Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Clinical Research Nurses (CRNs) and the importance of their roles at the Regional Clinical Trial Centers (RCTCs). Method: A questionnaire focused on the role of CRNs was crafted by a researcher and the content validity was verified by a panel of experts on clinical research. The subjects of this study were 91 CRNs and Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), who were Korean registered nurses working at nine RCTCs. 77 subjects yielded valid data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rank order correlation coefficient, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The performance of CRNs and the recognition in the importance of their roles were statistically significant different in age, education, CRN careers, positions, employment status and the phase of clinical trial. The role of direct caregiver was performed most often by CRNs. The role of coordinator of care and research (pre-study) was considered the most important role but performed the least frequent. Conclusions: The role of CRNs can easily be differentiated from CRCs who are not registered nurses. The domains of CRNs should be clearly identified and established. Moreover, research should be carried out on CRN training programs to cultivate competence in CRNs.

Previous studies on the relationship between stress and performance have shown inconsistent results. Thus, this study focused on the effect of challenging stress among the two types of stress types and investigated the nonlinear relationship between the challenging stress and the performance. In particular, performance was divided into job performance, which is related to in-role behavior, and organizational citizenship behavior, which is characterized as extra-role behavior. Empirical results using 222 samples of Chinese workers have showed that challenging stress had a nonlinear relationship with job performance and organizational citizenship behavior. However, it was found that the shape of nonlinear relationship of the challenging stress on job performance and organizational citizenship behavior was slightly different. Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of this paper and future research directions are discussed.
The objective of this study is to conduct survey analyses of the role perception and performance of homeroom teachers in elementary schools in Seoul as well as their students' expectations for teachers' role as counsellors. The study also aims to analyze the causes behind the lackluster performance, to provide assistance in teachers' counselling and guidance activities and collect basic data for providing a plausible orientation for elementary school counselling. Research topics for achieving these study objectives are as follows. First, what is the status quo of counselling between elementary school students and teachers? Second, what is the role perception of elementary school homeroom teachers as counsellors and their current level of performance? Third, what are the differences in students' expectations for homeroom teachers' role as counsellors according to students' environmental variables such as gender and grade? Fourth, what are the discrepancies between the roles perception and performance of elementary school homeroom teachers and role expectation of students for homeroom teachers' role as counsellors? In order to answer these questions, surveys were conducted for 229 teachers and 385 students in grades 4, 5 and 6 in 11 elementary schools in Seoul, and the results were analyzed. The questionnaires used for this study were modified and supplemented according to the research objectives based on survey questions released by Gyung-Beom Lee(1989), Hak-Soo Lee(2001) and Gi-Nam Gwon(2005). Statistical analyses were peformed using the SPSS for Windows 10.0 program. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, most elementary school homeroom teachers were involved in counselling activities, and about half of them were providing counselling once a month or less. The classroom was the primary location of counselling, and more than half of the surveyed teachers were dissatisfied with their counselling activities. The teachers cited overwhelming teaching hours and excessive work as the factors that made counselling difficult. Second, it was revealed that most elementary school students have had experiences of anguish and most have had some form of counselling. They mostly sought counselling from their parents and friends, and the reasons behind such choices were that they were very understanding. Third, most students responded that they have had no experience of receiving counselling from their homeroom teachers. Among those with counselling experience with their homeroom teachers, most said that the counselling was helpful. The most significant reason for not receiving counselling from their homeroom teachers was that the students had no worries to talk about with their teachers. Fourth, as a result of categorizing the role of elementary school homeroom teachers as counsellors according to the areas of counselling, role perception for each area turned out to be generally high, while performance was substantially lacking. Fifth, in terms of the causes for the lackluster counselling performance, overwhelming teaching hours and excessive work were indicated for counselling areas of academic and personality issues. Sixth, the analysis of students' expectations for elementary school homeroom teachers as counsellors for counselling areas according to gender and grade revealed that there was no overall statistical significance. Seventh, from the general perspective, the level of role perception of the homeroom teachers were higher than the level of students' expectations. In conclusion, in order to enhance the teacher's role as a counsellor, there has to be a concrete perception of roles as a primary premise, calling for training sessions and programs dedicated to counseling for the teachers to take part in. Moreover, in order to alleviate the most significant causes for undermining teachers' counselling activities - overwhelming teaching hours and excessive work - there must be administrative consideration as well as provisions for effective counselling centers and dedicated school counsellors.
According to knowledge-based view, knowledge is an essential strategic resource for a firm to retain sustainable competitive advantage. As knowledge is created and disseminated throughout the firm, the firm can enhance its capability to respond to new and unusual situations. Thus, a lot of companies actively manage their knowledge and intellectual capital. Especially, knowledge management (KM) activities in R&D organizations play a critical role in enhancing R&D performances such as innovation capability. In this regard, this study develops a theoretical model to examine the effects of R&D KM activities on R&D performance. The research model posits KM participation, knowledge management system (KMS) use, and community of practice (CoP) as the main activities of R&D KM. This study proposes that R&D shared knowledge quality and R&D KM satisfaction play a mediating role between R&D KM activities and its performance. The proposed research model was tested by using survey data collected from 248 employees in an R&D department. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. The findings of this study showed that R&D KM activities play a significant role in enhancing R&D performance. The findings revealed that R&D shared knowledge quality is not significantly related to R&D performance, while R&D KM satisfaction significantly influences R&D performance. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings were described.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in nurses' image of student nurses before and after their first clinical practice. Method: Study samples were composed of 78 student nurses who were from nursing dept. of one college in G city. All participants had their first clinical practice for 4 weeks at two general hospitals in Gwangju. The internal consistency of the total scale was Cronbach's $\alpha$= .883. Results: After the first clinical practice, the mean score of nurses' image in general was lower than that of nurses' image before the clinical practice. In five subcategories, before the first clinical practice, professionalism and expertness were the highest followed by role performance, vision of a career, and temperature as a nurse in order but after the first clinical practice, professionalism was the highest score followed by expertness, temperature as a nurse, role performance, vision of a career in the mean scores of nurses' image. Conclusion: Based upon these findings, clinical practice will play an important role in improving role performance and vision of a nursing career for student nurses, so nursing administrators should make efforts to improve image of nurses in a variety of practice.
This study sought to understand the mediating effect of job enthusiasm in relation to work-life balance and job performance of hospital workers. The data collected through a self-contained survey using structured questionnaires for employees of medical institutions in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and Process Macro programs. As a result of the analysis, job performance and non-role performance were the most influenced by passion (+), and work-life balance was evaluated as a factor that increased job enthusiasm. In addition, work-life balance directly influenced job performance, but indirectly influenced job performance as a medium. In particular, the work-life balance and the relationship between performance other than roles were fully mediated. In order to improve the job performance of hospital workers at the organizational level, it is necessary to increase job enthusiasm, which means that efforts are needed to establish an organizational culture that values work-life balance.
Purpose - The purpose of this research is to test the impact of social connectedness and team psychological safety on the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance (job performance and practiced creativity), and moderating role of usage frequency of SNS. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 299 questionnaires, completed by Chinese employees, were analyzed using SPSS 22 and AMOS 22. For the assessment of goodness of fit of the models, TLI, CFI, RMSEA indices were used. Result -The empirical results are as follows. First, social connectedness had a mediating effect in the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance, practiced creativity. Second, team psychological safety had a mediating effect in the relationship between transformational leadership and social connectedness, job performance, practiced creativity. Finally, the moderating effect of frequency of employee SNS usage were not significant. Conclusion -This study analyzes the mediating role of employee social connectedness and team psychological safety on the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance, practiced creativity, which is helpful for the expansion of related theories and provides practical implications for effective human resource management.

The language and the gestures of a teacher, generally, have a great influence on the effect of a lesson. This is because subject content is transferred to students by teachers' language and gestures. In the science lessons which focus on experiments, the language and gestures of both students and teachers will help the learning of scientific content. However, the role of gestures, despite its importance, has rarely been investigated in science education research. The role of gestures of students and teachers is a much needed area of study. This study investigated the gestures observed in the experimental process performed by students who participated in a science exploration activity. Students' gestures play an essential role in the successful performance of the experiment. and they could function as a process of solving the contradictory situation. In addition, the demonstration and the communication of gestures should be performed very cautiously. There were a number of implications for the long-standing problem of the relation between the understanding of science concepts and the performance of experiments.
The catalyst layer of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is a mixture of polymer, carbon, and platinum. The characteristics of the catalyst layer play critical role in determining the performance of the PEM fuel cell. This research investigates the role of catalyst layer composition using a Central Composite Design (CCD) experiment with two factors which are Nafion content and carbon loading while the platinum catalyst surface area is held constant. For each catalyst layer composition, polarization curves are measured to evaluate cell performance at common operating conditions, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) are then applied to investigate the cause of the observed variations in performance. The results show that both Nafion and carbon content significantly affect MEA performance. The ohmic resistance and active catalyst area of the cell do not correlate with catalyst layer composition, and observed variations in the cell resistance and active catalyst area produced changes in performance that were not significant relative to compositions of catalyst layers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify perception of recovery, self-esteem, role performance, job satisfaction and factors influencing job satisfaction of psychiatric mental heath nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 161 psychiatric nurses from G city & J province who understood the purpose of the study and agreed to participate. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with SPSS 18.0. Results: There were significant differences in job satisfaction between upper 25% and lower 25% group for perception of recovery, self-esteem, and role performance. Results from the multiple regression analysis revealed difference in the related factors and in the magnitude of the relationship evaluated by standardized beta coefficients. Significant factors, listed by the magnitude of beta coefficients, were role performance, self esteem, roles and responsibilities in recovery, expectations regarding recovery in perception of recovery. These variables accounted for 16% of job satisfaction. Conclusion: Results indicate that to improve psychiatric nurses' job satisfaction, there is a need to develop programs including personal qualities and perception of recovery. Further research is necessary in order to establish consensus on roles of the related factors of job satisfaction.
