The maximal column rank of an m by n matrix A over max algebra is the maximal number of the columns of A which are linearly independent. We compare the maximal column rank with rank of matrices over max algebra. We also characterize the linear operators which preserve the maximal column rank of matrices over max algebra.

Computational procedure within the framework of return mapping technique has been presented to integrate the constitutive behavior of a concrete model. Developed by Ohtani and Chen, this concrete model is based on multiple hardening concept, and is rate-independent and associative. Consistent tangent operator suitable for finite element analysis is derived to preserve the rate of convergence. Accuracy of the integration technique is verified and compared with available experimental data. Computational efficiency is demonstrated by comparing with results based on elasto-plastic tangent.

A class of singular quadratic control problem is considered. The state is governed by a higher order system of ordinary linear differential equations and very general nonstandard boundary conditions. These conditions in many important cases reduce to standard boundary conditions and because of the conditions the usual controllability condition is not needed. In the special case where the coefficient matrix of the control variable in the cost functional is a time-independent singular matrix, the corresponding optimal control law as well as the optimal controller are computed. The method of investigation is based on the theory of least-squares solutions of multi-valued operator equations.

The renewable energies such as photovoltaic power, wind power and biomass have grown to a greater extent as decarbonization techniques. The renewable energies are interconnected to power systems (or electrical grids) in order to increase benefits from economies of scale, and the extra attention is focused on the Grid Code. A grid code defines technical parameters that power plants must meet to ensure functions of power systems, and the grid code determined by considering power system characteristics is various across the country. Some TSO (Transmission System Operator) and ISO (Independent System Operator) have issued grid code for wind power and the special requirements for offshore wind farm. The main purpose of the above grid code is that wind farm in power systems has to act as the existing power plants. Therefore wind farm developer and wind turbine manufacturer have great difficulty in grasping and meeting grid code requirements. This paper presents the basic understanding for grid codes of developed countries in the wind power and trends of those technical requirements. Moreover, in grid code viewpoint, the active power control of wind power is also discussed in details.

최근 인터벤션의 중요성이 증가한 만큼 시술을 수행하는 의료진의 건강에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 기존의 방사선 차폐 기구는 시술자의 동선을 제한하고 감염의 위험으로 인해 적절하게 사용되지 못했으며 시술자의 생식선과 나아가 시술실 전체 영역의 적절한 방사선 차폐가 이루어지지 못했다. 시술 시 사용되는 팔꿈치 지지대에 차폐체(bismuth)를 부착하여 보조 차폐 기구를 제작하였고 방사선 차폐 효과를 측정하였다. 측정 결과, 평균 공간 선량률이 약 64.8% 감소하였으며 독립표본 T검정 분석 결과 유의확률 이하(p<0.05)로 통계학적으로 유의미하게 나타났다. 보조 차폐 기구의 사용은 시술자의 생식선 차폐 및 시술실 전체 영역의 방사선 공간 선량률을 감소시킬 수 있는 효과적인 차폐 방법으로 사료된다.

선박의 대형화 및 해상사업의 기업화 등에 따라 해상운송에 있어 화물의 하역, 보관 등의 전문적인 부분을 담당하고 있는 항만하역업자, 항만터미널운영자, 창고업자 등 독립계약자의 역할은 점점 증대되어 가고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 국제해상운송은 해상운송인과 화주를 중심으로 체결한 운송계약을 중심으로 이루어져 왔으므로, 영국 보통법상의 직접계약관계의 원칙에 의해 계약당사자가 아닌 자는 계약상의 이익을 원용할 수 없다는 입장을 유지하여 왔다. 이에 대해 이를 완화하고자 하는 다양한 방안이 적용되고 있으며, '히말라야약관'도 그러한 방안중의 하나이다. 본 논문은 최근 대법원판결을 통해 우리나라 법원의 히말라야약관의 유효성 인정에 대한 내용을 재검토하고 독립계약자, 특히 항만터미널운영자의 운송계약상 제3자의 권리인정에 관한 문제에 대한 각국의 경향에 대해 살펴본다.

The yeast three-hybrid system (Y3H), a powerful method for identifying RNA-binding proteins, still suffers from many false positives, due mostly to RNA-independent interactions. In this study, we attempted to efficiently identify false positives by introducing a tetracycline operator (tetO) motif into the RPR1 promoter of an RNA hybrid expression vector. We successfully developed a tight tetracycline-regulatable RPR1 promoter variant containing a single tetO motif between the transcription start site and the A-box sequence of the RPR1 promoter. Expression from this tetracycline-regulatable RPR1 promoter in the presence of tetracycline-response transcription activator (tTA) was positively controlled by doxycycline (Dox), a derivative of tetracycline. This on-off control runs opposite to the general knowledge that Dox negatively regulates tTA. This positively controlled RPR1 promoter system can therefore efficiently eliminate RNA-independent false positives commonly observed in the Y3H system by directly monitoring RNA hybrid expression.

In this study, the effect of parameter and modal filter errors on the vibration control characteristics of flexible structures is analyzed for IMSC ( Independent Modal Space Control). If the control force is designed on the basis of the mathematical model with the parameter and modal filter errors, the closed-loop performance of the vibration control system will be degraded depending on the magnitude of the errors. An asymptotic stability condition of the system with parameter and modal filter errors has more significant effect on the stability condition of the system with parameter and modal filter errors has been drived using Lyapunov approach. It has been found that modal filter error has more significant effect on the stability of closed-loop system than parameter error does. The extent of the response deviation of the closed-loop system is also derived and evaluated using operator thchniques.

A Korean adverb '거의(geoui)' modifies predicates to generate complex predicates which have meanings of 'nearly' complete or typical properties of the modified predicates in quantities, degrees, and frequencies. The modified predicates 'complete' or 'typical' properties are referred counterfactually as standards for the generated predicates' meanings of deficiencies. These counterfactual standards can be formalized by a counterfactual conditional operator of the intensional semantics in Cresswell(1990). The deficiencies in the quantities, degrees, or frequencies of the properties can be expressed formally introducing a world-independent measure of comparison. The measure can be manufactured out of relations between intensional things at indices and their equivalence classes. The world-independent measure of comparison has a semantic structure under-specified in quantity, degree, and frequency, and seems very well-suited in describing lexical meaning of '거의(geoui)'. The lexical-semantic analysis of '거의(geoui)' shows explicitly the plausibility of the indispensable existence of the comparing measure which works across real and counterfactual worlds in natural language meaning. On the other hand, we examined Kim, young-hee(1985)'s proposal of a transition of quantificational meaning for Korean degree adverbs, where he tried to explain the quantificational meaning of Korean degree adverbs in general including '거의(geoui)' with several syntactic and semantic constraints of 'contextual deletion'. But it is shown that the quantificational meanings of the degree adverbs which Kim(1985) discussed are also explained better by their under-specified meanings in quantities, frequencies and degrees with the world-independent measure of comparison applied to their paradigmatic lexical constraint rather than Kim(1985)'s transition of meaning.
