Factors Influencing the Purchase Intention of EVs Among Korean and Chinese Consumers

  • Purpose - Using the Model of Goal-Directed Behavior (MGB), this study identifies the critical factors that influence consumer intention to purchase an electric vehicle (EV). This study also provides differentiated policy implications to the Korean and Chinese governments and EV-related companies for the expansion of the EV market in both countries by comparing consumers' perceptions of EV purchase intentions. Design/methodology - Our extended MGB model adds to the standard model consideration of financial incentives, perceived risks, and environmental concerns. An online survey was conducted of Korean and Chinese consumers. Based on the collected responses, all tested hypotheses were verified using PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling). Differences in the path analysis results between Korea and China were compared and verified using Henseler's MGA (multi-group analysis), the parametric test, and the Welch-Satterthwaite test. Findings - The most critical factor that influences the intent to purchase an EV in consumers from both countries is personal desire. PBC and SN were identified as the critical factors that respectively increase personal desire in Korea and China. In addition, in Korea, among the three factors EC, FIP, and PR, environmental concerns were found to have the most significant impact on attitudes and purchase intention. In contrast, in China, economic factors (specifically financial incentives) had greater importance than environmental issues. Originality/value - This study has academic contributions in that it presents a new research model that includes financial incentive policies, environmental concerns, and perceived risk variables based on the MGB to explore consumers' purchase intentions. This study can also make a practical contribution in that it provides some meaningful implications to the governments and EV-related companies of both countries based on the differences in the analysis results of the Korean and Chinese markets.

  • In this study, the main goal is conduct an empirical research for MNC's(multinational companies) contingency factors and entry modes. Through examining elements of success and limitations of foreign companies in the domestic market, a resulting purpose can be suggested such as developing attractive foreign investment policy. The results in this study are as below. The results from Logistic Regression Analysis there were indications for preference factors for WOS (Wholly Owned Subsidiary). The factors were 'Strategic Motivation', 'Intelligent Property', and 'Market Latent Purchasing Power'. For JV (Joint Venture) there were preferred factors such as 'Degree of Using Product Factors', 'Differential Products Development Ability', and 'Systematic Incentives'. However, this thesis is limited to identifying clear causal relationship between the 'Performance' of foreign investment enterprise which entered WOS or JV and various factors which were suggested in the contingency factors (independent variables).

Factors Affecting Hospital Employees' Knowledge Sharing (병원 근로자의 지식공유에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The objective of this research is to survey of knowledge management in hospitals and to search the factors to impact the knowledge sharing and innovation behavior among employees. The data is collected with hospital employees by questionnaire method. Total number of analysis is 779 cases, and the collected data is analyzed by SEM(structural equation model). The work performance(WP) make influence the innovation behavior(IB) through knowledge sharing(KS) intention. The KS intention and IB are different in sex, age, education, work duration and work level. But, WP is different only in sex. The only personnel and organizational factors to affect KS intention, WP and IB are reciprocity(in personnel factor) and trust(in organization factor). Those factors mean the mental or psychological relationship among employees. So, to make more developed knowledge management in hospitals is to need more personal relationship than any other system management or incentives.

  • The block-unit housing renewal project was presented as an alternative method to overcome the side effects of large-scale renewal projects while improving poor residential conditions. However, projects implementation is prolonged and even the pace of projects, which was considered an various incentives, is being delayed for the most part. In this study, delay factors are drawn by eight; conflict among association members, contract delay of joint implementation, participation paucity of constructor, inadequate project guidelines, alteration of project plan, lack of renewal project professionals, stricter loan restriction of HUG, lack of capacity of project operator. We categorized those eight factors to three aspects such as implementation, participants and proposition and suggested improvement alternatives according to three aspects.

The Factors Affecting The Nurse-Patient Interaction (환자와 간호사의 상호작용에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The factors that affect the nurse-patient interaction were identified. Sixty-six nurses participated in the cross-sectional survey. Based upon the literature, the factors were classified into 4 categories : the patient, the nurse, the family caregiver, and the situational factors. The data were collected with the open-and closed-ended questionnaire developed by researchers. In the closed-ended questionnaire, the significant factors differentiating the best-liked from the least-liked caring situation were found in all factors except the nurse factors. None of the nurse factors was found to be significant. In patient factors, the physically attractive stereotype was found to affect patient-nurse interaction. As expected, family caregiver factors were found to affect the nurse-patient interaction. The content analysis was done to identify the specific factors affecting nurse-patient interaction. In both of the best-liked and the least-liked caring situations, the patient factors were the most contributing causes as likely as 68.51% and 66.45%, respectively. Some factors that nurses perceived as causes for the best-liked and the least-liked to care were presented. In conclusion, these results show that nurses are influenced by stereotypes in caring patients. So, some programs to increase awareness of the biases of nurses are included in in-service education. Also the incentives to encourage nurses are needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis factors affecting workers' knowledge sharing intention in a hospital. This study is based on personal factors such as perceived incentives, perceived reciprocal benefits, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norm. Also, there are organizational factors such as organizational climate, CEO's support, rewards system, trust, and IT system. Data were assessed using 107 employees who work at C university hospital in Chunkcheong-do and collected with self-administered questionnaires from April 1 to 13 in 2013. This study was analyzed SPSS 18 by using frequency and multi regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows. First, knowledge sharing intention among personal factors was statistically significant in perceived behavioral control. Second, the awareness of knowledge sharing intention among organizational factors was turned out to be positive effect for CEO's support and trust. This study was identified a couple of factors affecting knowledge sharing intention between personal and organizational factors. The the implications of these factors are discussed and areas for developing hospital management strategies are fostered knowledge sharing.

R&D Investments and Ownership Structure (R&D 투자와 소유구조)

  • This study analyzes various factors affecting a firm's investments, focusing on both a firm's ownership structure and CEO's incentives. While previous empirical works focus on various financial data in order to test the Schumpeterian Hypotheses, this paper is using various ownership structure data as well as financial data. Empirical results show that the greater a firm's CEO has the company's own stock, the less he spends in R&D investments. The main empirical results of this study is in line with past empirical studies on various markets outside of Korea.

Does Knowledge-sharing Intent Matter in the Use of Knowledge Management Systems? (지식공유 의도와 지식관리시스템의 사용)

  • One of the major goals of using knowledge management systems(KMS) is the sharing of knowledge. The intent of an individual to share his/her knowledge plays a crucial role in sharing quality knowledge in corporations. However, there is little research that addresses this relationship between the intent to share and the use of KMS both from a holistic perspective and with empirical data analyses. To understand major factors that affect both knowledge sharing intent and the use of KMS, we conducted a field study from eight companies in four different industries which had been using KMS for at least a year. Using confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation modeling techniques, we have analyzed the relationships among top management support, trust among peers, trust in the organizational hierarchy, incentives and rewards, knowledge-sharing intent, KMS quality, knowledge quality, and the use of KMS. The research results show that top management support and trust between peers enhance the intent of sharing knowledge. We also found that top management support, knowledge-sharing intent, incentives and rewards, and the quality of knowledge have positive relationships with the use of KMS.

  • The purpose of this study is to build promotive measures and to develop alternative policies of DG(Distributed Generation) by finding and analysing effects of four business environment factors related to DEPB(District Electricity Power Business) on boosting DG. In this study, four business environment factors, which are the electric power industry restructuring, electricity tariff and pricing structure, regulations for DEPB, and conflicts of stake-holding groups, are considered as independent variables. And promotion factors of DG including small CHP(Combined Heat and Power) generation, which is outcome of DEPB, are considered as dependent variables. But dependent variables including booming of new renewable energy generation due to green energy pricing incentives, the electric power industry restructuring, and electricity tariff and pricing policies were separatively considered. In this study, some policies were proposed reflecting research results of empirical demonstrative analysis, previous studies, overseas cases, etc.

Small Buyers Adoption of Reverse Aggregation Electronic Markets: A Case Study on the Korean Auto Repair Industry

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate factors which can lead small buyers to participate in a Reverse Aggregation Electronic Market (RAEM). Five factors including search, selection, price, delivery, and Internet literacy were selected as possible factors which are expected to influence small buyers' participation in a RAEM. This paper focused on a RAEM of the Korean automotive industry in which the third party aggregator formed a group of small automobile repair shops (ARS) and amassed buying power for them by building a buyer' oriented electronic market (EM). Survey data were collected from small ARS in South Korea. The results of the empirical analysis indicated that fast delivery and support for Internet illiteracy are potential incentives that could influence buyers' decisions to join a RAEM.
