Recently, automobile industries have developed ADAS, smart cars, connected cars, automated driving systems, which use a variety of sensor systems - ultrasonics, cameras, lidars and radars - and communication systems. It is necessary to examine the electromagnetic immunity of vehicles equipped with those systems. The electromagnetic immunity tests are carried out in an electromagnetic semi anechoic chamber, which is cut off from the outside. It is difficult to create test environments in which the radar sensor systems of vehicles work properly in the test chamber. In this study, test jigs were designed and tested and as a result they are shown to be effective to create test environments for electromagnetic immunity tests of vehicles equipped with radar sensors. We also proposed additional safety standards for immunity tests of vehicles with radar systems that currently do not exist.

In this paper, we constructed Embedded web-server to be monitored and controlled for intelligent vehicle on the base of embedded system and Zigbee wireless communication. By interfacing main controller and embedded system with ECU including every information of vehicle, it is possible to monitor the cruising information of vehicle, and sensor signal added to inside and outside of vehicle is transferred to embedded system through Zigbee communication. Web-server is constructed using embedded system, that's why the access to vehicle is possible using PC or mobile instrument, and the real-time check and control of vehicle is possible as well.

This paper presents a study of localization methods based on particle filter using 2D laser sensor measurements and road feature map information, for autonomous vehicles. In order to navigate in an urban environment, an autonomous vehicle should be able to estimate the location of the ego-vehicle with reasonable accuracy. In this study, road features such as curbs and road markings are detected to construct a grid-based feature map using 2D laser range finder measurements. Then, we describe a particle filter-based method for accurate positional estimation of the autonomous vehicle in real-time. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is verified through real road driving experiments, in comparison with accurate DGPS data as a reference.
The autonomous vehicles are being developed and operated widely because of the advantages of reducing the traffic accident and saving time and cost for driving. The vehicle localization is an essential component for autonomous vehicle operation. In this paper, localization algorithm based on sensor fusion is developed for cost-effective localization using in-vehicle sensors, GNSS, an image sensor and reference images that made in advance. Information of the reference images can overcome the limitation of the low positioning accuracy that occurs when only the sensor information is used. And it also can acquire estimated result of stable position even if the car is located in the satellite signal blockage area. The particle filter is used for sensor fusion that can reflect various probability density distributions of individual sensors. For evaluating the performance of the algorithm, a data acquisition system was built and the driving data and the reference image data were acquired. Finally, we can verify that the vehicle positioning can be performed with an accuracy of about 0.7 m when the route image and the reference image information are integrated with the route path having a relatively large error by the satellite sensor.

An oxygen sensor installed in vehicle exhaust systems enables to measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas, in which the measured data are collected and analyzed in ECU(Engine Control Unit). The oxygen sensor is exposed to the high speed exhaust gas at high temperature circumstance, so that protection caps are required not only to protect the susceptible measuring part, but also to provide the real time measurement without time delay. In this study, a new oxygen sensor with one protection cap was proposed, and the CFD analysis was carried out in order to compare the performance characteristics, such as flow speed and ratio of AOA(Age of Air), for the conventional and new oxygen sensor. The numerical results of CFD analysis provided the flow speed of 1.34m/s and the ratio of AOA of 3.43. The similar features obtained from the numerical results showed that the new oxygen sensor guarantees the same performance characteristics of the conventional ones.
This paper presents a method to reduce the vibration-induced noise effect of an inertial measurement device mounted on a self-driving vehicle. The inertial sensor used in the GNSS/INS integrated navigation system of a self-driving vehicle is fixed directly on the chassis of vehicle body so that its navigation output is affected by the vibration of the vehicle's engine, resulting in the degradation of the navigational performance. Therefore, these effects must be considered when mounting the inertial sensor. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes to use an in-house manufactured vibration suppression device and analyzes its impact on reducing the vibration effect. Experimental test results in a static scenario show that the vibration-induced noise effect is more clearly observed in the lateral direction of the vehicle, but can be effectively suppressed by using the proposed vibration suppression device compared to the case without it. In addition, the dynamic positioning test scenario shows the position, speed, and posture errors are reduced to 74%, 67%, and 14% levels, respectively.
In this paper, analysis of magnetic marker for autonomous vehicle guidance system using 3-axis magnetic sensor propose. Position sensing is an important an estimation system of vehicle position and orientation on magnetic lane, which is a parameter of the steering controller for automated lane following is described. To verify that the magnetic dipole model could be applied to a magnetic unit paved in roadway, the analysis of the data 3-axis magnetic field measured experimentally.
In this paper, we propose the improved EDR (Event Data Recorder) storage data, which can identify the cause of unintended acceleration of eco-friendly vehicles. The proposed EDR storage data includes the brake pressure sensor value and a brake pedal travel sensor value. To verify the proposed EDR storage data, we observe the control algorithm and internal structure of the vehicle dynamic control system and a regenerative braking system in an eco-friendly vehicle.

Availability of the climbing angle information is crucial for the intelligent vehicle system. However, the climbing angle information can't be measured with the sensor mounted on the vehicle. In this paper, climbing angle estimation system is proposed. First, longitudinal acceleration obtained from gyro-sensor is compared with the actual longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle. If the vehicle is in yawing motion, actual longitudinal acceleration can't be approximated from time derivative of wheel speed, because lateral velocity and yaw rate affect actual longitudinal acceleration. Wheel speed and yaw rate can be obtained from the sensors mounted on the vehicle, but lateral velocity can't be measured from the sensor. Therefore, lateral velocity is estimated using unknown input observer with nonlinear tire model. Simulation results show that the compensated results using lateral velocity and yaw rate show better performance than uncompensated results.
Worldwide, studies on intelligent vehicles for the convenience of drivers have been actively conducted as the number of cars has increased. However, vehicle convenience enabled by buttons lowers the concentration on driving and hence poses as a huge threat to the safety of the driver. The use of one of the convenient features, impaired driving auxiliary equipment, is limited because of its complex usage, and this device also hinders the front view of the driver. This paper proposes a vehicle-control device for controlling the convenient features as well as changes in speed and direction using gestures and motions of the driver. This device consists of an ultrasonic sensor for recognizing movement, an arduino for accepting signal control functions and servo and DC motors apply to various vehicle parts. Firstly, the vehicle-control device was designed using a 3D CAD program known as Solid-works based on the size of the steering wheel. Then, through simulations, a suitable length for minimizing the absorbent between ultrasonic sensors was confirmed using a program known as COMSOL Multiphysics. Finally, simulation results were verified through experiments, and the optimal size of the device was identified through the number of errors.
