Fracture analysis of coating cracking on a substrate system described in a companion paper was applied and verified by four-point bending tests. The multiple cracking of coating was predicted using a fracture mechanics approach. The strain energy release rate (G) due to the formation of a new crack in a coating was obtained. A crack density vs. strain data of metallic and polymeric substrate was used to get the in-situ fracture toughness of coating with respect to various baking time and temperature. The $G_c$ was decreased as the baking temperature and time was increased. This paper gave insight about usefulness of four-point bending test for fracture toughness evaluation of coating and it gave a new method for in-situ coating toughness.

This paper describes the elecrtical and optical characteristics of $N_2$ doped porous 3C-SiC films. Polycrystalline 3C-SiC thin films are anodized by $HF+C_2H_5OH$ solution with UV-LED exposure. The growth of in-situ doped 3C-SiC thin films on p-type Si (100) wafers is carried out by using APCVD (atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition) with a single-precursor of HMDS (hexamethyildisilane: $Si_2(CH_3)_6)$. 0 ~ 40 sccm $N_2$ was used for doping. After the growth of doped 3C-SiC, porous 3C-SiC is formed by anodization with $7.1\;mA/cm^2$ current density for anodization time of 60 sec. The average pore diameter is about 30 nm, and etched area is increased with $N_2$ doping rate. These results are attributed to the decrease of crystallinity by $N_2$ doping. Mobility is dramatically decreased in porous 3C-SiC. The band gaps of polycrystalline 3C-SiC films and doped porous 3C-SiC are 2.5 eV and 2.7 eV, respectively.
Soil bulk density is a key parameter for soil physical property. Much root placed in rhizosphere soil lump, especially in grassland and orchard, makes it difficult to measure soil bulk density. This experiment was carried out to countermeasure the above drawbacks. Volume check apparatus using water-filling method was made of acryl for higher accuracy in bulk density measurement. 10 types of land cover, including bare, tall fescue, rye, and soybean, were used for determining the relationships between root and bulk density. In this study, higher root volume resulted in higher differences in bulk density between in-situ core soil and root-ridded core soil, which indicated the volume check apparatus through water-filling could be useful for increasing the accuracy of bulk density of soils with much root.
We fabricated the in-situ $MgB_2$ wires using the powder-in-tube method and investigated the effects of sintering temperature and SiC contents on the microstructure and superconducting properties. Pure $MgB_2$ wires and 5, 10, 20 wt.% SiC doped $MgB_2$ wires were sintered at $600-1000^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes in Ar atmosphere. We found that $MgB_2$ phase was mostly formed at the sintering temperature of $700^{\circ}C$ and above, and the critical temperature ($T_c$) increased with increasing sintering temperature. For the $MgB_2$ sintered at $850^{\circ}C$, the highest critical current density ($J_c$) was obtained to be $3.7{\times}10^5\;A/cm^2$ at 5 K and 1.6 T by a magnetic properties measurement system (MPMS). The addition of SiC to the $MgB_2$ wires changed microstructure and critical properties. SEM observation showed that the $MgB_2$ core had considerable micro-cracks in undoped wire and the density of micro-cracks decreased with increasing SiC contents. The critical temperature decreased as the SiC contents increased, on the other hand, the critical current density of SiC doped $MgB_2$ wires in high magnetic field was enhanced compared to that of undoped $MgB_2$ wires.

More strict construction control of railway roadbeds is demanded in high speed railway system because of heavier repeated dynamic loading than conventional railways. The aim of this study is to propose a compaction control methodology of crushed-rock-soil-fills including as large particles as $200\sim300mm$ in diameter, which are easily encountered in high speed railway roadbed. Field tensity evaluation and in turn compaction control of such crushed-rock-soil-fills are almost impossible by conventional methods such as in-situ density measurements or plate loading tests. The proposed method consists of shear wave measurements of compaction specimens in laboratory and in-situ measurements of fills. In other words, compaction control can be carried out by comparing laboratory and field shear wave velocities using as a compaction control parameter. The proposed method was implemented at a soil site in the beginning and will be expanded to crushed-rock-soil-fills in future. One interesting result is that similar relationship of shear wave velocity and water content was obtained as that of density and water content with the maximum value at the optimum moisture content.
Background: Increasing evidences from experimental studies indicate that apoptosis may be inversely related to angiogenesis in tumor progression. Material and Method: To explore how apoptosis correlates with tumor angiogenesis, we measured the apoptotic index(AI) using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase method(Apop Tag In Situ Apoptosis Detection Kit, ONCOR) and the intratumoral microvessel density using the anti-CD31 monoclonal antibody in non-small cell lung cancer. Result: Statistical analysis revealed an inverse correlation between AIs and intratumoral microvessel densities in squamous cell lung carcinoma(Spearman rank correlation coefficient r=- 0.229, p=0.047). Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated that the amount of apoptosis in squamous cell lung carcinoma may be influenced by the extent of neovascularization. This suggests that tumor angiogenesis may contribute to a reduction of apoptosis in tumor cells.

In this study, the rise throughput and the stability in fabrication of device can be obtained by applying of CMP process to STI structure in 0.l8um semiconductor device. Through reverse moat pattern process, reduced moat density at high moat density, STI CMP process with low selectivity could be to fit polish uniformity between low moat density and high moat density. Because this reason, in-situ motor current end point detection method is not fit to the current EPD technology with the reverse moat pattern. But we use HSS without reverse moat pattern on STI CMP and take end point current sensing signal.[1] To analyze sensing signal and test extracted signal, we can to adjust wafer difference within $110{\AA}$.
The study describes the monitoring of the Bay of Bengal as a ballast water exchangeable sea using MODIS/Aqua-derived diffuse attenuation coefficient (K(490)) synchronized with in situ ballast water sampling and analysis along the LNG carrier's route between Japan and Qatar from 2002 to 2005. Based on the relationship between K(490) and corresponding in situ plankton cell densities, the Bay of Bengal is recognized as a ballast water exchangeable sea to meet the regulation of ballast water performance standard of International Maritime Organization (IMO). Furthermore the Bay of Bengal with more than 200m depth and more than 200 nautical mile distance from shore is extracted based on the regulation of ballast water exchange area of IMO. However, an anomalously high K(490) area is found off the coast of Sri Lanka during the northeast monsoon in 2005, which corresponds higher cell densities than the criterion set by the regulation of IMO. The phenomenon of high cell density in the Bay of Bengal seems to be related with the phytoplankton bloom during the northeast monsoon. Seasonal and annual variability of phytoplankton bloom will be investigated to establish an early routing system for avoiding the high cell density area in advance.
The properties of contaminated soil, contaminants and elapsed time are important considering factors to in-situ soil remediation. Gabr et. al. (1996) derived the solution equation of contaminant concentration ratio as initial one ($C/C_0$) with time and spatial changes in contaminated area which are embedded with vertical drains. The contaminant concentration ratio ($C/C_0$) is analyzed with time and spatial changes as varying the effective diameter, porosity, shape factor, density of contaminated soil, temperature in ground, unit weight and viscosity of contaminants by using FLUSH1 model modified from FLUSH. Results from numerical analysis indicate that the most important factor to the in-situ soil remediation in vertical drain system is the effective diameter of contaminated soil. It also shows that the next important factors are the viscosity of contaminants, porosity of soil, shape of soil, temperature in ground, unit weight of contaminants and density of soil, in order. However, the others except the effective diameter of contaminated soil are insignificant to the soil remediation.
