  • The experimental study on the ducted fan for the propulsion system of a small UAV has been performed. In this paper, to investigate the three-dimensional unsteady flow field characteristics of the ducted fan, it was measured by using a $45^{\circ}$ inclined hot-wire from hub to tip at inlet, behind the rotor and outlet of the ducted fan. The hot-wire signal data was acquired at fixed yaw angle. The data was averaged by using the PLEAT (Phase Locked Ensemble Averaging Technique), and then three of non-linear equations were solved simultaneously by using the Newton-Rhapson numerical method. Flow characteristics such as tip vortex, secondary flow and tip leakage flow were confirmed through axial, radial and tangential contour plot.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze methods of women's apparel prototypes and provide for some useful fundamental data to improve the apparel prototype suitable for Korean women. Two different drafting methods, the Bunka pattern of Japan Bunka Women's University and the Secoli pattern of Italy istituto carlo secoli, an italian pattern drafting institute, were selected. The result and discussion are as follows; In the calculation formula, the Bunka was shown more comfort at arm-hole part, because of it's lower arm-hole depth, wider arm-hole width and lower cap height in comparison with the Secoli. At the shoulder angle, the Bunka is inclined more in front shoulder than the back shoulder, whereas the Secoli is inclined more in back shoulder than the front shoulder. It could explain that the Bunka is suitable for bendforward type and the Secoli is suitable for lean-back type. In the sensory test, the one-piece pattern of the Secoli with 4cm ease was highly estimated in ease. It seems young women's preference to body conscious clothes which reflected in many new elastic fabrics. At the bust point to neck, the Bunka was highly estimated, compared with the Secoli. It seems like to be caused that for the bust point to neck formula, the Bunka used bust girth, the Secoli used stature which has low correlation with the bust point to neck.

  • This study was executed to analyze the stress distribution of tooth, supporting structure and overdenture by two-dimensional photoelastics when 6 types of coping were inserted. Types of coping were designed to be inclined plane, short dome, medium dome, shore square, medium square and o-p anchor attachment. Fortes were applied respectively as follows: 1) Vertical load of 10 kg on the incisal edge 2) $30^{\circ}$ diagonal load of 8 kg on the labial surface. The results were as follows: 1. In case of short dome and o-p anchor attachment, the stress is evenly distributed on teeth, supporting tissue structure under vertical and $30^{\circ}$ diagonal load, then short dome and o-p anchor attachment show better stress distribution and stabilization of overdenture than any other coping under labial diagonal load. 2. Inclined plane revealed greater tendency of displacement of overdenture than any other coping under labial diagonal load. 3. Long height of copings had greater concentration of stress than short height of copings. 4. In case of medium dome under labial diagonal load, there were high level of stress concentration on denture base contacted labioincisal angle of coping.

  • The occurrence of an inclined edge crack in transversely piezoelectric material is analyzed. Concentrated antiplane mechanical and inplane electrical loads are applied at the boundary and crack surface, respectively. The crack surfaces are assumed to be impermeable to the electric field. Using the Mellin transform with the introduction of a generalized displacement vector, the problem is formulated, and the Wiener-Hopf equation is derived. By solving the equation, the solution is obtained in a closed form. The intensity factors of the stress, the electric displacement, and the energy release rate are obtained for any crack length and inclination angle. These solutions can be used as fundamental solutions and can be superimposed to represent any arbitrary electromechanical loading.

  • The present numerical study was performed to determine how the two perforated baffles( Inclined angle=$5^{\circ}$; perforation diameter=2cm) placed at a rectangular duct affect heat transfer and associated friction factors. The parametric effects of perforated baffles(3, 6 and 12 holes) and flow Reynolds number ranging from 28,900 to 61,000 on the heated target surface are explored. As for the investigation of heat transfer behaviours on the local Nusselt number with two baffles placed at $x/D_h=0.8$ and $x/D_h=0.8$ of the edge baffles, it is evident that the average Nusselt number increases with increasing number of holes, but the friction factor decreases with an increase in the hole number placed at baffles. The numerical results by commercial code CFX 10.0 are confirmed with the experimental data.

  • The aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of discharge grille of outdoor unit of air-conditioner was investigated in this study. Discharge grille is one of outdoor unit's important parts to affect the flow rate and Overall Sound Pressure Level(OSPL). New type of discharge grille was suggested based on the results of numerical simulation. To simulate the flow pattern near the propeller fan, commercial flow solver FLUENT was used. Sliding mesh method was used for rotating propeller fan and initial condition for unsteady model was calculated by Multiple Reference Frame(MRF) method. To minimize the interaction noise between fan blade wake and discharge grille, new discharge grille has radial rib which is aligned with trailing edge of fan blade. And inclined radial rib was adopted for reducing flow rate drop in discharge grille. The optimization of inclined angle of radial grille was performed experimentally.

  • Steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) is an anisotropic material due to the random orientation of the fibres within the cement matrix. Fibres under different inclination angles provide different strength contribution of a given crack width. For that the pull-out response of inclined fibres is of great importance to understand SFRC behaviour, particularly in the case of fibres with hooked ends, which are the most widely used. The paper focuses on the numerical modelling of the pull-out response of this kind of fibres from high-strength cementitious matrix in order to study the effects of different inclination angles of the fibres to the load-displacement pull-out curves. The pull-out of the fibres is studied by means of accurate three-dimensional finite element models, which take into account the nonlinearities that are present in the physical model, such as the nonlinear bonding between the fibre and the matrix in the early stages of the loading, the unilateral contact between the fibre and the matrix, the friction at the contact areas, the plastification of the steel fibre and the plastification and cracking of the cementitious matrix. The bonding properties of the fibre-matrix interface considered in the numerical model are based on experimental results of pull-out tests on straight fibres.

  • Recently, the use of numerical simulation has been increased rapidly because of the development of high performance computer systems. The present study is aimed to investigate flow characteristics of a two-dimensional sharp plane. Unsteady calculation by FDM(Finite Difference Method) based upon SOLA scheme which was performed at $Re=2{\times}10^4$in viscous incompressible flow within a finite domain on the irregular grid formation. Total numbers of irregular grids are $8{\times}10^4$. The minimum grid size is 1/100 of the plane length L which is the representative length. The inclined angles of every objects are $15^{\circ}, \;30^{\circ}\;and\; 45^{\circ}.$ And, the edge angle of the plane is $30^{\circ}.$ This study discussed the flow characteristics in term of the turbulent intensity, vorticity and frequency analysis. Developed flows show that the periodic Karman vortices occur at the back of the plane.

  • Intensity-based optical fiber sensors are devised using a blocker which is located between two polymer optical fibers(POFs), one fiber is light-in and the other is light-out. This blocker is moved by an external displacement. Therefore, finding a general formulation of the relation between this displacement and transmission light intensity of various blockers is important to help develop intensity-based optical fiber sensors. In this paper, we consider blockers with arbitrary shapes from circular holes to inclined angled blockers. The transmission light intensities of such blockers should be determined by this generalized equation. In order to verify this equation, the calculated intensities of the blockers are compared with the values acquired from experiment. In the comparison, it is shown that the analytic equation can give the exact values of the transmitted light intensities for the assorted blockers. The range of the displacement measurement is also shown to be about 6 times of the radius of the hole in the case of a 9 degree inclined angle blocker.

  • Numerical modelling of an integrated Carbon NanoTube (CNT) membrane is only achievable if probable deformations and realistic alterations from a perfect CNT membrane are taken into account. Considering the possible forms of CNTs, bending is one of the most probable deformations in these high aspect ratio nanostructures. Hence, investigation of effect associated with bent CNTs are of great interest. In the present study, molecular dynamics simulation is utilized to investigate fluid flow dynamics in deformed CNT membranes, specifically when the tube cross section is not affected. Bending in armchair (5,5) CNT was simulated using Tersoff potential, prior to flow rate investigation. Also, to study effect of inclined entry of the CNT to the membrane wall, argon flow through generated inclined CNT membranes is examined. The results show significant variation in both cases, which can be interpreted as counter-intuitive, since the cross section of the CNT was not deformed in either case. The distribution of fluid-fluid and fluid-wall interaction potential is investigated to explain the anomalous behavior of the flow rate versus bending angle.
