  • As the Korea construction market has recent3y opened, the needs to restructure the design standard for the technical advancement in design is increasing. Therefore, we proposed the design standard of railway according to the direction, which is presented in this study that analyze the present situation of the previous design standard. The new design standard of railway was tried to definite a limit in each service stage. This design standard will improve the design quality and induce the accumulation of technology. In addition, it will solve the organic contradiction of construction service. As a result, this research will bring the improvement in the design standard and contribute to the development of Korea construction industry.

  • Recently, fundamental innovation for the improvement of Korean railway industry is proceeding with the vertical separation into infrastructure and operation, and the privatization of railway operation. And also, with the advent of an era of high-speed railway, starting of Korea Train Express (KTX) will give a great change to circumstances of railway industry. It requires that a railway safety regulation policy and accident survey system cope effectively with this restructuring of railway system. Under these great changes, safety must have the first priority, and the function of management and supervision on railway safety will be ten to the governments responsibility; In this paper, according to changes of railway safety management system, foreign states railway accident system and direction of korea railroad accident survey system will be also introduced.

  • Development of science technology, computer network and software technology has not only changed various areas of the society, but also brought rapid change in the condition and the way of performing war. Historical lessons learned from the war in Iraq tells that military capabilities corresponding to the new paradigms of war needs to be assured in order to preserve national interest and take victory in future warfare. Thus, the performance in the latest war in Iraq, the estimated performance in future war and the performance of war in the Korean Peninsula has been put together and analyzed to indicate the direction our force should be built and the structure to be improved. Under all circumstances and threats the military must defend our nation and territory. When war breaks out the military must perform it's basic duty to end war by decisive operations. As the saying is "To preserve peace, prepare for war," continuous increase of military strength and improvement of military structure corresponding to the change of national security environment and weapon system is necessary.

  • Recently, there are many problems of service qualities such as regular-rapid-safe -comfortable transport, that was traditionally advantages in urban railway transportations. These problems cause train delays that affects consecutive schedule, capacity, operation plans, and it is hard to prevent the propagation of delay and find the recovery solution. Because the urban transport demands is continuously increased and the railway service is also expanded, the railway operation company makes efforts to improve operation performance and efficiency for passengers. In this paper, we analyse the issues and problems existing in the major operation line of high-density urban railways, and suggest the development direction of intelligent operation technology to improve the urban railway service by minimizing the occurrence and propagation of delay. And the result of numerical case study is also presented.

  • Optical transmission characteristics of retardation film for obliquely incident light is calculated by using extended Jones calculus and it is geometrically interpreted on Poincare sphere representation as rotational transformation. The characteristics of a retardation film is that while the rotation axis is fixed at a point on the Equator of the Poincar sphere, the rotation angle varies with the direction of incidence. This property can be compensated by using a tandem arrangement of the two optical films whose optic axes do not coincident, and this method can be used for the improvement of the viewing angle characteristics of BTN cells. cells.

  • Vibro crushed-stone compacted pile (VCCP) method is one of a ground improvement technique by a vibro compaction in vertical direction with crushed stone to build up stone pile foundation in other to ensure stability of soft ground. In spite of its long applied history in geotechnical engineering division, most of studies have not been based on the reliable In-situ condition but on the laboratory tests including model tests. These model tests can express standard and ideal behavior but exceptional status that can be occur in the ground cannot be considered efficiently. This study performed the the series of trial construction to investigate the effect of VCCP method on the improvement of soft ground expecially in railroad construction site.

  • The improvement of the life standard of the public by the economical growth leads their interests to the leisure activities, so that the demand for resort facilities has been increased. Especially, casino resort facilities in Kangwon-Do has been developed continuously without exact concept of casino resort design. This resort facilities has been planned by indiscreet imitation of foreign examples and non-organized developments and etc. One of the reasons for these problems may be from the lack of the knowledges and researches related to the architectural approaching of these facilities. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic informations for better understanding and improvement of planning and design direction for these facilities through a survey the famous casino resort facilities in Las Vegas. As a result of this research, Las Vegas has been changed tremendously from the casino resort to the resort complex for families with special theme and various facilities.

  • This study proposed an effective improvement direction for the education and welfare supporting facilities and equipment sectors to guarantee the right of disabled students to study in university. To derive high-demand items, the value engineering quality model technique was conducted on the students who majoring in architecture and the disabled students. The high-demand items for the education and welfare supporting facilities and equipment was detailed by interviews with the disabled students. Especially, anti-skid floor material, spacious access space for electric wheelchair, efficient operation system for elevator and cafeteria waiting time are strongly demanded for the disabled students. Based on this research, universities can make efficient investments and improvements in the education and welfare supporting facilities and equipment sectors for disabled students.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the direction of the students' satisfaction improvement by comparison of related disciplines of undergraduate management information systems (MIS) majors. MIS is one of the academic disciplines that have become important as the demand for manpower for new industries in the 4th industrial revolution. We surveyed 3rd and 4th grade undergraduate students in the departments of management information systems, business administration (BA), computer engineering (CE) of C university. The results revealed that the students' satisfaction was influenced by the ability of the professor, the curriculum development, and the curriculum operation factors. Especially, it was found that the curriculum operating factors among the three departments had greater effect on the students' satisfaction. If the education environment is improved considering curriculum operating factors and the administrative and service factors and that are important in the CE departments, it will be helpful for the students' satisfaction improvement of MIS.
