  • The microstructure of the zinc electrodeposits was investigated by changing the flow rate of electrolyte in zinc sulfate Bath. The cathode current efficiency increased with increasing flow rate of electrolyte. The preferred orientation of zinc electrodeposit changed from (11.2) texture to (10.3) or (10.1)+(10.2) texture with increasing current density in the range of flow rate, 0.2-1.2m/sec. The morphology of the deposits changed from the sponge deposit to the blocks of hexagonal crystallites packed together through the structures of find polycrystallite with increasing current density. The microstructure of the cross-section of the above deposits are granular structure and columnar structure respectively. The surface roughness of zinc electrodeposits decreased with increasing current density and flow rate of electrolyte.

  • $\beta$-Tricalcium phosphate ($\beta$-TCP) particles reinforced bioresorbable plastics poly-L-lactide (PLLA) composites were prepared by injection molding. The nominal weight ratio of $\beta$-TCP was selected as 5, 10 and 15%. In order to clarify effects of the PLLA crystallinity on the mechanical properties, the specimens were heat treated isothermally. Results of differential scanning calorimetry indicated that the PLLA crystallinity increased with increasing heat treatment temperature. Bending and compressive tests were conducted on the specimen with different $\beta$-TCP contents and crystallinities. The results show that the bending and compressive moduli increased with increasing $\beta$-TCP contents and crystallinity. On the other hand, bending strength decreased with increasing $\beta$-TCP contents. Maximum bending strength was obtained at the heat treatment of $70^{\circ}C$ for 24 h, whereas compressive 0.2% proof strength increased with increasing heat treatment temperature. This difference is attributed to the difference in the microscopic damages.

  • In this study, variable compression ratio system(VCRS) was applied on the heavy-duty CNG engine and the characteristics of power and emission was investigated according to the increasing of compression ratio. As compression ratio increasing, the increasing of thermal efficiency in direct injection is three times higher than that in port injection. The emission of HC and CO in direct injection is reduced about 14.2%, 17.7% but NOx is increased because of increasing temperature in cylinder.

  • A modified asymmetric rectangular fin is analysed using the two-dimensional separation of variables method. This modified rectangular fin is made by attaching the wing on the top side of a rectangular fin. Heat loss from each side of this modified rectangular fin is calculated. The relative increasing ratio of heat loss between a modified rectangular fin and a rectangular fin is presented as a function of dimensionless fin volume, wing height and the location of the wing. Especially, to show the remarkable effect of the wing on the heat loss, the relative increasing ratios of heat loss between two different volume increasing methods are listed.

  • Cure characteristics and physical properties of carbon black-filled natural rubber (NR) compounds depending on the mixing procedure were studied using the compounds with different pre-final mixing (FM-1) stages. Carbon master batch (MB) and first and second remitting (1RM and 2RM) stages were employed as the FM-1 stage. Bound rubber content of the FM compound decreased with increasing the mixing steps. This was due to the decrease of the molecular weight distribution of the polymer by the rubber chain scission during the mixing. The Mooney viscosity decreased with increasing the mixing steps. Cure characteristics of the compounds were found to be different with the mixing procedures. The cure times of the compound became slower by increasing the number of the mixing steps. This was explained by the length of rubber chain, the carbon black network, distribution of the curatives in the compound, and immobilization of the polymeric segments. Modulus and tensile strength of the vulcanizate did not show a specific trend with the mixing procedure. Fatigue life of the vulcanizate increased by increasing the mixing stages.

  • In this study, it was observed that hydrogen Productivity varied with stirrer speed, bead radius, input glucose concentration and dilution rate in a continuous stirred tank reactor in which immobilized R. rubrum KS-301 was used as a hydrogen-producing bacterium The mass transfer resistance due to cell immobilization was also studied. In order to estimate an effectiveness factor, Des of glucose was first obtained, which was subsequently represented by the correlation equation between Dos and Xb, As a result external mass transfer resistance could be neglected for stirrer speeds greater than 400rpn With bead radius increasing, the hydrogen productivity and internal effectiveness factor decreased. With input 91ucose concentration increasing, the hydrogen productivity and interval and external effectiveness factor increased. Although an Internal effectiveness factor was not affected, hydrogen productivity Increased with dilution rate increasing. An overall effectiveness factor remained nearly constant for the dilution rates investigate4 but increased with input 91ucose concentration increasing.

  • The effects of polymer-binder ratio, antifoamer content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the air content and strengths of high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes are examined. As a result, the air content of the polymer-modified pastes tends to decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio and antifoamer content. Irrespective of the antifoamer content, the flexural and tensile strengths of the high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes tends to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio, and tend to decrease with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content. However, the compressive strength of the polymer-modified pastes decreases with increasing polymer-binder ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content.

  • A series of UV-curable polyurethane acrylate ionomer were synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI), poly(tetramethylene ether glycol)(PTMG), 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid (CMPA), triethylamine(TEA), 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate (HEA), and dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBT) as a catalyst. 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl acetophenone(DMPAP) was used as a photoinitiator. The films of UV-cured polyurethane acylate ionomer were prepared by casting the formulated materials onto a glass plate at room temperature and cured using a medium pressure mercury lamp (80 W/cm, max = 365nm). Effects of DMPA content, molecular weight of PTMG and degree of neutralization on the properties were invesigated. It is found that the storage modulus increased with increasing DMPA content. The glass transition temperature of sample A shifted to higher temperature as the content of DMPA was increased. Tensile modulus also increased with increasing DMPA content. Modulus and Tg decreased with increasing molecular weight of PTMG form 650 to 2000. With increasing the degree of nutralizaion, ionomers exhibited improved modulu.

  • A two-part model is estimated to see if increasing returns and comparative advantage are empirically equivalent in explaining intra-industry trade. The model has separate mechanisms for determining the occurrence and the extent of intra-industry trade. Estimation is based on an augmented Grubel-Lloyd index derived from the data set on SITC 7 goods at the 3-digit SITC (Revision 4) for country pairs in which Korea is fixed as a source country. Estimation results show that both increasing returns and comparative advantage can explain the occurrence and the extent of intra-industry trade.

  • In this paper, the viewing angle characteristics of amorphous (a) - twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) on poly(vinyl)cinnamate (PVC) surface with UV (ultraviolet) light irradiation were investigated. It was found that the threshold voltage increases with increasing the polymerization of PVC surfaces. We observed that the domain size of a-TN-LCD decreases with increasing the photo polymerization by increasing UV light irradiation time on PVC films. Also, we observed that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD increased with increasing the photo polymerization on PVC surfaces. Finally, we consider that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD on PVC surfaces is large compared to a-TN-LCD on polyimide (PI) surface.
