Polarization-independent and wavelength-insensitive digital optical switch with electro-optic polymer rib waveguides (전기광학 폴리머 립 광도파로를 이용한 편광과 파장에 무관하게 동작하는 디지탈 광스위치)

  • An electro-optic polymer digital optical switch with rib waveguides is designed and fabricated by using the RIE method. POlarization-independent and wavelength-insensitive operation is demonstrated at the wavelengths of 1.3mm and 1.55mm, for the first time in electro-optic polymer-based devices. The rib waveguides have been designed to achieve good guiding properites for both TE and TM polarizations by controlling the etching depth as well as its aspect ratio. Especially theetching depth is controlled to change the guided mode profiles of the rib waveguide and thus to achieve an optimum coupling in the branch. The measured crosstalk is better than -16dB and the extincton ratio of each output port is greater than 16dB.

  • The unpredicted worldwide oil price makes the energy efficiency technology be more importance than any other period. The small cogeneration system is one of the most representative technology among the energy efficiency technologies, and the Stirling engine cogeneration system has been concerned and investigated due to the preferable characteristics - low toxic emission, low noise and vibration level, and the various form of fuel. A tiny, 1kW of electrical output, gas fueled Stirling engine cogeneration system was investigated. The electrical efficiency and thermal efficiency of the system were measured. The experiment was executed at an independent Stirling engine mode, independent secondary burner mode, and the combined mode. Part load characteristics of the Stirling engine cogeneration system were investigated also. With the efficiency characteristics, the $O_2$ and NOx emission characteristics were measured.

  • In nuclear plants, UVR (under voltage relay, 27r) of 1E bus, which protected and supplied power to essential loads, to safety trip of reactor and supplied to starting signal of EDG (emergency diesel generators) automatically. therefore UVR tolerances setting and calculation method has been important to nuclear facility. If calculation and tolerances values differ or ignore, may induced power loss and economical loss by protective failure. This paper show results for calculation methods, and whether dependant or independent methods for factors. included whether PT (potential transformer/voltage transformer) tolerance or not adapted, and based on UVR setting method within a difference minimum and maximum of rated voltage to safety operation in nuclear plants.

  • 본 논문은 IJG(Independent JPEG Group)의 JPEG 부호기의 처리 과정과 동작을 기술한다. IJG JPEG 부호기의 구조는 color conversion, downsampling, preprocessing 과정과 MCU 처리, FDCT, quantization, entropy encoding(sequential 혹은 progressive, huffman 혹은 arithmetic)의 실제적인 JPEG 압축 과정인 JPEG proper로 구성된다. 또한 이러한 모듈들외에 시스템 전체 controller, marker 생성기, 기억장소 관리, 에러 처리를 위한 모듈들을 포함하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 IJG JPEG 부호기의 전체 시스템 구조 및 controller 와 주요 모듈간 인터페이스, 시스템에서 사용하는 주요 자료 구조에 대하여 분석하고자 한다.

  • It is true that Aircraft accident investigation organization of Republic of Korea does not have independent role structurally and administratively. Also, in the event of an aviation accident it does not take the appropriate response and post-institutional measures for victims and their families support. Application of return mapping technique to multiple hardening concrete model

  • Computational procedure within the framework of return mapping technique has been presented to integrate the constitutive behavior of a concrete model. Developed by Ohtani and Chen, this concrete model is based on multiple hardening concept, and is rate-independent and associative. Consistent tangent operator suitable for finite element analysis is derived to preserve the rate of convergence. Accuracy of the integration technique is verified and compared with available experimental data. Computational efficiency is demonstrated by comparing with results based on elasto-plastic tangent.

  • A Pre-emphasis transmitter for DRAM bus system has achieved 3.2Gbps/pin operation at 1.8V supply voltage with 0.18um CMOS process. The transmitter has 800MHz PLL to generate 4 phase clocks. The 4 phase clocks are used for input clock of PRBS and multiplexing. One tap pre-emphasis is used to reduce inter symbol interference (ISI) caused by channel low pass effects. The analog calibration makes the optimized driver impedance independent with the PVT variation.

  • We derive approximate maximum likelihood estimators of two parameters in a weighted exponential distribution, and derive the density function for the ratio Y=(X+Y) of two independent weighted exponential random variables X and Y, and then observe the skewness of the ratio density.

  • A system consisting of two continuously and independently operating equipment subject to breakdown and repair, is considered. It is assumed that both equipment age only when in operation, and a group replacement policy is in effect, that is, both equipment are replaced simultaneously by new identical ones as soon as either of them reaches a specified replacement age. First, a system of partial differential equations based on enumerating the various probabilistic events, is derived. Then, solutions of such system of equations for a model considered in the steady-state are obtained. Finally, an economic analysis is performed to determine the optimal replacement ages of both equipment.

  • This study is to investigate what are major determinants to decide the level of HSR(High-Speed Railroad)'s fare rate in Korea. The study suggests that for the independent operation of the HSR, the fare rate be charged based on the profitability and for the increase in the demand, various discount programs be needed. In addition, in order to operate HSR independently, the HSR fare rate must be charged in the deregulation of the government.
