  • The skid-steering method that applied a number of mobile robot currently is very effective in narrow area. But it contains several problems of its natural properties, slip, occurred by different direction between vehicle's driving and wheel's rotary.   • This paper investigates the influence of mechanical energy storage on the interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) when it is operated in the generating mode. An IPMSM with six-poles and nine-slots employing concentrated coil winding type is considered as the analysis model, and a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor directly connected to a heavy wheel is applied as the mechanical energy storage system by using the moment of inertia. Based on the constructed experimental set-up with manufactured machines and power converters, the generated electrical energy is converted into the mechanical energy, and the electromagnetic filed characteristics of IPMSM are subsequently investigated by applying the measured phase current of IPMSM based on finite element method. Compared to the characteristics in a no-load condition, it is confirmed that the magnetic behavior, radial force, and power loss characteristics are highly influenced by the harmonics of the phase current due to the mechanical energy storage system.

  • In this paper, an improved re-adhesion control scheme is proposed for 1C4M railway traction system. It is well known that the coefficient of adhesion between wheel and rail has a maximum value at a certain slip velocity. In the proposed scheme, adhesive effort is estimated by a full-order observer and the driving torque of motor is controlled to get maximum adhesive effort. The-adhesion control simulator is designed to verify the proposed re-adhesion control algorithm. The simulation results and experimental results are presented.

  • In this paper, 5 kWh class Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System (SFES) was constructed including motor/generator, superconductor magnetic bearing(SMB), composite rotor and electromagnetic damper(EMD) system. High speed rotation test was performed after levitating flywheel rotor only using EMD without SMB. the PD controller of EMD was designed. the control system is constructed using xPC which is real time digital control system. the results of high speed rotation test showed that proposed EMD system have sufficient damping in cylindrical mode and conical mode, and vibration of wheel was suppressed below 10 ${\mu}m$.

  • In this paper an improved re-adhesion control scheme is proposed for IC4M(1-Controller 4-Motors) traction system. It is well known that the coefficient of adhesion between wheel and rail has a maximum value at a certain slip velocity. In the proposed scheme, maximum adhesive force is estimated by an observer and the driving torque of motor is controlled to set maximum adhesive force. The simulation results are presented.

  • This paper develops a computational model for estimating the ride quality of a cabover type large-sized truck in a double wheel bumpy ride test. The computational model is developed using ADAMS. To verify the developed model, an actual vehicle double wheel bumpy ride test is performed. In the test, the vehicle maintains a straight course with a constant velocity such that the front two wheels are passed the bump at the same time. The bump has the height of 60mm, and the width of 550mm. In the test, four velocities are used. They are 10kph, 20kph, 30kph and 40kph. Since the large-sized truck's center of gravity location is high, and its weight is heavy, it is a quite severe test condition to perform the test with more than 30kph velocity. In the test, vertical accelerations on the floor of the cab are measured. The measured accelerations are compared to the simulation results. From the comparison, it is shown that the developed model can predict not only the measured acceleration's tendency but also peak accelerations quite well. In this paper, the validated model is utilized to compare the ride quality between a vehicle with a multi-leaf spring and a vehicle with a tapered leaf spring in the front suspension system in a double bumpy ride test.

  • Two different designs of permanent magnet motors as direct wheel-set drive for the German high speed train ICE 3 are designed, one with surface mounted magnets (SM) and one with buried rotor magnets (BM). The surface magnet motor has $17\%$ less mass and a slightly higher efficiency and was therefore chosen for further investigations. Compared with the conventional drive system of the ICE 3, consisting of geared inverter fed induction machines, the gearless permanent magnet direct drive yields about $16\%$ lower losses. This calculation is based on the route parameters of the high speed track between Frankfurt/Main and Cologne in Germany, which is currently under construction.

  • The principal of a Maglev train is that floats on a magnetic field and is propelled by a linear induction motor. One of advantages is that it generates less noise compared to the wheel-on-rail train, because there are no wheels running along the rail. However, noises due to aero-dynamic disturbance and electrical system such as VVVF inverter and SLIM still occur. In this study, the Maglev cabin noises are measured during running and zero speed conditions. Pass-by noise measurements are performed to obtain outside noise during the operation of the train on the test tract. Data include a single microphone measurement as well as microphone array measurements. The array data are useful for sound source localization and more detailed noise reduction planning.

  • It is one of the most effective methods for performance improvement of electric railway vehicle to make better the wheel-rail adhesion character. In order to research adhesion character, adhesion system is developed. The experiment system makes it possible to change various adhesion parameters. This paper studied to restrain vibration of slip speed using torque control gy means of slip speed.

  • 인 휠 모터를 이용하여 구동되는 전기차량은 각 모터의 동기 제어가 요구된다. 기존의 마이크로컨트롤러는 구동시킬 수 있는 모터의 개수가 제한되어 인 휠 모터를 이용하여 구동되는 전기차량과 같은 다축 제어 시스템에 적용하기가 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)를 이용하여 4축 동기 SVPWM 기법을 구현하였으며, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 성능을 확인하였다.
