmonary fibrosis after the viral illness resolves. Some of these patients may experience severe functional lung impairment, and thus require transplants to prevent death or maintain a tolerable quality of life. Considering the reversibility of COVID-19 ARDS, lung transplant candidates are observed for 1-2 months and must be selected very carefully before transplantation. As the short-term outcomes of such patients are comparable to those of patients with other indications for transplantation, lung transplantation should be actively considered.
