In this study, using the Cost Prediction Model and Performance Prediction Model have developed a way to estimate future management costs and performance for bridge and tunnel by Network Level. Studies to date have primarily focused on the single facility, it is difficult to apply to the analysis of the Network Level. This study, items used as an index of 'Special Act for the Safety Control of Public Structures' was added to Usability and Functionality to Status. Action period and annual budget for each facility can be estimated through the Basic and Advanced analysis. In addition, we verified the technical feasibility through case analysis.
The importance of the life cycle cost (LCC) analysis for bridges has been recognized over the last decade. However, it is difficult to predict LCC precisely since the costs occurring throughout the service life of the bridge depend on various parameters such as design, construction, maintenance, and environmental conditions. This paper presents a methodology for the optimal life cycle cost design of a bridge. Total LCC for the service life is calculated as the sum of initial cost, damage cost, maintenance cost, repair and rehabilitation cost, user cost, and disposal cost. The optimization method is applied to design of a bridge structure with minimal cost, in which the objective function is set to LCC and constraints are formulated on the basis of Korean Bridge Design Code. Initial cost is calculated based on standard costs of the Korea Construction Price Index and damage cost on damage probabilities to consider the uncertainty of load and resistance. Repair and rehabilitation cost is determined using load carrying capacity curves and user cost includes traffic operation costs and time delay costs. The optimal life cycle cost design of a bridge is performed and the effects of parameters are investigated.
Purpose: Tunneling is a periodontal surgical procedure that creates access for patient cleansing and maintenance within the furcal area of a molar tooth with severe furcation involvement. Up to date, there are few studies about a long term clinical and radiographic stability of tunneling. The purpose of this retrospective study is to evaluate the long term prognosis after tunnel preparation of molars with through and through furcation. Material and Methods: 25 teeth of 23 patients aged 36 to 70 (mean age 51.7) were treated surgically with tunnel preparation. These cases were followed for 2 to 13 years (mean 6.5years) after surgery. Patients were recalled for an evaluation which was based on a questionnaire, a clinical examination, and radiographic analysis. Clinical assessment included plaque index, caries registration, probing pocket depth, bleeding on probing, tooth mobility. Baseline and over 2-year follow-up radiographs were collected and evaluated for this study. Result: 3 teeth(12%) had been extracted and 1 tooth(4%) hemisected. Root caries was detected in 3 teeth(12%). Thus 72% of the teeth were still caries tree and in function. Clinical parameters including PI, PD, BOP, mobility showed somewhat favourable results. Radiographic furcal bone loss showed no statistically significant difference compared to interproximal crestal bone loss ($3.59{\pm}1.69%$ vs $3.42{\pm}2.95%$) when root length was used as reference. There was no correlation between root trunk length and furcal bone loss. Conclusion: Over 2 years after tunneling procedure, teeth showed a clinically and radiographically stable condition, despite of slight root caries and alveolar bone loss within clinically acceptable range. The tunnel procedure may be considered as a viable periodontal treatment option for molar teeth with severe furcation involvement in individuals following a regular maintenance program.

A new index for the buckling strength of non-structured plates is proposed. The external work or the deformation energy caused by the external loads or the boundary displacement controled by a load parameter is calculated along an equilibrium path of the member under consideration. If the second variation of the energy with respect to the parameter loses its positiveness, it defined as the limit of the stability. In contrast to the current method given in codes where the stability limit is evaluated by using only representative internal forces, the evaluation of the stability limit is always consistent even with the change of the distribution of the internal forces on the boundary. If the elasticity is concerned, the result from this proposed approach becomes identical to that from the classical methods.

With the recent series of damage caused by earthquakes in Korea, such as Gyeongju and Pohang, we know that Korea is no longer a safe zone for earthquakes and that we need to be prepared for them. In addition, bridges built prior to the introduction of seismic design concepts remain without adequate seismic reinforcement measures, and earthquake reinforcement should be performed efficiently considering economic and structural safety. Preliminary assessment of seismic performance of existing bridges is divided into four seismic groups, taking into account seismicity, vulnerability and Impact, considering the magnitude of the existing bridge's seismic, and prioritization for further evaluation of seismic performance. In this study, unlike the existing anti-seismic reinforcement priority method, scores are calculated based on the seismic design criteria applied to bridges, importance coefficient of the bridge including the zone coefficient and the Importance, vulnerability index of the bridge including the soil condition and the elapsed years, detail coefficient of the bridge including the superstructure form, the span length, the width, the height, the design load, and the daily traffic volume. The calculated score items will be weighted and grouped according to the results. Using this, a simpler and more efficient algorithm was proposed to determine the priority of seismic reinforcement on a bridge.

A new algorithm for determining optimal accelerometer locations is proposed by using a frequency-domain Hankel matrix which is much simpler to construct than a time-domain Hankel matrix. The algorithm was examined through simulation studies by comparing the outcomes with those from other available methods. To compare and analyze the results from different methods, a dynamic analysis was carried out under seismic excitation and acceleration data were obtained at the selected optimal sensor locations. Vibrational amplitudes at the selected sensor locations were determined and those of all the other degrees of freedom were determined by using a spline function. MAC index of each method was calculated and compared to look at which method could determine more effective locations of accelerometers. The proposed frequency-domain Hankel matrix could determine reasonable selection of accelerometer locations compared with the others.

In this paper, a two-phase structural health monitoring system using acceleration response signatures are presented to firstly alarm the change in structural condition and to secondly detect the changed location for full-scale concrete girder bridges. Firstly, Mihocheon Bridge which is a two-span continuous concrete girder bridge is selected as the target structure. The dynamic response features of Mihocheon Bridge are extracted by forced vibration test using bowling ball. Secondly, the damage alarming occurrence and the damage localization techniques are selected to design two-phase structural health monitoring system for Mihocheon Bridge. As the damage alarming techniques, auto-regressive model using time-domain signatures, correlation coefficient of frequency response function and frequency response ratio assurance criterion are selected. As the damage localization technique, modal strain energy-based damage index method is selected. Finally, the feasibility of two-phase structural health monitoring systems is evaluated from static loading tests using a dump truck.

We have been measuring $CH_4$ flux in a rice paddy in Gimje using the eddy covariance method since July 2011. In order to measure the fast fluctuations of $CH_4$ concentration, an innovative LI-7700 open-path laser spectrometer is used. This high-precision, low power, light weight, low maintenance sensor enables us to operate it on a continuous and long-term basis. One particular feature, among other things, is the self-cleaning lower mirror which decreases maintenance requirements while ensuring more robust, continuous, high-quality dataset. Its cleaning is initiated at user-specified time intervals or a signal strength threshold, and its status is recorded as a diagnostic index. We have noticed that the operation of LI-7700 at Gimje site is quite challenging particularly due to its frequent mirror cleaning requirement and the associated sensitivity of the instrument. In this presentation, we present some field observation data regarding the mirror cleaning and their analysis, thereby suggesting the pertinent operation options for high-quality, maximum data retrieval in the field.
Using cross-ties to connect cables together when forming a cable network is regarded as an efficient method of mitigating cable vibrations. Cross-ties have been extended and fixed on bridge decks or towers in some engineering applications. However, the dynamics of this kind of system need to be further studied, and the effects of extending cross-links to bridge decks/towers on the modal response of the system should be assessed in detail. In this paper, a system of two cables connected by an inter-supported cross-link with another lower cross-link extended to the ground is proposed and analyzed. The characteristic equation of the system is derived, and some limiting solutions in closed form of the system are derived. Roots of cable system with special configurations are also discussed, attention being given to the case when the two cables are identical. A predictable mode behavior was found when the stiffness of inter-connection cross-link and the cross-link extended to the ground were the same. The vector of mode energy distribution and the degree of mode localization index are proposed so as to distinguish global and local modes. The change of mode behaviors is further discussed in the case when the two cables are not identical. Effects of cross-link stiffness, cross-link location, mass-tension ratio, cable length ratio and frequency ratio on $1^{st}$ mode frequency and mode shape are addressed.

In this paper, the effect of corrosion level and crack width on the cohesive strength-slip behavior of corroded steel rebar and concrete interface is conducted. The existing studies mainly focus on the decrease in bond strength with respect to the level of corrosion; there are, however, few studies on the decrease in cohesive strength according to the crack width of the concrete surface due to corrosion. Therefore, in this study, a series of tests for the cohesive strength, slip behavior and mass loss of the reinforcing bar is evaluated at the surface of corroded rebar and concrete. It is found that the tendency to decrease the bond strength is closely related to the crack width rather than the corrosion level. Hence, to determine the degradation performance for the bond strength-slip behavior relation, the occurrence of cracks on the concrete surface can be a suitable index.
