  • Shape memory alloy (SMA) helical springs have found a large number of different applications in industries including biomedical devices and actuators. According to the application of SMA springs in different actuators, they are usually under tension and torsion loadings. The ability of SMAs in recovering inelastic strains is due to martensitic phase transformation between austenite and martensite phases. Stress or temperature induced martensite transformation induced of SMAs is a remarkable property which makes SMA springs more superior in comparison with traditional springs. The present paper deals with the simulation of SMA helical spring at room temperature. Three-dimensional phenomenological constitutive model is used to describe superelastic behavior of helical spring. This constitutive model is implemented as a user subroutine through ABAQUS STANDARD (UMAT), and the process of the implementation is presented. Numerical results show that the developed constitutive model provides an appropriate approach to captures the general behavior of SMA helical springs.

  • In this knowledge based society, the circulation of knowledge and information is more and more increasing. Terms, as denominations of every specialized concept, has grown in quantity and there are considerable amount of foreign terminology coming to settle down in Korean language. Since terminologies quickly generate and be extinguished, it is important to translate in appropriate way at the very first phase of terminology implementation. This article aims to elaborate the typology of korean terminology translation forms, and propose some guidelines for terminology formation and translation methodology. ISO terminology principle and other institutes' propositions for term formation as well as translational theories constitute two basic columns of the guidelines.

  • This research will describe algorithm for class diagram extraction from problem statements. Class diagram notation consist of class name, attributes, and operations. Class diagram can be extracted from the problem statement automatically by using Natural Language Processing (NLP). The extraction results heavily depends on the algorithm and preprocessing stage. The algorithm obtained from various sources with additional rules that are obtained in the implementation phase. The evaluation features using five problem statement with different domains. The application will capture the problem statement and draw the class diagram automatically by using Windows Presentation Foundation(WPF). The classification accuracy of 100% was achieved. The final algorithm achieved 92 % of average precision score.

  • Multi-carrier waveforms have several advantages over single-carrier waveforms for radar communication. Employing multi-carrier complementary phase-coded (MCPC) waveforms in radar applications has recently attracted significant attention. MCPC radar signals take advantage of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing properties, and several authors have explored the use of MCPC signals and the difficulties associated with their implementation. The sidelobe level and peak-to-mean-envelope-power ratio (PMEPR) are the key issues that must be addressed to improve the performance of radar signals. We propose a scheme that applies pattern-based scaling and geometric progression methods to enhance sidelobe and PMEPR levels in MCPC radar signals. Numerical results demonstrate the improvement of sidelobe and PMEPR levels in the proposed scheme. Additionally, autocorrelations are obtained and analyzed by applying the proposed scheme in extensive simulation experiments.

  • The Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS) is a Korean Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) that has been under development since 2014 with the goal of providing Approach Procedure with Vertical guidance (APV)-I Safety of Life (SoL) services. KASS Control Station (KCS) is a subsystem that controls and monitors KASS systems. It also serves to store data generated by KASS. KCS has now completed detailed design and implementation and verification is in progress. This paper presents verification procedures and verification items for KCS verification activities and presents management measures for defects occurring during the verification phase.

  • In this study, the insertion loss and phase delay according to the multi-layer structure radome parameters were analyzed using the boundary value solution approach, and the multi-layer structure and hexa mesh structures with low-loss electrical characteristics for the Ku-band transmission/reception frequency of 10.7 ~ 14.5 GHz were designed and manufactured. A hexa mesh was applied to minimize radio wave transmission and scattering, which lowered the transmittance refractive index according to the radio incident angle and minimized dielectric loss through high-density foam. Similar to the simulation result, the transmission loss obtained the gain in a specific receiving frequency band, and in the transmission frequency band, an excellent low loss characteristic was obtained with an insertion loss of 0.8dB or less. The results of this study can be used in radio transmission radomes of low-weight, low-cost end-system protection devices.

  • In this study, the Rayleigh fast fading simualtors encountered in channel modelling of mobile radio have been implemented and evaluated. Two models used for the fading environment were frequency composition of phase modulated signals and shaping spectrum of noise sources with filters. The spectrum chosen for our purpose is appropriate to an omnidirectional antenna. From results of the experiment with various parameters, we have obtained satisfying results which are closely agreed to theoretical values.

  • Fuel cells are one of the renewable energy sources that have sparked a lot of scientific attention for solving problems related to the energy crisis and environmental pollution. One of the most crucial subjects concerning the utilization of fuel cells is modeling. Therefore, an analytical steady-state and dynamic fuel cell model was described in this study. The parameter for the identification process was investigated, and the MATLAB/Simulink implementation was demonstrated. A 15-W proton exchange membrane fuel cell was used to apply the suggested modeling methodology. Comparing experimental and simulation findings indicated that the model error was constrained to 3%. This study showed that temperature and humidity affect fuel cell performance.
