5-axis laser cutting has great advantages when it is applied to three dimensional machining requiring high cutting quality. For developing 5-axis CNC laser cutting systems, however, many problems such as rotating a laser head or a working table, 5-axis servo-control mechanism, tool path generation and post-processing, and collision avoidance between a laser head and a work-piece should be solved. In this paper, we deal with developing a motion simulator for 5-axis laser cutting machine with a nutating cutting head whose rotational axis is in an inclined plane. Two essential modules such as post-processor and cutting motion simulator was developed based on a commercial 3D CAD of UG-NX. The developed system was applied to three dimensional cutting products and showed the validity of the developed methods.

The safety of buildings is generally estimated by analyzing a plane frame ignoring a minor bending moment. In this paper, uncertainties of reinforced concrete shear wall subjected to a biaxial bending are considered. First, major parameters are selected from all parameters of general shear wall design to perform a reliability analysis in their practical ranges, means and standard derivations of selected design parameters for the reliability analysis are calculated by a data mining as a simulation method. The bi-section method is used to find inclined neutral axis and its limit state using MATLAB subjected to the concept on strength design method. The reliability index $\beta$ as a safety index is calculated based on AFOSM(Advanced First-Order Second Moment) method. Also, if target reliability index $\beta_T$ is decided by an engineer an amount of reinforcement can be calculated by subtracting the reliability index $\beta$ from the target reliability index $\beta_T$.

In this study, to create circular holes on an inclined conic face, we developed a novel process of vertical piercing on the plane before drawing, instead of applying an expensive cam-piercing method. The pierced holes are deformed during the drawing, and their shapes are affected by the size of the center hole. Using the Abaqus CAE program, the deformation tendency of the holes, according to the diameter of the center hole, was identified, and the diameter for securing the roundness of the side holes were determined through actual experiments. The developed process was successfully applied to mass production of the part, and a cost reduction is expected.
The study to be presented related on initial behavior of quench concerned with many considerations, such as epoxy impregnated coil, critical current density related on strain and temperature, winding effect and behavior of internal superconducting wire. Especially, the deformation behavior of coils under magnetic field and thermal contractions at cryogenic temperatures to be dealt with the analytical method related on Fracture Mechanics. From the results, we know that the strain by self weight contribute to epoxy cracking at the edge of deformed coils and the deformation behavior relate on epoxy cracking must be dealt with biaxial loading problem. Then, the epoxy crack on $r\theta-plane$ under biaxial loading have been propagated with inclined crack angle and joined superconducting wire. Also, we can explain transfer of epoxy crack propagation energy from epoxy resin to superconducting wire.
A method of measuring the length of defects on the wall of the spent nuclear fuel pool using the image processing and a laser slit beam is proposed. Since the defect monitoring camera is suspended by a crane and hinged to the crane hook, the camera viewing direction can not be adjusted to the orientation that is exactly perpendicular to the wall. Thus, the image taken by the camera, which is horizontally rotated along the axis of the camera supporting beam, is distorted and thus, the precise length can not be measured. In this paper, by using the LASER slit beam generator, the horizontally rotated angle of the camera is estimated. Once the angle is obtained, the distorted image can be easily reconstructed to the image normal to the wall. The estimation algorithm adopts a 3-dimensional coordinate transformation of the image plane where both the laser slit beam and the original image of the defects exist. The estimation equation is obtained by using the information of the beam projected on the wall and the parameters of this equation are experimentally obtained. With this algorithm, the original image of the defect taken at arbitrary rotated angle can be reconstructed to an image normal to the wall. From the result of a series of experiments, the accuracy of the defect is measured within 0.6 and 1.3 % error bound of real defect size in the air and underwater, respectively under 30 degree of the inclined angle of the laser slit beam generator. Also, the error increases as the inclined angle increases upto 60 degree. Over this angle, the defect length can not be measured since the defect image disappears. The proposed algorithm enables the accurate measurement of the defect length only by using a single camera and a laser slit beam.

A multi-ray model has been used to interpret radio transmission losses in half-canyon structures with slope and to formulate a multi-ray propagation model depending on the angle of slopes. The cut-off angles for the third and fourth paths, which are the slope-sided reflection paths of the transmission and reception radio waves determined by the inclined angles of the slope, were calculated with the height and location of the transmitter and receiver. To predict transmission losses in an inclined plane environment, the embankment environment where the actual slope exists was modeled and simulated to calculate the loss of propagation transmission, and the radio wave transmission loss was confirmed by the measurement for the frequency band 1 to 6 GHz. Simulation results and measurement results showed similar trends in radio transmission loss, and radio transmission loss predictions and measurement results for various terrain information can be used in the design of radio propagation service.
This study was undertaken to compare the craniofacial morphology of Class II, Division 1 malocclusion with that of normal occlusion in children, and to investigate the incidence of various Class II, Division 1 craniofacial skeletal patterns. The subjects consist of thirty seven boys and fifty three girls with Class II, Division 1 malocclusion, and forty six boys and eighty one girls 10-15 years with normal occlusion. Measurements were recorded, tabulated and analyzed on the lateral cephalograms by the degree of SNA, SNB and ANB. The following characteristics of the Class II, Division 1 skeletal pattern were observed. 1. The anteroposterior relationship of the maxilla to the cranium in the Class II, Division 1 was very similar to that of normal occlusion. 2, Mandible of the Class II, Division 1 malocclusion was in the posterior position in relation to the cranial anatomy when compared to normal. 3. The chin point as measured by SN Pog and NS Gn showed distal positioning in relation to normal occlusion. 4. SN to mandibular plane angle was large in Class II, Division 1 malocclusion. 5. Mandibular incisor inclination was not significantly different between Class II, Division 1 malocclusion and normal occlusion, but maxillary incisors inclined and positioned labially and consequently overjet was large in Class II, Division 1 malocclusion. 6. Class II, Division 1 malocclusion was divided into four types of craniofacial skeletal pattern. The most common Class II, Division 1 pattern was found to be type C in which SN-Mand. Pl. was above mean range of normal occlusion. The next frequent pattern was found to be type A in which maxilla and mandible were within normal range of protrusion while upper incisors were severly labially inclined.
Wind tunnel test results and their interpretations, which were performed to study the aerodynamic stability of tower of self-anchored suspension bridge, are presented in this paper. Tower and full models were tested under smooth and turbulent flow conditions. In the case of the tower with inclined two columns, the vibration due to wakes were occurred at wide velocity zone because the wakes with various frequencies were generated by inclined upstream column. It has to be emphasized that the vibration characteristics of the tower in the self-anchored suspension bridge may be very sensitive to the longitudinal boundary conditions of the girder at the supports. Because of the two natural frequency of the tower, out-of-plane bending and torsional, were not well separated, coupled motions were observed in a wide range of wind velocity. The effectiveness of corner cut, countermeasure to reduce the tower vibrations, was also studied. It has been found that 1:10, comer cut size to column width, may be the most effective ratio for reducing the vibrations.
Objective: To evaluate transverse skeletal and dental changes, including those in the buccolingual dental axis, between patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion and facial asymmetry after bilateral intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy with and without presurgical orthodontic treatment. Methods: This retrospective study included 29 patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion and facial asymmetry including menton deviation > 4 mm from the midsagittal plane. To evaluate changes in transverse skeletal and dental variables (i.e., buccolingual inclination of the upper and lower canines and first molars), the data for 16 patients who underwent conventional orthognathic surgery (CS) were compared with those for 13 patients who underwent preorthodontic orthognathic surgery (POGS), using three-dimensional computed tomography at initial examination, 1 month before surgery, and at 7 days and 1 year after surgery. Results: The 1-year postsurgical examination revealed no significant changes in the postoperative transverse dental axis in the CS group. In the POGS group, the upper first molar inclined lingually on both sides (deviated side, $-1.8^{\circ}{\pm}2.8^{\circ}$, p = 0.044; nondeviated side, $-3.7^{\circ}{\pm}3.3^{\circ}$, p = 0.001) and the lower canine inclined lingually on the nondeviated side ($4.0^{\circ}{\pm}5.4^{\circ}$, p = 0.022) during postsurgical orthodontic treatment. There were no significant differences in the skeletal and dental variables between the two groups at 1 year after surgery. Conclusions: POGS may be a clinically acceptable alternative to CS as a treatment to achieve stable transverse axes of the dentition in both arches in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion and facial asymmetry.
The wake galloping phenomenon is evaluated for two cylinders via two-dimensional wind tunnel tests. The two cylinders are deployed parallel to the inclination of the vertical plane, which simulates the inclined stay cables of a cable-stayed bridge. The upstream and downstream displacements of the cylinder are observed with varying center distances between the two cylinders. The effect of structural damping on the mitigation of wake galloping is also investigated. The amplitude of the vibration is very sensitive to center distance between the two cylinders. The maximum amplitudes exceededthe allowable limit of the design guidelines for small center distances of less than or equal to six times the diameter of the cylinder. The overall results conformedto the conventional design practice for the wake galloping of parallel cables. It was found, however, that the increase in the damping was not effective in reducing the amplitude of the vibration in the wake galloping phenomenon.
