Effect of two-phase fabrication method for the optimum fit of light-polymerized record bases

  • PURPOSE. The aims of this study were to suggest a method of fabrication of the record base using a light-polymerized resin by applying the two-phase fabrication method for the improvement of the fit of the record base and to compare the degree of fit according to the separation site. MATERIALS AND METHODS. In the edentulous cast of maxilla, four test groups were considered. In the first, second, third, and fourth test groups (n = 12 in each group) the separation was done at 0, 5, 10, and 15 mm, respectively below the alveolar crest along the palatal plane. For the control group, the record base was made without separating the two sections. The light-body silicone material was injected into the fitting surface of the record base. It was then placed onto the cast and finger pressure was applied to stabilize it in a seated position followed by immediate placement onto the universal test device. Finally, the mass of the impression material was measured after it was removed. ANOVA was performed using the SAS program. For the post-hoc test, the Wilcoxon Rank-Sum test and the Tukey-Kramer HSD test were performed ($\alpha$ = 0.05). RESULTS. The control group and Group 3, 4 showed significant differences. The Group 3 and 4 showed significantly smaller inside gaps than the control group which was not made with the two-phase fabrication method. CONCLUSION. The two-stage polymerized technique can improve the fit of the denture base particularly when the separation was made at 10 to 15 mm from the alveolar crest.

치성 점액종 환자의 총의치 수복증례 (Fabrication of complete dentures for a patient with odontogenic myxoma: A case report)

  • 치성점액종은 악골에 드물게 발생하는 양성 치성 종양이다. 본 증례의 60대 무치악 남성은 전상악부에 발생한 연조직 종괴 제거를 주소로 내원하였으며 절제 생검 결과 치성 점액종으로 확진되었다. 외과적 제거 후 잔존한 가동조직의 변형을 최소화 하기 위해 고안된 투명 레진 트레이로 인상을 채득하였다. 악간관계기록 및 납의치 시적시에 중립대 영역을 설정하고 기능적 연마면 형태를 인기하여 총의치의 안정성과 유지력을 증진시킬 수 있었다. 치성 점액종 제거 후 가동조직과 중립대를 고려하여 심미적, 기능적으로 만족스러운 총의치를 제작하였기에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

  • 치조제 흡수 및 광범위한 flabby tissue가 존재하는 Class III 무치악 증례에서 의치의 유지, 지지, 안정을 얻기는 매우 어렵다. 환자는 72세의 남성으로 약 20년전 비의료기관에서 제작된 의치의 잦은 탈락과 잘 씹히지 않는다는 것을 주소로 내원하신 분이다. 본 환자의 임상검사 소견상 상악 전치부에는 심한 flabby tissue 가 존재하였으며, 골격성 Class III에 해당하는 심한 하악 전돌 양상이 관찰되었다. 먼저 임시 의치 제작으로 저작기능을 회복하고 flabby tissue의 무압인상채득을 실시하였으며, 구치부 치아 배열을 고려하여 최종 의치를 제작하였다. 이에 환자의 주소인 의치의 탈락 및 저작시 불편감이 개선되는 양호한 결과를 얻었기에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

소절개 및 Dual-top screw를 이용한 전두동 전벽 단순 함몰골절의 치료 (Small Incision and Dual-Top Screws for Treatment of Simple Depressed Anterior Frontal Sinus Fractures)

  • Purpose: Fracture of the frontal sinus accounts for 5-15% of all facial fractures. Only anterior table fracture occupies one third of the frontal sinus fracture. Conventional coronal approach is the standard treatment, but this method is very aggressive, especially in patient with simple, depressed, anterior frontal sinus wall fracture. We introduce new, simple technique for these patients, using small incision and Dual-top screws. Methods: A 27-year-old male patient was introduced to our department under the impression of fracture of frontal sinus, involving only anterior table. Under general anesthesia, 1.5 cm-sized, small incision was made on the suprabrow area. We reduced fractured fragment with two dual-top screws and 25G wires. Fixation was not necessary Results: The operation took about forty minutes, and the patient discharged 2 days after the operation. Postoperative 2 months follow up CT shows maintenance of reduction site. Gross depression of the forehead and visible scar was not observed. Conclusion: Although the indication of this procedure is limited, less aggressive, simple and very effective to the patient with simple. depressed, anterior frontal sinus fracture.

트릭아트 체험전시공간의 구성요소별 특성에 따른 만족도조사 분석 - 서울지역의 트릭아트전시관 3개 사례를 중심으로 - (Analysis of Satisfaction Surveys in Accordance with the Characteristics of the Components of Trick Art Experience Exhibition Space During -Around Seoul Trick Art Exhibition of Three Cases-)

  • As life is changing, modern people are interested in culture life more than the past and as a result Art Exhibition increases. Nowadays many methods of exhibit are introduced, especially Direct experience. Trick Art Experience exhibition introduced Direct experirence to a work of art for interests and used props, objets, images, and sounds for maximizing experience element. Trick Art Experience exhibition added humor as imitating famous painting and gave a deep impression through the optical illusion technique which make flat structure look three-dimensional structure. Recently, demands for Experience exhibition which are like Trick Art increase. This study figure out pros and cons through a comparison analysis of direction and component about Trick Art Experience exhibition and find a check list about making an audience active about experience. From now on, we have an object about showing design data including customer satisfaction measurement to make various expressions of direction and component about Experience Art through a case analysis. We have firsthand visited case spaces to experience the spaces and prepared a check list for the relevant types of expressions. Referring to the exhibit work classification system, components that correspond to Trick Art Experience exhibition were grouped according to constituting items. Among the types of expressions, the levels of satisfaction with Experience exhibition and Participating exhibit were found to be high and the level of satisfaction with Heart Moving exhibit was found to be low through surveys. Among the components, the levels of satisfaction with stereograms and formative effect elements were found to be high and those of spatial changes and media effects were found to be low through surveys. Therefore, the expressions should be reinforced and the components should be improved.

보컬 녹음에 필요한 이펙트의 개념과 사용법에 관한 제언 - Reverb를 중심으로 - (Suggestions on the Concept and Usage of Effects Needed for Vocal Recording -With focus on reverb-)

  • 믹싱의 기술적인 측면에서 가장 해결하기 어려웠던 부분 중에 하나가 바로 보컬(목소리) 이다. 악기와 달리 보컬은 각각 가수들마다 너무 나 다른 톤, 즉 색깔 때문에 공통의 수치를 적용하기도 어려울뿐더러 여러 이펙터를 적절히 배합해야 하기 때문에 매우 힘든 작업이었다. 본 논문은 그중에서도 가장 대표적인 보컬이펙터인 리버브의 개념과, 현황, 사용방법에 대해 학생들이 가장 많이 사용하는 이펙터 중에 하나인 Wave Renaissance Reverb 를 사용하여 효과적인 보컬 리버브 사용에 관한 제안을 해보도록 하겠다. 가요 믹싱에서 가장 중요한 부분은 보컬의 목소리를 어떻게 만들어 주는지가 관건이다. 소리의 공간감은 음악을 더욱 더 아름답게 만들어주기 때문에 보컬이펙터로서 리버브의 역할은 절대적이다. 컴퓨터기술은 음악을 더욱 손쉽게 만들 수 있게 해주었으나 정해진 프리셋만을 사용하게 하는 등 개개인의 기술능력이 떨어지는 부작용을 낳았다. 보다 더 더 세밀한 노력을 통한 뮤지션들의 리버브 연구는 결국 좋은 음악을 창출해 낼 수 있을 것이다.

파일-업 재료에 대한 나노 압입 시험기의 경도 측정값 교정 (Correction of the hardness measurement for pile-up materials with a nano indentation machine)

  • 본 연구는 공업용 응용이 많은 알루미늄 또는 구리와 같은 재료를 나노 압입 시험기에 의하여 탄생계수 및 경도 값을 얻을 때 파일-업(pile-up) 현상이 생기는 경우 계측 값을 교정할 수 있는 방법에 대해 다룬다. 나노 압입 시험기에 의해 얻어지는 탄성계수와 경도의 측정치는 접촉면적의 피팅 (fitting) 식에 의존하게 되는데 이는 오로지 싱크-인(sink-in) 재료에만 유효하다. 그러므로 싱크-인이 아닌 파일-업인 많은 무른 공학재료들에 있어서는 그 접촉면적이 실제보다 적게 계산되고 따라서 탄성계수와 경도는 높게 계산된다. 본 연구에서는 이미 탄생계수를 알고 있는 파일-업 거동을 보이는 재료의 경우에 경도 값을 교정하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법을 경금속인 Al 6061 T6와 C 12200에 적용하기 위해 인장시험, 나노 압입시험, 압입자국 측정, 그리고 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 압입 자국 측정과 유한요소해석을 흥하여 두 재료 모두 파일-업 거동이 발생하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 제안한 교정 방법은 싱크-인 접촉면적 값을 파일-업 접촉면적 값으로 늘려 주었고 경도 측정값을 낮추어 주었다. 교정된 경도 값은 별도의 연구에서 다룬 변형률 구배 소성을 고려한 유한요소해석 결과와 잘 일치하였다.

  • The objective of preventive dentistry is the maintenance of a healthy dentition for the life of a patient. Unfortunately, if an individual has not received the benefit of a comprehensive program of preventive dentistry and has finally reached the edentulous state, as a consequence, he receives a set of complete denture. Dentures are mechanical devices and subject to the principles of mechanics. In some cases, the general health and nutritional status of the patient are felt to be the causative factors. But, the most important thing in residual ridge resorption is felt to be caused by the unequal distribution of functional forces. This study was to analyze mandibular stresses of complete denture occlusion by three dimensional finite element method. The results were as follows ; 1. As deformation and stress distribution of the complete denture of the mandible were concentrated on the upper lingual side of the mandible, alveolar ridge resorption of the mandible occurred from lingual side to labio-buccal side. 2. Analyzing by three dimensional F. E. M., the mandible is a very effective form for tolerating stress and deformation biomechanically. 3. According to the concentration of stress distibution in the upper buccal side of the lower posteriors, buccal shelf area must be a primary stress bearing area in the lower complete denture. 4. Lower complete denture moved horizontally to the balancing side under lateral occlusal force. 5. Bilateral balanced occlusion should be constructed in the complete denture for denture stability, especially in the protrusive movement. 6. Physical property of the denture base material was as important for stress distribution in the denture base as or even more than that in the mandible. 7. Impression technique is very important because of most of stress was concentrated between them due to close contact of the mandible and the denture base.

식립 보조도구를 이용한 3D 치아 임플란트 시술 시뮬레이션 (3D Simulation of Dental Implant Surgery Using Surgical Guide Stents)

  • Surgeon dentists usually rely on their experiential judgments from patients' oral plaster casts and medical images to determine the positional and directional information of implant fixtures and to perform drilling tasks during dental implant surgical operations. This approach, however, may cause some errors and deteriorate the quality of dental implants. Computer-aided methods have been introduced as supportive tools to alleviate the shortcomings of the conventional approach. In this paper, we present an approach of 3D dental implant simulation which can provide the realistic and immersive experience of dental implant information. The dental implant information is primarily composed of several kinds of 3D mesh models obtained as follows. Firstly, we construct 3D mesh models of jawbones, teeth and nerve curves from the patient's dental images using software $Mimics^{TM}$. Secondly, we construct 3D mesh models of gingival regions from the patient's oral impression using a reverse engineering technique. Thirdly, we select suitable types of implant fixtures from fixture database and determine the positions and directions of the fixtures by using the 3D mesh models and the dental images with software $Simplant^{TM}$. Fourthly, from the geometric and/or directional information of the jawbones, the gingival regions, the teeth and the fixtures, we construct the 3D models of surgical guide stents which are crucial to perform the drilling operations with ease and accuracy. In the application phase, the dental implant information is combined with the tangible interface device to accomplish 3D dental implant simulation. The user can see and touch the 3D models related with dental implant surgery. Furthermore, the user can experience drilling paths to make holes where fixtures are implanted. A preliminary user study shows that the presented approach can be used to provide dental students with good educational contents. With future work, we expect that it can be utilized for clinical studies of dental implant surgery.

국내산 구강스캐너(eZIS)를 사용한 3D프린트 모형의 정확도 검증 실험 (Accuracy Verification of 3D printing model by Using Domestic Oral Scanner(eZIS))

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was establishing process of manufacturing dental prosthesis by using eZIS system(DDS Inc.,Korea). Methods: To evaluate accuracy verification, the test was practiced two ways. First, Comparison of 3D printing models and stone models was practiced by using 3D superimposing software. #36 prepared master model was scanned by eZIS system and three 'Veltz3D' 3D printing models and three 'Bio3D' 3D printing models were manufactured. three stone models were manufactured by conventional impression technique. Second, Fitness test was practiced. the 3D printing models and the stone models was compared by manufacturing same resin crown. #36 prepared master model was scanned 9 times and manufactured (milled) 9 resin crowns by eZIS system. These crowns were cemented three 'Veltz3D' 3D printing models, three 'Bio3D' 3D printing models and three stone models. These crowns were sliced mesiodistal axis and gaps were measured by digital microscope. Results: The average accuracy of Bio3D models were 65.75%. Veltz3D(Hebsiba) models were 60.11% Stone models were 41.00%. Conclusion : This study results showed 3D printing model is similar with stone model. So it was under clinical allow, didn't affect final dental prothesis. There were no significant differences in the appearance of the three types of milling crowns.
